@Nertea found a problem. i installed today additionally all your mods incl. CTT + node hide mod. Yeah i'm a big fan.

In my career games now all the contracts are gone. i can accept a new one, but back at main map or tracking station the new are gone too.

i kicked all the new mods out and installed them one by one. now after many many restarts i tracked it to Cryogenic Engines and Kerbal Atomic. When i install one of these two mods i get the losing-mission-issue. None of the other NF mods kill my contracts (as i tested).

Must be something within their specific folders or the shared cryotanks folder.

my mod list with the issue:

Here the log with a fresh career game

i did: start game -> go to mission center -> accept mission -> back to space center -> go to tracking station -> blank contract window, contract is gone.

I had the same problem.  Seems like it was the CryoTanks after looking through my KSP.log and then using grep on my GameData folder.  Log sez,

[ERR 01:34:37.535] [ScenarioTypes]: Loaded Scenario definitions already contains a scenario with name 'CommNetScenario'
[ERR 01:34:37.535] [ScenarioTypes]: Loaded Scenario definitions already contains a scenario with name 'PartUpgradeManager'

[ERR 01:34:37.535] [ScenarioTypes]: Loaded Scenario definitions already contains a scenario with name 'ScenarioUpgradeableFacilities'

. . .

Then, when the contracts I already have get blown away (going from KSC to the VAB after accepting them)

[EXC 01:34:45.039] ArgumentException: An element with the same key already exists in the dictionary.
	System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary`2[System.String,System.Int32].Add (System.String key, Int32 value)

	UnityEngine.SetupCoroutine.InvokeMoveNext (IEnumerator enumerator, IntPtr returnValueAddress)

Looking through my GameData folder for the strings in the definitions it was complaining about:

~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Kerbal Space Program/GameData$ grep -r ScenarioDestructibles
Binary file CryoTanks/Plugins/Assembly-CSharp.dll matches

Interestingly, the new download from spacedock.info doesn't seem to have this file.  I got the original from CKAN, and I wonder if their versions are messed up there.  CryoTanks was a separate mod from KA and the engines there.

Anyway, I haven't tried the new ones yet, just downloaded it and looked through the contents, and noted that when I removed the CKAN mods the problem went away.

Mostly FYI, probably, seems like you've got it addressed in the newest.  I'll have to give it a try at some point.

Cheers,

-BS

cryotank folder is 29,9mb (original 18.8mb) when you enable the surface attachment patch on ckan, in the original version here, there is just a patch cfg file, not the plugin folder full of .dll like in the separated surface attachment patch on ckan. so, just install cryoengines on ckan and copy manually the patch file into the mod folder from ckan-downloaded archive, until ckan-team fix that and follow nerteas structure.

Correction to my previous post: Monoprop in FTP radial tanks that I saw was on the crafts saved earlier. After CryoTanks installation, newly attached tanks lack Monoprop variants.

Tanks names in question: TPtankR01, TPtankR02, TPtankR03.

Bug Report

Small bug, which I narrowed down to something in the CryoTanks folder. If you start a new career and choose the difficulty options menu, the Advanced options are duplicated. Choosing an option in one of the duplicates also changes the other, so it might not be a high priority fix. The "Advanced (2)" tab has a duplicate of CommNet Options in it.

If you are experiencing problems with contracts:

The problem is with additional files in CryoEngines and/or KerbalAtomics. Download the absolute latest versions (0.4.1 and 0.3.1 respectively) and make sure to delete the old version of the mod!

If you do not want to update or something you can go into GameData/CryoTanks/Plugins and delete everything except SimpleBoiloff.dll

@ev0 - your bug comes from this too, I checked your log and you have these files too.

It's intended that the patch doesn't touch multi-fuel tanks like that, so your first interpretation of the problem is correct.

In their base FTP radial tanks are LFO tanks, so they are matched by CryoTanks patch conditions. FTP relies primarily on IFS for mesh/resource switching. And its patches have  '&!CryoTanks' conditions.  For now I've worked around this on FTP's side by:

  • removing IFS, so FTP would fall back to B9.
  • then removing '&!CryoTanks' from FTP radial tank patch's NEEDS and added ':AFTER[zzz_CryoTanks]', so that patch overrides

This shaman ritual got me working everything except mesh switching on radial tanks (which I do not need much).  Had to edit a couple of already lunched crafts in the save. But some permanent solution would be needed.

