Clamo-O-Tron magnets won't attach

Hi there, how come docking doesn't always "mate"? The magnet does not work. I'm working on a space station trying to attach using standard Clamp-o-tron. Like, wassup with that? I selected Control From Here on the docking clamp. The Target is set. I'm using a smoking new Lenovo Y50-70

You're sure the parts aren't bumping into each other, preventing the dock?

You've got a fair amount of mass there. Are you sure whether it's docking slowly, or not docking at all?

Try turning SAS off. At that close, the docking ports should automatically line up because of magnetism, but SAS will fight this and keep your ship from moving.

I'm making a space station with those parts myself so I've done this a certain number of times... The best strategy I've found is:

1-approach the station (<1.5km) and burn to bring your velocity relative to the target to 0m/s (or close)

2- using navyfish docking indicator allign your docking port with the desired port onto the station (you can selecting it from far away with this mod)

3- align your movement with the target port, meaning that the green lines must cross in the center ( where the white axis cross) and the orange circle needs to be in the center too. (you should reach this between 1.5km and 0.2km away from the station, going between 4 and 12 m/s and timewarping)

4-when you are completely alligned you can start your final approach lowering your speed the more close you are to the station, final docking speed should be more or less 0.2 m/s

to move the green cross just put the yellow marker (prograde or retrograde) in that direction, keeping in mind that if you see the retrograde it means you're going away from the station (try not to exceed 2km) and if you see prograde it means you're getting closer, so if you are going outside the 2.0km/0.2km region switch between the two to not get too close/far from the station. (once centered use the prograde marker to keep everything aligned)

Second...I agree with what has been said...turn SAS off when you are nearing the station.

Finally, I think this needs to be moved to Support (modded section).

Thanks all! Navy fish is a huge help. I did get it to dock. But..... I tried another rendezvous and it wouldn't stick: Note how SRS is off. See below

Has anything else been docked to that particular port on the station previously?

If so, the port's data might be corrupted. Something didn't get reset properly and it thinks it's not eligible for docking.

There's a number of threads in the support section talking about that particular bug and how to fix it.
