  1. Wow, very nice. Congratulations, and good luck with the lectures. BTW, playing KSP as preparation for lectures???... sounds like you found a cool job/position
  2. Awesome! Thank you! Scythe works too (I know what it is, but I have no idea how to pronounce it )
  3. Well, since it evolved from a gnat I would suggest The Mosquito! If you have a download ready for the weekend I will include one in my first Duna fleet that is parked in LKO at the moment. The mission is planed for Saturday night. I could add my own LV, no problem there, would be my pleasure to test it out on Duna.
  4. Thank you so much for this advice! I never thought about it like that, but it makes perfect sense. Gotta go through my lifters now, I am sure I can improve their willingness to gravity-turn. I always put my fins all the way to the back and often have to fight them into the turn, thinking the rocket is almost too stable Thanks again, great community, great game. cheers to one and all
  5. If you stand your Kerbal on the "windshield" (which is actually a radial intake, I believe) the "press B to board" should appear.
  6. After reading this thread, I have not much to add, just: I LOVE KSP! What a game we have here. @OP, great post, thank you very much, you gave me tons to think about.
  7. If you are speaking of the Moth, I'm not entirely sure it will work on Duna. If you have MechJeb or KER you can check the numbers in the VAB, you want a TWR that's bigger than 1 on the planet you want to use it.
  8. Thank you, looks interesting. I think I'll slap that one on and give it a try, if I'm not happy with what KAC provides that is. Want to look into that before I add another mod. Or is this the same in the end? Like this one is already implemented in KAC? Guess I should just go and check, right
  9. Now this is very neat indeed! Beats the stationary refueling rig I built on all levels
  10. Oh wow, I never knew that, and I even have it installed already thanks for pointing this out, I will have to look into it, sounds very convenient. It never occurred to me it could be a KAC feature, if anything I would have started to look at MechJeb or a dedicated phase angle mod.
  11. Hello KSP gang, just wondering if anyone of you out there has made something like a calendar of transfer windows?? IIRC I saw something like this on here before, at least for one single planet I think. Thanks in advance Daf
  12. You made a LV for the Moth too? Definitely gonna check it out as soon as I get the chance. The last Moth I used was sent up on one of my own rockets IIRC. At the moment I have some Matadors on Mun and Minmus, and I look forward to add one to my Duna fleet. Never did interpanetary stuff yet, but I have a Duna window coming up and some nice stuff parked in LKO. Working on a ISRU refuelling rig for the Matadors at the moment, guess I end up with something like you did for the Tadpole/Toad. How is the Puff Puff on Duna, btw?? I'm stuck with Minmus for the Moth for the time being, but once I get the hang of interplanetary stuff I look forward to test it some more.
  13. Nice one! I vote advanced Matador tutorial for the next one, but of course the Moth one shouldn't be too far behind
  14. Add some fins for some extra stability, and throttle back once you enter that critical phase. And be very gentle on the inputs. I ended up building my own LV for the matador, but used the general design idea from cupcake. Never did anything like that before, but I like it a lot. The stock one is nice, especially design wise, but I am afraid I am not a good enough pilot, I need some more stability and also prefer some more TWR off the pad.
  15. You're welcome, man. Giving back this kind of feedback is the least I can do. Maybe one day I'll have the balls to actually make a video or even just post a craft-file. Ah, I see, thanks for clearing the Moth/Puff situation up. Makes sense. Looking forward to some more CC tutorials indeed, curious how you use the newer building tools and limitations. Bring them on already!
  16. The Long Mars, by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter. It's the third book in the Long Earth series. I enjoyed those books a lot.
  17. What was the problem with the previous Puff Puff and Moth then? As far as I can tell they worked perfectly fine on my 1.0.4 install. Or at least I believe all the hard landings I did were due to my poor flying skills only Haven't had that much time to actually fly a Matador around, but I already love it. Thanks for sharing. And the design of your new LVs set off a whole cascade of design ideas here, thank you so much for that too. You have been my biggest inspiration in KSP by far. If it weren't for your VTOL landers I think I would have quit the game by now. You changed the way I look at the VAB/SPH, and now with a functional joystick I can finally work on my flying skills too. Usually I only fly your crafts for a short while before I start to copy or modify them, and the influence is obvious if you'd look at the stuff I come up with. Your old tutorial was a HUGE eye opener for me. So good to see you are still at it. Let's enjoy the crafts for as long as they last and hope we're still around when 1.1 lands. Looking forward to all future designs. cheers -Daf
  18. I don't like how it maxes out its limited memory capabilities in no time at all... the whole memory management seems to be in dire need of improvement. If it could use the full RAM that a computer provides, and would learn to rid the memory of unneeded information the game would be perfect for me (well maybe get rid of some bugs too, but the memory thing is the most annoying to me)
