so my game crashes (or freeze for a really looong time) when I'm changing my soi from Rhode to Lua (I'm playing on beyond kerbin) I have a lot of mods installed and the reason of the crash seems to be that, but I'm not sure. it might just be a good old out of memory error. in case of the last one how can I make my ksp use less memory logfile https://www.dropbox.com/s/ivr95f3cstfpnpi/KSP.log?dl=0 modlist https://imgur.com/a/zqMVNP5 Edit: confirmed it happens because out off memory error seems to be a memory leak no idea why it leaks tho also, it doesn't crash rather freezes for an infinite amount of time. memory gets stuck at 10.5 GB of ram for a long time then starts going down slowly if i left the game running for a long time it might un freeze

Hi all, hopefully someone can help me troubleshoot. I'm getting pretty frequent "crashes" where KSP will stop responding and then Windows tells me to Close or Wait for the Program. Over the past couple years of playing KSP, occasionally I'll get these, but now it seems a lot more frequently. I have a suspicion it's related to completing contracts in my Career Game, at least I'm getting semi-consistent crashes when I've completed my last 2-3 contracts. Hello guys, I have just switched my computer and as I was doing that I reinstalled the Steam app and then KSP on the new one. So i can play for a few min without it crashing but when i change locations (flight to command center or hanger to launchpad) after about 30 min it will crash. I have did a clean install with the latest steam edition. my drivers are good and Im running 64bit with 8 gigs of ram. Hey guys im new here and i dont know if im on the right thread but welp ok So basically my ksp keeps on crashing for no reason at anytime. No i dont have any mods, I have reinstalled it three times, booted my laptop. Checked task manager, no memory and heat problems. And no it didnt produce any crash report or log files. Please help, ive been playing this for more than 2 years and have alot of nice things in my world. It kinda liquides me off knowing i cant complete my goals in the game right now.

Can anyone help me diagnose what's going on with these crashes? (I don't really know how to read these logs) I'm playing on 1.4.3 since I haven't wanted to go through and update all my mods since 1.4.4 and now 1.4.5 have come out. But recently, I'm seeing a LOT more crashes to desktop. I have been installing mostly functionality-related mods, not really parts mods. NOTE: I know that a majority of the mods I have installed say their versions are between 1.4.3 and 1.4.99, but I went through and mostly downloaded/updated only mods to 1.4.3. Some even say they're not specific to any specific version and work on 1.4.x, etc. So hopefully responses I get aren't "Make sure your mods are updated" because there's only so much updating one can do here... Background: It's not any specific activity that I'm doing in-game that causes crashes. The game will run just fine for a while, then at random points during gameplay it will CTD. The most recent mod I installed was FMRS, but it was happening before I installed that. I thought it was Kopernicus a few days ago, so I made sure I'm running the 1.4.3 version (not the latest 1.4.5 version) of that mod. Other than that, I'm running mostly QOL mods and specific functionality for my Career game. Not really sure if this is even a mod conflict, or maybe I'm running out of RAM? (It says max usage 49% thought, so I don't know...) Sometimes it crashes before it can load the main menu. Sometimes it crashes or freezes at the main menu. The farthest I've ever made it was to click through to the Making History select-a-mission screen, at which point the game froze. If I uninstall the expansion, the base game still works fine. Is anyone else seeing this behavior? Anyone come up with a workaround?

Hi all, just got my Asus GTX1080 and I was stoked to test out KSP with his new gear. Of course, I installed the latest drivers from Nvidia right away. But (sad trumpet). The game systematically crashes badly during load screen, about halfway through the progress bar. When I say "crashes badly", I mean it instantly cuts power to the motherboard and restarts after a few seconds. From the POST screen. Then I downloaded the latest game version from KSP's website (version ID in the launcher is 2152), and things remain the exact same. I changed the graphics settings to "Minimum", just to see if a rewrite of the config file would make things better, but it doesn't. Any idea what's going on? PS: I'm playing vanilla KSP. I do have Avast anti-virus on at all times, although in gaming "silent" mode.

