Who doesn't eat meat on good friday?

I can eat all the meat I want because I\'m not Christian. However, in about an hour and a half, I will be incapable of eating bread or any other leavened product for 8 days. :(

I\'m not a christian either..

My parents are.

So they make the rest of the family follow their traditions...

I can respect the keeping of a holy day by whatever means you see fit. I believe God is pleased with all kinds of commemorations. Any Christians reading this, be you Catholic or otherwise: keep your fast or your celebration, and whatever you do, do it for the right reasons.

Ping and Tim: My [Christian] church has a tradition of going through a passover Seder every year, so I ALSO had a Matzah, horseradish and applesauce sandwich. :)

When I told my mom and dad they didn\'t talk to me the whole week...

Ah how peaceful that week was....

I thought one of the major teachings of Jesus was to love and respect all other no matter who they are?

I\'m not Christian, but that dude had some good teachings, shame he was crazy.

I don\'t but only because, like joey, my parents are Christian, not me. Though they don\'t know that yet. I have more important things to deal with than revealing my beliefs or lack of beliefs to me family, would only cause unnecessary trouble. I mean, since I don\'t think a deity or anything exists, and therefore things involved with it are not relevant, I fail to see any great impending need for me to state my stance. But that\'s just me. I can respect someone who values their position enough to actively support it. Just don\'t go door to door and refuse to leave people alone.

Probably worth considering then - if the crazy guy is coming out with the good teaching, how come you\'re calling him crazy? :)

I\'m Christian, as are my parents, and I wasn\'t even aware that rule was supposed to exist. As far as I know, my denomination (United Church of Canada) never has any restrictions on what you can eat at any point, though I know my church does hold a Seder meal.

Because he thought he was the son of God and king of the Jews. But that\'s for an atheist. =P

There is some weird stuff in the Bible (old testament especially). If any large group of people really followed it to the letter then the world would be a considerably shittier place.

DayOne: That WOULD be crazy. Unless he was right. But big claims require big demonstrations; that\'s why Christians are big on Jesus\' resurrection. We think that coming back from the dead is a pretty good demonstration.

Now, it\'s fair to say 'That must be false because dead people don\'t come back.' But the thing is, we accept that to be the natural order - we say that in a miraculous event the natural order was defied.

Whether you believe it or not is a matter for faith (though there is some surprisingly strong evidence for it if you follow the history of the thing). However, the concept IS internally consistent.

Like what? Like the fact that nobody thought it was important or notable enough to take note of until thirty years later?

I have heaps of friends who don\'t, but I do (but your probably talking about something religious, which isn\'t the reason they are doing in, there vegetarians).
