  1. I have to say, version 1.0 seems to be significantly less stable than 0.90. I used to be able to play all day without an issue. Now the game crashes fairly regularly. In fact, I've had a total of maybe 10 crashes ever while playing KSP. 9 of those were in 1.0.
  2. I fully expect Squad will not make changes that make saves break. However, I would not be surprised if new features/tweaks make a save useless, or mean you really need to start a new save to get the benefit of that change. This is especially true of career saves.
  3. It's so long ago now, I can barely remember. I do remember there were no landing legs - so I was using fins as landing legs. I also took a number of attempts before I was successful. I have a vivid memory of my first Minmus encounter though. I was having a nightmare of a time getting an intercept even. When I finally got close enough to see it, I pointed at the moon and burned towards it. Probably one of the stupidest things I could have done (that plus time accelerating closer). I "landed" at about 1000 m/s, screaming as I was going in!
  4. That would certainly explain why my working rockets from .90 didn't work in 1.0. SRBs for me just feel less powerful. And now that you mentioned the price has gone up, it seems like they are pointless. Besides, I have already stopped using them in my career save.
  5. Hahaha. That's the very video that got me into KSP! I was very into Minecraft at the time, and followed Etho, Guude and the Mindcrack crowd in general, One day I noticed Kurt had this KSP game and thought my son would like it. Bought it for him almost straight away. Then I started playing it (more than my son). And as they say, the rest is history.
  6. No way. KSP requires some level of intelligence to play, but idiots with flint and steel can play minecraft.
  7. You can't see the rescue missions though, until the mission is accepted. I think this would be good to have. Also, this probably should be in the suggestions forum.
  8. When I first read about this feature, I was rather disappointed (Harvesters long overdue feature), thinking it was completely useless/unneeded. Now that I am playing with it in the game, it's one of my favorite things!
  9. In my opinion the testing contracts should be giving more science. However, they should also be limited - 1 part, 1 test only. For example, test LV-N in Kerbin orbit and get say 50 science. Once you've done it, it's never offered again.
  10. There are a few more biomes there: Flag pole and I think 2 of the tank structures (at least 1) count as a biome - next to the VAB and 1 in the R&D section I think.
  11. It'd be so funny if the devs are sitting there, reading this, going OMG...I didn't notice that! But it's too much of a coincidence...someone must be responsible for this!
  12. I'm finding the chase cam to not even be oriented correctly, after re-positioning it behind the craft. In 0.90 you could use it so you could know which way to steer, particularly when docking. Now it seems to be completely off, making things a lot harder.
  13. I've set the strategy to convert funds to science at about 30%, for 2 reasons: 1. I seem to be swimmiing in money. 2. I don't seem to be getting much science. Both of these things may or may not be related to Kerbals doing stupid things and getting stuck in orbit.
  14. This is one of the thing fueling those conspiracy theories that it is not him. I was so happy to see his video ... though it seemed a little different to what I was used to from him. Possibly my mind has just built him up to some legendary level though. Or possibly he's just 2 years older, and a changed person.
  15. Docking in gravity is hard, no matter who you are - though I do suspect the new pilot abilities help.
  16. I actually like going to Dres. I had a refueling station set up there in my biggest space program, while Eeloo didn't, back in 0.21 (I think). I intend to set up one again, with the new ISRU system.
  17. I've designed a ship that takes 4 tourists at a time, while in the Kerbin system. I've gone to the Mun (orbit), Minmus (landing - just to science) and home again. This ship also doubles as a rescue ship - rescue 4 Kerbals per trip.
  18. I disagree. If the purpose of KSP was to make our own campaign, why introduce career mode? I think(hope) the devs have something more planned for career mode. Currently career mode is virtually pointless as it is.
  19. I'm honestly surprised at how popular it is! I think also my poll s flawed, I probably should of had an option for "liked it at a reduced level", as it seems that is what a lot are using. I may need to try it again!
  20. When I first heard of the camera shake, I thought it'd be a cool effect. The very first time I experienced it, I turned it off, because it was very annoying, and slightly nauseating. So, does anyone use it?
  21. Great to hear, but can't seem to find the information you are referring to. I managed to reproduce it and now it wont go away. Is there any work around? It seems to happen specifically when time warping through the model load range (2.3 - 2.4km). I remember having a similar problem in earlier versions, where space stations would spontaneously explode in the same situation.
  22. I just experienced the strangest bug. I was in orbit of Minmus, closing in for a rendezvous of a pod to rescue a Kerbin on a rescue contract. My closest approach was about 1km, so I was time accelerating to get in close -move about 2m/s relative to the pod. Suddenly, the pod exploded, killing Jendi Kerman. I checked F3 and it was due to over heating. I wasn't firing any engines, so there was nothing that should have been heating the pod. Also the pod was the 3 man pod, at least it was the second time round. I quickly hit alt-F4, and reloaded the game. Unfortunately, I couldn't reproduce the problem when I rendezvoused again, so I have no idea how it happened. I'm running on windows 8.1, completely unmodded.
  23. I currently have 15 Kerbals working for me, with a limit of 12, and I've not hired a single Kerbal. I know there are a few more in need of rescue still. I'm currently rescuing 4 at a time when I can. I am kind of getting tired of it - but on the plus side I am building up a good team! The other good thing is, rescued Kerbals always get xp to start with, so are invariably level 1 from the get go. I feel that they should have limited the rescue mission so you could not exceed the maximum of the astronaut complex (ie if no more capacity, no more rescue missions), but it's good money so I wont complain too much.
  24. Completely agree with Regex here. I've been on a fairly long break from KSP, because I'd mostly mastered it. This update makes KSP feel like a brand new game, which is a good thing, but at the same time it comes with issues. Yes, it's not as polished as it should be, but it's a lot of fun!
  25. I joined the forum sometime around end of 2012, and then got wiped out by the forum crash. Prior to joining, I lurked for about 6 months.
