As far as I know, the original thread basically had all the moderators saying in chorus: "No"

So, no neg rep system probably. If you want to tell someone their post is stupid, say it to their face like a warrior in a battlefield, with honour and pride and ready to take the hit.

As opposed to a button on an internet forum. Moderators are busy enough probably, they don't want "stupid people slap fights", a phrase I coined from personal experience, caused by negative rep. "Why did you negative rep my post!?" would be sung in chorus, and the moderators would have to stand as a mighty bastion to prevent fights in the forum. As you can see, it's just best to leave it as is. If someones post is REALLY bad, then it's probably breaking the rules, so you could just report it...

Negative rep came with the forum software, which this forum decided not to use. But the function was still there, and some moderators decided to experiment with it to see if it would be useful. On the contrary: we made a dopey mistake and hit a forum member with negative rep. Also, the dummy account we made to experiment with it got loose on the forum somehow, and it became a joke and big mess. With this in mind, the negrep was completely disabled, and will not be seen again.

In summation, it's gone and not coming back, so do not expect to see any iron crowns that are other than red.
