How do you downgrade buildings?

I want to downgrade some of my buildings as a plot device for my upgrading to .90 of my YouTube series. Does anyone know where to find the section of code that will downgrade buildings? Or can you do it through some other method?

Can't you just create a new savegame and import your ships from the existing one?

You can specify the amount of starting money and science if that's a problem.

Open your persistent.sfs (BACK IT UP FIRST!) and look for "ScenarioUpgradeableFacilities"

The rest should be pretty obvious.

In general, when poking around the persistent file, I suggest just looking for the word "SCENARIO", it's right at the top of most everything you'd be looking for.

You could always pull a Danny2462 and crash some ships into them. That should "downgrade" them pretty well...

I might be remembering this wrong, but I seem to recall that Alt+Right-Clicking on buildings permits downgrading them... though I never actually got to trying it myself.

IIRC, from pre- and just-post-release devnotes/posts, you can rebuild destroyed buildings at a lower tier than they were before destruction.

Not sure if there's another way.

Hold the control key and rightclick a building, you will see the option to demolish the building, demolish it then control+rightclick it again, you will see the option to rebuild it to the tier below.

Thank you for all your help. Here is how it works:

First, ctrl+right click and demolish, then crtl+right click again and Rebuild lvl 1, then rinse and repeat to lvl 0
