What version of KSP are you on? Weird, you're right. Just for some reason Ckan's "Add Available Updates" function is being uncooperative with me. Even though CKAN claimed I was using the most recent version (1.1.3.1289), it must have though I was using an older version because it wouldn't fully update a lot of mods. I verified the game cache and one file was off. Might have been a random bug during the steam auto-patcher. Either way, issue solved, so ignore my previous post. Undecided
Okay... it looks like CKAN is still being a bit stubborn. It refuses to update/detect that some of the CKAN-downloaded mods that are not at the latest version. Is there any way (a plugin maybe?) to force CKAN to always update to the latest mod version, regardless of what version of KSP it thinks you have installed? EDIT: It seems the issue is that CKAN refuses to patch mods that aren't listed as being for the current version installed. So if the current version of the mod was designed for 1.1.2, it won't even attempt to update the mod, even if there are many newer versions available. joebopie
since updating to the latest version i haven't been able to update anything without it throwing an exception. I cannot copy the LOG out of the text box.. so i cant paste it here. in fact it rarely starts without doing it, and it does it when i try doing anything after that. was working ok "ish" before. im running windows 8 and have .net 4.6 installed. passinglurker
oi! pjf! you guys should really do the neighborly thing and make your system opt-in only. What would you do if mod authors suddenly start going ARR or packaging thier mods to break under CKAN like what roverdude and ferram4 threaten to do in this recently locked thread. blowfish
@passinglurker CKAN will de-list a mod if its license does not permit distribution, the question is really of what happens when the license allows distribution but the mod's author prefers not to distribute via CKAN. RoverDude
@blowfish - the right answer (and by right I mean the answer that is neighborly, and respects the wishes of content creators) is that the mod is then de-listed if the owner does not wish it listed. Better yet, the mod is not listed in the first place unless the owner wished it to be listed. And no, I did not threaten to break CKAN... but if I were so inclined, it's pretty trivial to ensure a mod is not listable against my wishes. No. I think that CKAN should respect the wishes of mod authors and not have to use special license terms in order to get a particular result. I was pointing out that CKAN is currently consistent about not listing a mod if the license does not allow for distribution.

Yes and I was saying if ckan does not change it's ways mod authors will inevitably use the arr loop hole for force a ckan to not list them costing the continuity the openness it has enjoyed since the release of the karbonite mod

I had a new mod listed that was ARR, and had to request it be removed. The default behavior should change.

I suppose there also probably needs to be some auditing of pull requests to add new mods, since they could be in violation of the license terms. Check under the File > Select KSP Install... to confirm. My CKAN correctly reports 1.1.2.1260 in the title bar but I have only one KSP installation for now. No, checked all that. But, I did figure it out and have absolutely no idea how it happened. I actually run KSP of a 7GB RAM disk that resides on my primary OS SSD boot drive. For some reason, some, and I mean only some" of my KSP installation files reverted back to a 1.05 install from several months ago. No clue how this could of happened as no restore has been attempted and my save files and some ships I had created were current as of 3 days before this happening. The backups of the RAM disk even show the latest install of 1.1.2 so I am totally stumped. But, alas, I copied another 1.1.2 backup install over the top, synched it up (found about 30 files different, including the .exe which explained the 1.05 issue) and all is right with the world again. The content creator Hence the push for CKAN to default to an opt-in process (though I expect that policy will never change). That would be fine by me. The one complication is that some mod authors are ok with being listed on CKAN, but want nothing to do with maintaining the metadata. So perhaps if someone other than the author submitted a PR they would have to show written permission by the author to list on CKAN. Probably easier than trying to verify licenses anyway. RoverDude
I'd agree. If a mod author does not want to do their own metadata, but still wishes to participate, release it to the CKAN volunteers. That's pretty reasonable. And if they later decide it's becoming a hassle, let them opt out. Again, reasonable.

Debugging ************** To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this application or computer (machine.config) must have the jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section. The application must also be compiled with debugging enabled. For example: <configuration> <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" /> </configuration> When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer rather than be handled by this dialog box. Something went wrong on your end if for others works just fine. As much as I was able to understand, error poped up when CKAN tried to populate grid with data from metafile list or something. You should try to wipe out everything in CKAN folder except "download" folder, to ensure you don't have to download everything again. Also you should wipe out everything but SQUAD folder in gamedata folder, to ensure that you will be able to install mods again trough CKAN. After that, run everything again. Just for safety reason, you should backup everything outside KSP folder (deleted files in CKAN and gamedata folder) before you try mentioned.
