I'm a bit... well, dumb when it comes to these things. If I use CTT, will mods that don't support it yet simply not show up, or will all their parts be dumped in on the first node, or will they be spread willy-nilly? I really want to use it but I want to make sure I won't be shutting out half of my mods

CTT includes all of the stock node names, so parts that aren't CTT-aware will continue to appear in the same nodes where they appear in the stock tree. That may be earlier than a CTT-aware config would put them, but all of the parts will be usable and the arrangement will still mostly make sense.

TAC-LS has some recycler parts (currently residing in "Electronics") which would fit there. I'm working on an unofficial patch to make that change.

In RP-0 (which uses the CTT with many custom part placements) we use the recycling node for the TACLS and US air and water recyclers.

Both versions of SCANsat ([thread=80369]v8[/thread] and [thread=96859]v9[/thread]) support the CTT now; both use the same nodes in stock and CTT.

There are A LOT of mods using it, so it will be a long list.

In RP-0 (which uses the CTT with many custom part placements) we use the recycling node for the TACLS and US air and water recyclers.

I also move the TAC Universal Storage converters to the Recycling, Hydroponics and Habitation nodes in my KEP Patch. TAC US life support tanks goes to the Enhanced Survivability node. I also have Greenhouses in Hydroponics and Habitation nodes, but it will be for a future release of KEP.

First post has a link to a flowchart. You will likely be unhappy if that's what you want though, the goals of this project are not what you mention.

That is correct. You might want to look into Better Than Starting Manned. Although it doesn't play nice with other mods, as far as I am aware.

Alough it needs to up updated as procedural fairings are broken in it, Mod-Oriented Tech Tree in the dev section sounds like what you might be looking for.

I am not sure, but this might have to do something with 0.90 being released. I have noticed quite a few mods that definitely were on CKAN on 0.25, but failed to appear on 0.90 or got added back in later. I guess the Ckan metadata file will have to be updated, but for now, downloading from here will have to suffice.

I made some tweaks on the KW rocketry engines to be a little more in-line with stock KSP engines. You can find the post over here in the KW thread.

To coincide with that, I moved a couple of the KW engines in the CTT. I based the config off of the one from EMKAY. You can download the modded config here on dropbox.

Just to make sure that I get how this works correctly. Mods which don't explicitly support this tree should still 'work', in the sense that their parts should still be assigned to vanilla nodes, and those nodes are all still accessible?

That is correct.

The configs come with stock fallbacks. If it sees CTT and Tech Manager present (note: Present, not necessarily enabled) it will use the CTT ones. So if you are using Tech Manager with an alternate tree, or have it there and disabled but have CommunityTechTree in your GameData folder, you will see this.
