  1. an interesting note for starting a new career, stacking fleas and lighting them in sequence will cause the bottom one to keep exploding, letting you go much higher on the first launch without decouplers. and if you use some fins and turn them to an angle to making your rocket spin, you can make the returning part spin around unstable causing enough drag to slow you down for your chute, even tho your essentially an arrow lol you can get the first 5 science nodes from the first launch on normal.
  2. the only planet i ever have trouble with would be moho, and thats largely cause i like to use ion thrusters that close to the sun. but from the sound of things. my guess the reason your relative velocity is so high is because of your intercept trajectory. are you meeting your destination a good deal away from your AP/pe? are you having to raise your ap much higher than the orbit of your destination in order to get the encounter? edit.: think about it the same way you would for rendezvous and docking, if your meetig point is tofar from the ap/pe and if your inclinations are off, it adds to the relative velocity you need to cancel out to match speeds.
  3. i just checked with a quick search on ps4 for the word kerbal and found nothing. so im pretty sure it isnt still on the store
  4. as of now its only available in north america i believe. the first port job was horrid, flying tiger screwed it up. while you can technically play it, there is a save bug that will ruin all progress every one in a while, which is sort of a game breaker. so squad hired blitworks to start from scratch and redo it. we are waiting for word now on when itll go into certification. we tend to get our updates on fridays
  5. the original company that handled the port screwed up, after months of messing around the were ditched and squad hired a new company, Blitworkz, to start from scratch porting a later more stable build. while we dont have a time frame for release, they have told us a few days ago they will let us know when it enters certification. this somewhat emplies itll be soon. so there are real meaningful plans for a major update, its just a matter of waiting and we dont know exactly when.
  6. been a while since ive been around, but its the first time ive noticed them use the C word, unless ive missed it before. That word being certification. The fact that they mention they will be letting us know when they enter the process some what implies they expect it to be relatively soon. ( i hope) other wise i suspect we would still be getting the standard "still working on bugs" bit. This is where the flying tiger port failed, it had major problems in cert. And while not 100 percent, pretty sure Sony outside of NA never gave it the go, which made the world wide launch a no go. fingers crossed we get that word in the next couple weeks
  7. They dont even really exist anymore, sony sold it off a couple years ago and it became daybreak
  8. i cant remember the weight difference for the crew cabin so youll have to build it and rerun the deltav calc. i dont THINk it should be a problem, but not sure.
  9. i have one on my computer but im stuck at work.. lol wish i could upload a shot of it. lander can and material bay +4 sparks. 24 of the smallest tanks, divided into groups of 6 and placed in 4 part symmetry around the bay. sparks on the bottom. 4 chutes on the top of them. 3 drogue chutes on the side. crank the min pressure as low as it goes. ooen the drogues nice and high, set the mains for 3k. you'll need a bit of thrust to soften landing but not much.
  10. the chances of them arriving at the exact same time are relatively low. I am currently doing a duna mission and i did my transfer burn for each at roughly the same time. I finished one, switched vessels and did the other, so they were at most 1 orbit apart (100km parking). with nodes that looked almost identical and the first vessel arrived 11 hours after the second lol. you shouldnt have to much trouble just going for it, writing down the encounter dates and making any corrections
  11. There are alot of little tricks for gaining more science. as mentioned above pulling results out help alot, as you can then run new test. and it gets easier when you unlock the science container since it can do it for you much faster. one of the biggest tips i can give is to learn what are global and biome specific, as well as the altitude marks different levels. and after that(if you not opposed to using information sources) study some biome maps. http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Science can give you alot of that info. and has links to the planet and moon pages so you can find the biome maps with that information in hand, its best to plan your mission before launch. eg. where are you going, and what biomes will you pass along the way. WHen fully planned you can create a checklist and grab them as you go. If you upgrade to get your EVA for when you reach orbit, the first time your in orbit you can grab a miminum of 5 EVA reports in low orbit. You can also often get an extra EVA report when your landed on a surface by jumping and quickly hittin report. so long as you havent got that biome yet lol
  12. ive had satelite contracts that are impossible to finish, when i come across these ill put it in an orbit as close to what it wants and f12 it to completion. the first time it happened, it wanted me to put a satelite in what was essentially the muns orbit, but retrograde. so no matter what i could possibly do, it would have to hit the mun within 1 orbit so it would always habe an encounyer and never be able to meet its requirements. i opted to place it slightly higher in orbit lol
  13. I could try that to, i wanna do alot of testing before i launch the real thing. doing a half sized would probably be easier on a ksp note, im gonna take the logos you can put on rockets in game and make stickers i can put in my rockets lol
  14. thanx that looks like full length. now i just need a 4 foot cardboard sheet lol
  15. hmm okay ill try that. should i have the 4 fins straight up n down/side to side. or should they be angled. as itll effect the length of them in the cut out
  16. well its more or less a macgyver rocket rather than a model rocket lol
  17. what is the easiest way to find center of pressure on a rocket? *not in game* lol to calculate it, i think im supposed to take the COP for all parts, then using the average distance for the sum from a specific reference frame. not 100 percent sure if thats correct, and not 100 percent sure how to calculate each piece to begin with. do we have a thread with info on this?
