  1. Hype produces enough upthrust that proper aerodynamics are not required.
  2. Wow, for a person who has only done a flyby of Eve (and that in two versions ago) that really looks spectacular. Congrats! I think you can regard yourself as an expert now, according to the poll in General Discussion. Still, no science? Jeb demands SCIENCE!
  3. KSP Mobile! available at your nearest Appstore or Google Play Store for free! *In-app purchases available
  4. Cool Beans! Now I have to go check this out for myself. And search for more little tweaks in this update.
  5. Although I am enthused that 0.23.5 has arrived, I still wanted to wait for .24 before updating KSP. BUT this reduction of water lag, as reported by all you fine gents have forced my hand. Throw out the struts and asparagus, Jeb's going to chase an asteroid! For science!
  6. Wow! Reminds me of old DOS games, particularly BARIS and the excellent X-Wing & Tie Fighter Series. KSP certainly fits well if done in the theme and styling of early 90's PC games. It has that pioneering spirit befitting those games that broke new ground for the video games industry, which KSP is also doing. Exciting stuff, really puts things into perspective.
  7. Yeah, but the Rods From The Gods concept requires (IIRC) gravity slingshots and long distance maneuvers. This, on the other hand, only requires an obscene amount of delta-v. Which is quite fitting, as COD can be characterised as a big, lumbering franchise that requires large amounts of resources to achieve a large impact that can be obtained at a much lower cost with some intelligent, quality planning.
  8. 230 hours here, and I still haven't reached Jool yet . Started at .20, and a few weeks later .21 came out. Before that, played the demo to death.
  9. Pretty amazing how rewarding experiencing something amazing and new is, even though we might take it for granted today. Beyond all the Cold War propaganda and scientific discovery brought about by the space race, and the Apollo missions, the one legacy that will endure forever is the spirit of human exploration and endeavour. And it survives to this day, even in something as simple as launching little green men to the Mun. Or failing that, blowing them up on the launchpad. For Kerbalkind.
  10. If .24 is going to focus on economy and reputation, then I foresee large changes in the tech tree and how we acquire parts. Still, career is a WIP, which is to say that there are more parts of it broke than parts already done.
  11. That sounds pretty awesome. Why did Nova ever have to leave the dev team? He seems to have a lot of cool ideas that could be implemented into the game.
  12. Uh oh. Looks like we have awakened the Whack. Nobody should ever challenge him. And we should never have. May god have mercy on our souls (and Kerbals).
  13. 0.625m solid boosters! But before any new parts are added, Squad should focus on improving the look and feel of the existing parts (art pass, IVAs, retexturing, balancing). Something like what happened to the landing legs. And then on to new parts!
  14. Keep in mind, the poll is about Better aerodynamics, not computer-meltingly-realistic aerodynamics. It doesn't have to add complexity. In fact, it can make the game easier (eg reward simple, efficient single stack rocket designs instead of asparagus behemoths)
  15. A (somewhat?) relevant xkcd post on this topic: http://what-if.xkcd.com/72/
  16. Massive performance increases might also be related to the fact that many people are currently running full stock and clean installs, whereas previously they might have a metric c**-ton of mods installed. Still, scene changes are noticeably faster now, thanks to Squad. Now, where's my 64-bit Unity for Windows, Unity Dev Team?
  17. This. Maybe we can also have something like the science archives, but instead keeps track of your crews. And then folks, we are on to a winner.
  18. I present : The Space Station - Experimental II or SS-E II. I built this station just because it was cool and who doesn't want to build a cool station in KSP? Originally, the core module (with the Gigantor panels) was supposed to be an attempt at recreating Skylab, but then I added my mini-Salyut-like-thing already in orbit and a sciencey module just to make it look like it has a purpose (it's in sandbox btw). Fits two Kerbals snugly, but the part count is quite high compared to it's size(too many unoptimized bits and bobs were added for aesthetics only). Still prety proud of it though. The Gemini is from the excellent FASA Gemini and Mercury pack. The rest of the station is stock, with the exception of a couple Kerbal Engineer chips.
  19. Love the 'train left me behind' look. The mood at my KSC has been solemn as today we honour the fallen Kerbals from .22 before the release of .23.
  20. Awesome little thing, very Kerbal-like. I can imagine Jeb just holding down left mouse button as he burns towards the Sun yelling "M0AR B00STERS!!" while sitting in his craft, waiting for Duna rendezvous or something.
  21. Cheaper, and mostly easier. Right now, the amount of science gained from transmissions is the same as recovering the science, only thing is you have to grind multiple transmissions (which requires a healthy power supply) whereas recovering it gives you all the science points at once. Which can be risky especially when returning science from faraway places like Eeloo or Jool, but might be worth it. I think no matter what method you use (transmissions or recoveries), the tech tree does sort of force you to search for science outside of the Kerbin system as you progress further. Unless you plan on draining every last bit of science from Kerbin and its Muns, which is tedious and defeats the purpose of the science system. I'm pretty Squad will tweak how the science system works in later updates.
  22. The OP mentioned planet/moon/star and imo technically Dres does not qualify because it is an asteroid/dwarf planet, very much like it's real-life counterpart Ceres. JK aside, I think Dres is underrated. I have sent EDIT: am sending a rover to Dres (my first mission to Dres), but .23 is coming out soon, so hard to choose between updating or completing my mission first
  23. Basically singing it with the background as any Danny2462 video ever.
