Edit: FAR and Module Manager also appear to be missing.

Regarding the erratic checking of mods and not showing up in ChangeSet.

So I went back to CKAN and patiently selected each mod I wanted waiting patiently for the check mark instead of clicking numerous times when it seemed to not function. I also selected only 5-8 at a time. Only a couple times did I get an error about a mod not being downloaded but I just redid it and it worked.

So I guess at this point I've successfully used CKAN to install all the mods I want and while it is definitely still behaving erratically I know just to be more patient with it when selecting a mod as it seems the issue with mods not showing up in ChangeSet starts occurring when I keep spam clicking a mod when the checkbox doesn't immediately appear. It's not a big concern to me anymore since I'll only be adding or removing one mod at a time from now on and everything else is just updating.

I can still open the github at your request though.

the problem is solved . I need to create a file readme.txt

with the following text Version [my_version]

Seems like a better way would be appname.version instead of such a common name as "readme.txt" whcih can easily be overwritten or casually deleted. That's bad practice put vital data inside what most consider to be an optional file - and basically a documentation file not a data file.

Does CKAN play nice with KSP-AVC?

By that I mean, if I install mods with CKAN, and when I launch KSP, KSP-AVC checks and finds a new version and I install it...

Will CKAN declare its an AD mod and not longer do updates for it?

I must admit I don't know how KSP-AVC installs work but it is _NEVER_ recommended to install in any other way than through CKAN if you want CKAN to properly work.

Just a short note to say that our bots have settled as I've nuked one and reset the metadata repo. If it looks like CKAN is missing a bunch of mods, just hit refresh and they'll be back.

I have an issue though - it looks like KAE KSPAPIExtensions is still not registering as compatible with 1.0.2. A couple days ago, I was able to install the Astronomer's Packs, but today they're throwing a module not found exception for KSPAPIExtensions and not letting me install them. Anyone know why this would change? Is it something I can fix on my end?

I think I have KAE installed manually, and the dll is also packaged with a handful of other mods.

I'm going to assume that is your list of installed mods and not the thing you're trying to install?

So I managed to almost reproduce this issue by trying to install AVP on an old 0.90 testinstall... I did get a ModuleNotFoundKraken but it didn't mention KAE nor any other mod. However after running a refresh it resolved itself. When did you last run a refresh?

I'm having some very weird errors with AVP where I had to choose both AVP and one of its Cloud configs (low, medium, high) before it allowed me to continue to the Changeset tab. This might be related to an issue we're currently tracking on github related to TAC-LS which has a not totally dis-similar issue. There is a PR in the works which will hopefully get merged in the coming days which migth also resolve this situation.

I've been through the metadata a few times now and I'm continously unable to locate the link between KAE and AVP so if it's there it'll be either very well embedded in a depedency of a dependency or super obvious.

Long-story short, try refreshing and picking both AVP and a Cloud config, see if that solves the gui problem. If not try using commandline and issuing the command 'ckan install AstronomersPack' and see if that works. Seems like a better way would be appname.version instead of such a common name as "readme.txt" whcih can easily be overwritten or casually deleted. That's bad practice put vital data inside what most consider to be an optional file - and basically a documentation file not a data file.

The readme.txt file is not created by CKAN, it's where KSP keeps its versiondata which we peek at to see which version is installed. Although I agree it might be a "casual" file I have yet found a reason to need to delete it, even before I needed it for CKAN :S

Are there any mods on CKAN currently that would replace stock part textures or the skybox? Would such a mod just place files in TextureReplacer/Default?

Not sure I understand the question but do you mean stuff like Ven's stock revamp? As for skybox I know we have stuff for clouds but not sure about skybox.

Now that we have an awesome distribution system when it comes to mods. Is it possible to add additional functionality in CKAN, that lets us browse mods as well? Im thinking sort by number of downloads, sort by rating. Doesent have to be anything fancy. Just something basic that tracks and can give users an idea of whats hot, if they want to try new mods. I am aware that curse also have this and kerbalstuff too, but i dont think it would hurt to have this functionality in CKAN as well. More ways to explore is more ways to discover a new cool mod.

Hmm. Well, I refresh all the time, so nothing to do with that. I was able to install AVP Cloud pack *without* checking the main AVP package. It seemed like once AVP main was checked, many other mods would throw the module error when checked, but as long as it wasn't, only a few mods will throw it.

