  1. Decided to build crewed base to go with my refinery, now I just need a (flat) place to land it on. Radio tower hangar Runway (some asembly required) Experiments
  2. Try autostruting the rotor asembly, replacing the outward facing engines with one placed on the very end of the tail and changing the prop pitch. Also replacing the small evelons with linear RCS ports could help you to make it more compact and reduce drag.
  3. The main probem I see with J-33 is that its exhaust does not affect other crafts, unlike the other jet engines, and as such it cant be used to build turboshaft-based aircraft.
  4. Reusable torpedo rack from my carrier craft.
  5. Not sure how well known this is: you can hold down shift key in offset mode to move parts waay beyond the usual offset limit.
  6. Made some progress: replaced the prop with kraken-proof one, rebuild the bearing and added reaction wheels, so it can get in the air with just 4 patnhers. Trouble is, it just wobles around and it falls over on landing .
  7. After 8 or so hours of experiments, i learned two things: 1.) J-33s dont produce any thurst what-so-ever. 2.) Kraken likes to snack on evelons.
  8. Radialy atachable batteries, I used to put exessive amouth of them on everything, now i use one or two inline packs. Also struts, thanks to the autostrut function I olny use them for aesthetic.
  9. Rebuild my smaller mothership from scratch, cut its part count nearly in half and added a cetrifuge.
  10. Stage 1: 0:00:49 - 0:20:22 - 19m 11s Stage 2: 0:20:22 - 0:46:58 - 26m 36s Stage 3 : 0:46:58 - 1:13:28 - 26m 0s Stage 4: 1:13:28 - 1:33:44 - 20m 16s Stage 5: 1:33:44 - 1:54:57 - 21m 13s Stage 6: 1:54:57 - 2:13:27 - 18m 30s Stage 7: 2:13:27 - 2:28:28 - 15m 1s Total time 2h 26m 47s Sreenshots: Video:
  11. Are modifications/ replacements allowed between stages? I reallized too late that my rover doesnt have enough fuelcells.
  12. In the last couple of days i designed two refueling stations ASR Mk 1 (Automated Surface Refinery) and ARP Mk 1 (automated refueling pod), launched the former into orbit and failed at building a crane to land it on the Mun.
  13. Struts + autostruts is what I use, ridgid attachment works better but can cause blades to snap off when stressed (steep climb/ descent etc.). It doesnt help that much, Id say olny about 10-15% better than autostruts alone.
  14. It was a lot less eventfull than that: I was about 2.5k up, descending down to the island runway when two puffs of smoke came out of engine 1, I checked the flight log to find that one blade and RTG were gone. So after pulling up and staging the fairing, i watched wobly SAS-noodle spiraling its way into the ocean.
  15. Continuing work on my carrier/ mothership, crew section is almost complete, main hull plating is in place and so are medium torpedo bays. Just under 2000 parts so far. Inside of the hangar, still without inner plating and docking clamps.
  16. Currently working on (fairing based) Mk 2 engine, but Im having trouble with kraken eating the propeler blades and RTGs. On the latest test flight I had to ditch an engine after one of its blades "colided with the fairing".
  17. I refined the engine a bit more: removed stack separator and cubic octagonal strut (from the rotor) and replaced them with docking port jr. instead. So its now posible to redock them to the aircraft, preventing phys-load explosions. Also, I´ve build new aircraft, C-27j, 26 tons and max speed of 50m/s https://www.dropbox.com/s/20hxgw9mwwezhi1/C-27 J Mk1.craft?dl=0
  18. Reinstal fixed it, i gues something was corrupted.
  19. I discovered this when trying to build rotor bearing and the rotor just fell on the ground. Basicaly the fairings dont colide with ground, buildings or other spacecraft until the fairings themselfs are decoupled (staged), olny then they start to colide. Separated fairing segments also seem to ignore gravity as (when staged on the ground) they endlessly spin and float up after bouncing of the ground.
  20. Driving around KSC. And apparently failing to post images properly