  18. once you know where its easy to get to and find wiithout a map. its right around that little lake lol dont often land there, but always get its low orbit eva report. infact the only time i can remember landing is when i did the caveman challenge
  19. I know it doesnt answer the question, but i often put a science container on the decoupler below the command pod + heat shield, and have it "collect all" throughout the mission, then just before re-entry, eva and grab them all, hop back into the pod and just bring the data back lol
  20. if you want to orbit the mun, you have to do another burn while in the muns sphere of influence to slow you down. Just like your orbit around kerbin, when you raised and lowered your Ap to get the mun encounter, when you get to the mun, your Ap is so far out, that you leave the SOI. SO burning retrograde, (as you would to come down from kerbin orbit) will lower the other side, eventually bringing the Ap within the muns SOI, putting yourself into muns orbit. blue is the track you are currently on, Orange is the track that is within the targets SOI, if you focus view on the Mun you can see what your path will look like when you get there. Purple is your path for after you leave the muns SOI.
  21. correcting inclination at the far edge of eve soi isnt all that bad, especially ifyou can get your pe close to you an/dn. but you can also do it at your relative an/dn while in the suns soi. if your not going anywhere near one on your journey, your interplanetary transfer is most likely highly inefficient or you launched while exactly at it, without realizing and put yourself on the wrong ejection angle so failed match its inclination from the get go. something i do for moho (yes i know this is quesion is about eve but its the planet i use this trick for) ill put a satelite opposite of kerbin around the sun, with a perfectly matched inclination. you can them switch to it when you want and select the target you wanna visit with a craft you wanna launch, it will show you the an/dn relative to it, which will be the same for kerbin as the inclinations are matched. so you can watch in map view until kerbin is at one of those points to launch. ofcourse with eve its better to launch during a window but its one way to see your relative inclination while still around kerbin
  22. use thw view feature to look at your encounter and try to get your an/dn as close to the pe as possible, then capture yourself with the highest ap possible and do the inclination correction there.
  23. panels that can rotate are the next science node along the electronics section. im not sure of any mod that will solve that issue, For manned flight bringing on extra battery with it in the off position for emergencies is the way to go, but for unmanned its best to make sure you leave your vessel facing a direction thatll give it power, or even keep the mechjeb part window open and disable it before you go to warp. I always play with the resource tab popped open by clicking on it. and at some point that sat will get power again if it has panels on it, unless they are facing exactly 90 degrees away from the sun, its just a matter of waiting until youve gone around orbit enough to bring them back into alignment lol if your hell bent on getting it working again asap, and know how to rendezvous and dock, you can always nudge it into a spin.. but thats alot of work for a simple sat lol
  24. as mentioned by others, feel free to ask anything. sometimes rather than trying to find a tutorial to explain things, its easier to explain your own situation and ask for specific help on what you are trying to do. it makes it easier for everyone since no one has to assume anything. and while i dont want to speak for others, it can be a real joy to answer questions and give a hand to those that need it, plus sometimes even we learn new things in the discussions. this is my favorite part of the forum lol and love seeing new questions pop up. You can think of this as a mentoring section
  25. rcs is for docking/rendezvous. or for adjusting your orbital period to match the rest of the relay network. solar panels deoend in what your using power for, but generally you dont need alot if you have enough battery. unless its a huge sat, 1 battery should be enough for around kerbin