Anyhow I've given up on AVP packs after realizing I didn't actually want them with EVE and Scatterer running anyway, but I am still getting that error for a few other mods.

Version 1.6.18, Windows 7, tried to refresh and keep getting "failed to connect to repository". I have tried every mirror in the settings and a few other "solutions" that made it crash when using the update parameter in the command prompt because I had no idea what mono was. I like the mods for Kerbal but hated the manual install and would really like to get CKAN working.

After being completely fed up after two years of manually installing tons of mods, I believe this tool came out of heaven (despite being atheïst) and helps me from taking ages previously to only mere minutes nowadays when it comes to installing and keep track of long lists of mods, their updates, etc.! Tripled the pleasure playing modded KSP. Thank you so much for CKAN!

Now that I'm using CKAN for over a month and have had some thorough uses with it, we do sometimes have our disputes, all spireling on this one simple thing: the "Changeset" tab disappears. While I want it there... Like always. Maybe this is a bug, maybe this was on purpose (as a programmed functionlock or something), but why would I lose the insight CKAN spits out in that screen over what it just installed the moment it's finished? Also, while I make unspecific alterations in the "Manage mods" tab, the "Changeset" disappears as well, meaning CKAN (or I myself, or maybe us both, I'm in doubt...) entirely lost track of my choices, then I need to restart CKAN, and begin all over. Maybe you could make the "Changeset" tab be visible all the time whilst showing the last update info? If it helps, you could make the button "Apply" unclickable, until changes are made in tab "Manage mods".

As for future update tips:

When mods are installing/updating, CKAN provides info "Deleted". Could this be maybe more detailed as to name what mods it deleted (as happens in the latter part)?

Also, it would help logging any changes made by CKAN - deletions / updates / installments of mods and maybe even their folders. If the info provided in the "Changeset" tab about install info, somehow tethered to a date and time mark, could be put into a log file, txt or built-in, that would really help! Especially what it (or better say I) deleted in, say, last session...

Like that tiny plug-in among other mod-changes I did earlier today that I have no specific recollection off but broke the game (and the fun) by not allowing me to go into the VAB anymore or any other screen worthwhile looking at. :( After going through all possible causes and suggestions and help and folders and CKAN-logs I couldn't find and other things I tried with an older but not old enough backup, I eventually deleted the entire game, along with any backup (how smart am I) and am now re-installing it all in view of again having to completely begin a viable space program from scratch (I had such advanced yet monstrous KerbalKages flying around). I found out it was BahamutoD animations plugin. Off course it was... (I didn't want the weapons anymore - the other BahamutoD - no clue nor brains this plugin was a dependencie of whatever other mod)

But it does not really kill the fun. I love the game, I love the mods and I love CKAN for bringing those two nicely together. CKAN does the job, yes it KCAN! Keep it up!

Ugh that first part sounds terribly much like we might have a packaging error, I assume you had EVE installed while doing that? Did you have any of the EVE clouds installed? I'm trying to track this error down but can't quite wrap my head around it yet.

Can you upload your registry.json somewhere so I can have a dev take a look at it and try to reproduce your error? It's in a folder named CKAN inside your KSP root directory and should be able to help us find out what is making things go wrong. Even better would be a github issue detailing any and all ways of reproducing your error together with your registry.json file.

Version 1.6.18, Windows 7, tried to refresh and keep getting "failed to connect to repository". I have tried every mirror in the settings and a few other "solutions" that made it crash when using the update parameter in the command prompt because I had no idea what mono was. I like the mods for Kerbal but hated the manual install and would really like to get CKAN working.

Are you using mono to run CKAN in windows? If that's the case try without mono since it's not needed there.

Would this work if I wanted to have EVE and Edge of Oblivion? Would it automatically merge the files? And does it remove the README files and put everything in a neat folder?

I must admit that until right now I had never heard of Edge of Oblivion. I'm kinda unclear on what it is, is it another version of Astronomers pack (we currently only index Interstellar.V2 of it) or some kind of addon to it? As for right now EVE and Astronomers Pack - Interstellar are available in CKAN and looking at the metadata for them it would appear everything goes neatly into a single folder and that all readmes and other instructions are filtered out during installation.