edit: THE SOLUTION As suggested elsewhere on this board, I had attempted starting the game in OpenGL mode by adding -force-opengl to the target field in the shortcut I use for starting the game. I had also tried the same with -force-glcore, which is the command that the warning from Textures Unlimited suggests during startup. Neither had made the warning go away, the game kept crashing, and I found a surprising affluence of "d3d" related errors in the log. THE FIX: not using the shortcut. I used the command prompt to start the game, all manual like. Been playing for over an hour now, no problems, so I'm convinced this solved the problem. Just in case anyone shares this problem, the inability to start the game in OpenGL mode, I will add a short description as the right answer. To see whether your problem resembles mine, I will leave here the whole odyssey. Starting the game in OpenGL mode was pretty much the first thing I had tried, but not knowing how to build a command into a shortcut, I had done what I had thought a description elsewhere on this message board had described. I may have gotten that wrong, though the command that had been suggested there was not quite correct, it appears, either. Regardless. If anyone loveed up, it was almost certainly me. Clumsy is a state of mind. In a previous episode: Problem: in the last few days, the game has started crashing for no apparent reason. Over the past few days, I got system freezing up or BSOD a few times. I thought updating windows and graphics drivers had remedied that. But that game just keeps on crashing. Even when it's just running in the background, after the prolonged startup my large number of mods require. Crash, while I do nothing to it. Other than the VAB, I couldn't find anything the crashes appeared to have in common. As it happened without my input, I thought "Maybe it's the Autosave!". To test this out, I went into settings.cfg and changed the long and the short intervall, by hanging many, many zeroes at the end of either. I found the game translated the entry in the settings.cfg into 3E+23 after startup. I got to play around in the VAB for about five to ten minutes. Crash. I found in the log file that Janitor's Closet was throwing many NullReference errors. So I took it out. Game still crashed. System Specs: Ryzen 7 1700 Overclocked to 3.9GHz on a msi B350M Gaming Pro MoBo 16GB Patriot Viper Elite DDR4 @ 2133MHz GeForce GTX1060 6GB not overclocked EVGA 650GQ 650W PSU Boot Drive is 240GB San Disk SSD Plus Steam Library is on 256GB WD Black NVMe M.2 SSD So I am trying to play KSP and after first install it was working well enough didn't notice anything major but my FPS was kinda low. I read some forum posts and fiddled with the Nividia Control Panal settings followinf some suggestions. Afterward I noticed a slight increase in FPS but also getting instability. Stuff like game would freeze up and then come back to life randomly but would look all foggy out at launchpad, game would stutter randomly and I would get flashing and weird graphical glitches. Once or twice I got a crash to desktop. I reset everything back to default both on Nividia Control Panel and in KSP settings but problem persisted. Finally I uninstalled and the reinstalled the program. I thought everything was fixed. The game was playing fine for about 10-15 mins then out of nowhere system blue screened on me. After restart I ran stress tested my system with prime95 and no stability problems. I then ran CineBench and some GPU heavy Benchmarks (Unigine Superpostion 1080P High) just to make sure everything was running tip top. No issues system seems to be purring like a kitten. I have no mods installed. I am at a loss. I am running the x64 version. The only other thing I can think of is the new Nvidia Driver just installed today and I have had issues in past with other games after installing new GPU drivers. Weird. I really love this game and am bummed not being able to play. If anyone has any thoughts, ideas, or advice it would be much obliged. Thank you.

So my game has been "crashing" a lot lately, it happens when i either enter the VAB, engage the parachutes, touch down at a surface, adjust the camera position. From the freeze there's three possible outcomes: the game runs normally in the background, i can click and stage normally (I know it by sounds), but there's no output to the screen. the game just shutdown, but there's no crash log. the screen goes all black, and after 30 seconds the computer restarts itself. My Pc is low end, but i don't think it's a performance issue, because the game runs at 30-35fps at ultra low settings. PC SPECS: Intel Core2 Duo E8400 @3.00 ghz 2 GB Ram i don't know what is the graphics card, but it's integrated, and worse than intel HD graphics. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

I have 8gb RAM and a geforce 950 KSP 1.4.2 Previously I ran KSP on 4gb no problem. I got a new computer and installed ksp and this started happening. YES MY DRIVERS ARE UPTO DATE. Even with just vanilla it was randomly hitting a HARD 4GB limit and the game would freeze but I can still here the sounds it was making when it froze. The Game Idles on the main menu at 3.6GB usage too so I really don't know what to do. I have tried reducing texture quality in an effort to reduce texture memory eating up too much but it doesn't seem to have helped at all. I have found people talking about KSP as if this should only happen if launched 32bit but it won't even run in 32bit I always run it 64. I have seen online discussion about KSP using upto 16GB and others saying it's impossible for KSP to do more than 4GB ever even in 64bit mode. What the hell is going on? It started just running out of memory like no tomorrow once I added Raster Prop Monitor or any other mod. I get to 10 mods and it hits the ram limit during loading up the game. My last time I ran it on 4GB with about 50+ mods in 1.3.1
