MATADOR - Multi Role VTOL Lander
Dafni replied to Cupcake...'s topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Add some fins for some extra stability, and throttle back once you enter that critical phase. And be very gentle on the inputs. I ended up building my own LV for the matador, but used the general design idea from cupcake. Never did anything like that before, but I like it a lot. The stock one is nice, especially design wise, but I am afraid I am not a good enough pilot, I need some more stability and also prefer some more TWR off the pad. -
Cupcake's Dropship Dealership...
Dafni replied to Cupcake...'s topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
You're welcome, man. Giving back this kind of feedback is the least I can do. Maybe one day I'll have the balls to actually make a video or even just post a craft-file. Ah, I see, thanks for clearing the Moth/Puff situation up. Makes sense. Looking forward to some more CC tutorials indeed, curious how you use the newer building tools and limitations. Bring them on already! -
The Long Mars, by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter. It's the third book in the Long Earth series. I enjoyed those books a lot.

Do you expect your crafts to still work in 1.1?
Dafni replied to selfish_meme's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Very unlikely IMO -

What was the problem with the previous Puff Puff and Moth then? As far as I can tell they worked perfectly fine on my 1.0.4 install. Or at least I believe all the hard landings I did were due to my poor flying skills only Haven't had that much time to actually fly a Matador around, but I already love it. Thanks for sharing. And the design of your new LVs set off a whole cascade of design ideas here, thank you so much for that too. You have been my biggest inspiration in KSP by far. If it weren't for your VTOL landers I think I would have quit the game by now. You changed the way I look at the VAB/SPH, and now with a functional joystick I can finally work on my flying skills too. Usually I only fly your crafts for a short while before I start to copy or modify them, and the influence is obvious if you'd look at the stuff I come up with. Your old tutorial was a HUGE eye opener for me. So good to see you are still at it. Let's enjoy the crafts for as long as they last and hope we're still around when 1.1 lands. Looking forward to all future designs. cheers -Daf -
I don't like how it maxes out its limited memory capabilities in no time at all... the whole memory management seems to be in dire need of improvement. If it could use the full RAM that a computer provides, and would learn to rid the memory of unneeded information the game would be perfect for me (well maybe get rid of some bugs too, but the memory thing is the most annoying to me)

Epic Terrain Glitch

Holy Kraken! -
Spend some time in the VAB/SPH and worked on the skycrane for my Kuriosity rover. It's coming along nicely.
-
The Kraken ate my Jeb He was on a ladder when I changed scenes, and he just disappeared. Found him as KIA in the astronaut building under missing, and he does not get respawned for some reason, even though I have that option enabled.

Same here. Haven't played videogames since my teen years. Then discovered KSP some 20yrs later... and after about 100hrs of gameplay on my sons' gamer PC and steam account I had to go and get me a proper laptop and my own steam account... was kinda fed up with him monitoring my KSP hours I don't think I will buy any other games anytime soon, or install anything else than KSP on my new laptop. That game is really that good, I would have never believed I get sucked into "gaming" again. Only thing that is really a problem right now is switching that thing off. I guess we all know what I am talking about here

KSP Settings Reset Every Time
Dafni replied to whateverthing's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
I can't offer any help, but I want to report the same problem. Is this something that the Stock-Bugfix-Mod would fix?? Thanks -

The latest version of the Tadpole works fine for me, as far as I can tell. -
Was more a question than a correction, as I never used KER myself. I was just curious. I myself use MechJeb just to give me the numbers, so KER might be a more efficient solution.
-
Same here. All the lifters I have in rotation are 3.75m. I use them even for small LKO probes, which is definitely overkill. But I play science mode so I don't care about funds and stuff. I just find the 3.75m lifters to be more stable and easier to fly. The payload stuff is usually 2.5m, as I believe is most common anyway.
-
Holy mother, and some people take that serious?? Some of the comments on there.... someone even quoted the Bible, always a reassuring thing when you discuss science
-
Do you really need KER for that when you already have MechJeb?? Doesn't MechJeb give you the same numbers too??

Just want to let you guys know that my joystick works now. I don't know what the issue was, my mate who is a tech head updated all my "drivers and stuff", looked hard and long at setting files, unplugged and replugged everything a couple times, mumbled all kinds of tech mantras (lots of swearing and cussing) and suddenly it would just work. He couldn't explain why, I'm just glad it works now. No issues whatsoever since then, settings stay persistent and all that. So relieved! Thanks to all who tried to help.

Graphics Resolution upgrade
Dafni replied to Icemanau's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I would also welcome a high res upgrade. When I set the games resolution to 3860x2160 to match my laptop screen all the UI are microscopic. -
Thank you!
-
Very cool mission! And very nicely documented too, I enjoyed it! How about some craft files?? I'd be interested in your Odin11to14