Ah, sorry about that. I could have sworn I had the 0.4.1 version, but I must have made a mistake. I re-downloaded and tried again, no bug this time.

No worries - this whole fiasco was my fault!

Important notice about any boiloff issues you might see

Please accompany any bug reports related to boiloff with the following:

  • A copy of output_log.txt from the KSP_Data or KSP_x64_Data folder (depending on whether you're using 32 or 64 bit)
  • A screenshot of the Cryo Debug window (Press CTRL+SHIFT+P) while the issue is occurring
  • An indication of what timewarp level causes the bug
  • KSP version and mod version.
  • A clear screenshot of the craft so I can see what parts are being involved
  • The .craft file if you're not using too many mods (strip what you can, it'll help)

This info has been added to the OP.

Installed v.0.4.1 to a clean KSP 1.2 (also, installed all NF mods) and when I'm switching fuel type to "Oxidizer" for, say, hydrogen-125-1 tank - NRE spams error log violently.

Is there any bugtracker where I could check if this is a known issue?

CryoEngines GitHub repository (source)
CryoTanks GitHub repository (source)

It would be preferable to report that bug in CryoTanks.

edit - https://github.com/ChrisAdderley/CryoTanks/issues/15 Created it for you, also fixed it, will be in next version.

ran across a line in the log about missing the definition for cryogenic tanks.

found this

// Adds tank definition for CryoEngines
TANK_DEFINITION:NEEDS[ModularFuelTanks,!RealFuels]:FOR[000_CryoTanks]
{

looks like its missing the @ in front of TANK_DEFINITION right?

this is the cryotanksModularFuelTanks.cfg in the patches folders of CryoTanks.

It doesn't need an @, because it's creating a new TANK_DEFINITION

No idea what's going on there. There was an unpublished old version of CryoEngines on spacedock which I deleted, this seems to have had some bad effects. I'll look into it. In the meantime, Curse and Dropbox links should still be working.

I can confirm this. Although the new versions of 4.1 and 3.1 are up on CKAN, there is a CryoTanks 3.0 version as well which KA and CE both require. And it's that 3.0 CryoTanks that is causing the bug to continue on CKAN installs.

I'm currently doing some comparative stuff with an unpatched, stock nerva (and other stock engines), the cryo-engines and the kerbal atomics engines, to figure out how they fit into the lineup...
I've come to a few conclusions, but would ask for corrections and additions from you guys... I'm not thaaat good with such things, so... that's why I ask XD

Comparing them side-by-side is a bit difficult.

Cryogenic Engines compared to stock engines seem to cost something like 60-70% more and take up about 50% more in tankspace, but also get a bit better TWR in that case.
But I wonder the application of that... It's larger, more expensive (even excluding energy-generation for the tanks), a bit lighter and stronger... But the same result (acceleration and dV) can be achieved with stock chemical engines for less cost and size.

Kerbal Atomic engines compared to an unmodded NERVA are 6 times larger in tankspace, cost double as much as the same stock-solution and weight about the same.
Again, I'm a bit lost for the application when the KA-engines need that much more volume (which you could ignore in space, although x6 is still ludicrous) and cost double as much as the same stock-solution.

To get those "numbers", I built a small benchmark-ship (2.5m pod + Jumbo as payload) and aimed for a TWR of 0.4 to 0.5 with dV of 1900-2000 m/s). Compared where different arrangements of (Sq) NERVAs, (Sq) Swivels, (CE) VL1-Volcanoes and (KA) LV-100 N100 Neptunes.

I think I am missing something... Maybe larger (2.5m, 3.5m?) Cryo Engines / Atomic Motors have a better performance? But on the other hand, so do some stock engines... I'm really confused. I like the look of Nertea's engines, but at the moment (well, see above), I don't see a way of profiting from them...
