  1. I like this! You should make a second version which has no canopy for the cockpit, and is completely smooth with the rest of the shape. Perfect UAV front!
  2. kcs123, it's because it's a space shuttle with external tank on the belly, it rolls a bit funny. MJ's smart ass surf mode compensates well enough, kOS less so. A quick question, what command would I use to activate an action group? I want my program to unfurl solar panels and antennae at set times. e: Also, someone tell me I'm not crazy. I made a conventional rocket, and it stages when I still have a third of the liquid fuel left in the 1st stage tank. I have no idea why.

  4. I tried this with a line of code to fly straight up to 10k before a turn. The entire way up it rotates left to right constantly. e: I am using FAR if that could be causing issues. e2: I think the reason the original kos code of "lock steering to up + R(0,-75,270)." is that it is just like pressing Q or E on the keyboard. This would be fine for a conventional rocket, but as a shuttle is largely assymetrical, the pitch is not compensated for, so I need to figure out a different way to do this. I can however set MJ's SMART ASS SURF mode to 90head, 7 pitch, 0 roll prior to launch and have the program end at 55000m, and MJ would take over and complete the roll for me. Cheaty? Yes, but it gets the job done.

Hi Wercho, I tried using this with a basic setup of Mk1-2 pod and a fuel tank with engine, and with the "lock steering to lookdirup(heading(90,15):forevector, (-1)*ship:up:forevector)." it would roll wildly from one extreme to the other. Is there any other way I can manage a roll from inverted to heads up position?
  6. Curious issue with .34 is that with camera tools, I get transparent wings on medium to high zoom. Will screenshot it when I get back from work
  7. I'm slowly getting the hang of this. Now, everything works beautifully up until it's time for the roll from inverted to upright at 55000m. It does the roll, but very slowly, and will sort end up pointing the nose like 30 degrees off from prograde. I've got the main engines and OMS set to full auto trim level, but I think the lack of SRBs is making this difficult to handle. I've tried it with RCS enabled too, with no joy. I should point out that MJ's surf mode does the roll flawlessly (although kOS handles the pitchover maneuvers much smoother).
  8. Hi, I'm actually not running SAS at all. I thought it was because my design uses gimbal auto trim, but I made a simple mk1 cockpit, 2 fuel tanks and an lvt-45, and whilst it rolled to the 180 degrees position, it immediately returned to a 90 deg roll. Is there any other ways I can induce my shuttle's roll and pitch programs? e: THIS IS EMBARRASSING. I was assuming that + R(0,0,180) would be like putting 90, 90, 180 into MJ's SURF mode. 180 in SURF is 90 in kOS...
  9. I think I am getting something very wrong here. I'm new to all this, and I'm trying to make an automated ascent profile for my shuttle. Now, it's obviously not complete, but I'm running into problems early on. The countdown and stagings work fine, but when it gets to the > 200 it makes a very half-hearted attempt at the roll program, and then it just defaults back to the 90 degree roll.
  10. I have not had a proper go at working with kOS, but is it possible to allow the user (me) to have full control over the throttle, but have kOS deal with Heading, Pitch and Roll? Basically like having a pre-determined MechJeb Smart ASS SURF mode.
  11. One thing I would love to see in MJ, is a sort of programmable Smart ASS SURF Mode. I find that SURF mode is more reliable with making an ascent to orbit with FAR than the Ascent guidance (this is with Sarbian's FAR module). For instance, you could queue up some commands, such as this, which is my NASA style shuttle ascent profile I stick to for MJ with FAR. Launchpad: Heading 90, Pitch 90, Roll 90 200m: Heading 90, Pitch 70, Roll 180 7500m: Heading 90, Pitch 55, Roll 180 12000m: Heading 90, Pitch 35, Roll 180 22000m: Heading 90, Pitch 5, Roll 180 36000m: Heading 90, Pitch 0, Roll 180 48000m: Heading 90, Pitch 10, Roll 0 I don't know if anyone is really interested in this idea, I just thought I would put it out there.
  12. Paul Kingtiger, I did some very slow adjustments to the orbit of a satelite, and a Kerbin Stationary Orbit is 4.306 MegaMeters.
  13. Things will get interesting in some cases. If they are in an orbit that would be inside the planet if it is double scaled, then say goodbye to that craft. I made a copy of my career save and installed K2, and my commsat network ended up very close to eachother (they were 90 deg apart before), but were in a stable orbit. I need to work out what Kerbstationary orbit is now...
  14. Well, I created a new install to try this out on a whim, and I think this mod is here to stay for me. Thank you for this. Can I ask, though: Do you have plans to change the secondary launch sites visually? Someone has infact made a Baikonour Cosmodrome in KerbalKonstructs is all.
  15. One of the things I have been doing lately is using a procedural fairings fairing base (the cage style one) as a cage to separate two tanks similar to how a few 2nd stages are, such as the Delta IV 2nd stage.
  16. Sometimes I almost get the urge to go through my parts list and reduce the dry mass of fuel tanks by hand. When a 30 ton tank's dry mass is 10%, that's pretty crazy.
  17. Everything seems to work for me, except for that the atmosphere is incredibly dense looking and too thick? e: I fixed the issue by carrying over a previous EVE Overhaul folders from another .90 install. No idea what caused that.
  18. I really think that Mk2 Escape cover should allow for a Clamp-O-Tron (1.25 standard size) to sit between it and the Mk1-2 pod.

  20. Nice work as usual. I've got a suggestion for your shuttle pack. I did some measuring on the real shuttle (based against the size of the Shuttle's cockpit from the nose to the start of the cargo bay) and compared that against the Mk3 cockpit and your nose. The dimensions are spot on, however something needs ammending. For the dimensions of a Mk3 KSP shuttle to be accurate to the real one, you would need a long cargo bay, and HALF of a short cargo bay. Is there any way you could make a half sized short cargo bay?
  21. Hi, I've got a fairly heavily modded ksp. I suddenly started to get a strange behaviour on attaching certain items such as the stock launch clamps, or near future solar panels: [Error]: Actor::updateMassFromShapes: Can't compute mass from shapes: must have at least one non-trigger shape! It spams this in the editor, and I am then unable to move highlight and move the part I just placed. There seems to be no errors in flight scene, and the part works as intended.
