Fairing Bug

I just don't know what to do. I tried all fairing settings, I tried a smaller fairing but it does not attach. The fairing base just don't want to decouple (between the engine and fairing base was a decouple, but it was just shoot out and the fairing base remained)

There are a set of invisible attachment points extending above the fairing base. I suspect that the problem is that the game thinks you wanted those upper assembles stuck to one of them. You can fix it by going back to the VAB, r-clicking on the forum base to turn those off, and re-assembling the parts.

I agree with vanamonde. When you built that fairing, you turned on "interstage nodes" for the fairing. You built your payload for the fairing, and then stuck the payload to an interstage node, not to the base. When you decouple a payload, the decoupler must be the attachment point to the node for it to work. So yeah, your only choice is to go back and rebuild it. Turn off the interstage nodes, grab the payload, and then attach it directly to the base. After that, if you need interstage nodes to build the rest of your rocket, turn them on after you've attached the payload.

Alternatively, you may have attached your rocket to the fairing base but did not use a decoupler. you have to put a decoupler between the fairing base and your rocket.

It just doesn't work... Can someone help me with a small tutorial or something?

Is it possible that you accidentally attached the engine to the fairing base itself rather than to the decoupler?

Could you share your .craft file somewhere and link to it here?

Are you running stock?

As the others said, you probably have it attached to another node within the fairing. You need to turn those off and attach the satellite to the base again.

(btw, if you are playing stock, why are you running an older version?)
