Volumetric ring system - Rings with EVE

I didn't wanted to use Kittopia in my RSS config but I wanted rings. So I've created volumetric Rings with the help of EVE, I'm pretty happy with the result, look at it:

they have proper depth this way and aren't just flat. I could make Gilly a mid-ring-object as I wanted, and you can fly through them. Although the detail-volumetrics don't work quite right yet. I'm not too common with EVE so I might have to further look into it to get more volume. And the Shadowed area is a little big, because how EVE handles that.

But apart from that I'm pretty satisfied so far.

Just wanted to show the rings to the public, since I think rings weren't made with EVE before.

i need green rings for my jool. I pn all my concept arts, I have depicted jool with green rings, and I need so me one to make them before I start my jool mission, and you look like a go-to guy.

Although it looks great, I don't think planetary rings are possible this close to the host star. And not with a planet like Eve.

Very nice! Cheers to NathanKell for directing me here I don't usually hang out on these parts of the forums. I have a question, unless you were going for that style, why are there so many gaps in the ring system? I assume it takes it's toll on performance especially when it loads the volumetrics? Or that it'd be a pain to continuously write it out on the config/GUI?

I would recommend upgrading to the Overhaul for such a thing as it's a lot easier to work with and has some more features but it handles shadows weirdly. Anywhoo, looks very nice!

It was really tedious to do them. That are like ca.50 cloud layers above each other. So I'm really not tempted to do them for Jool, especially since my image of Jool is a Jupiter analouge (which has so thin rings that you can scratch them away).

But if you have the fun for it, you can just copy the cloud config, write everywhere where 'Ike' is a 'Jool', change the heights everywhere, since they are for a 27000km radius gas giant right now, and change the colors of every ring to the color you like

I tried the Overhaul before and I'm not sure what you mean exactly, how would it be easier with the Overhaul?

And yes the gaps come from the gaps of the cloud layers. It was partially intended and partially performance wise. You can double or triple the layer number but than you really start to get some performance lag while flying close to them

@everybody: I'm glad you like them. I really wonder why noone has tried this with EVE before (the mod, not the planet).

I already tried this option in the past http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/70693-WIP-Renaissance-Compilation-%28artworks-remake%29?p=1002657&viewfull=1#post1002657 but I'm afraid this option has the same problem as a flat ring: still looks pretty rare from some perspectives. Anyways, good work!
