How many saves do you play?

The game gives you as much freedom as you want, but in my case, I like direction. Meaning each "Space Program" that I play, it has an end game goal, wether it be colonizing, grand tours, or historical, I always narrow it down a bit. So my question is, how many of you play multiple saves? I was thinking about having my current save being pretty open in terms of imagination and starting a second one to follow a historic path...

For me essentially 1,  A sandbox 'program', that is supplemented by a sandbox 'R&D' save that gets used for design and testing and 'mucking about'.

I use the 'Orange 4' kerbals in the R&D save, with the occasional other recruit.  Whilst in the main 'Program' save I deploy the 'Orange 4' to the Desert Airstrip out of the way (pretending to do R&D) so they can't sneak on any missions.

I have an old career save in a heavily modded 1.7.3 version of KSP that I rarely look at any more, and my current main save is in 1.8.1, plus a partly started “stock only” game in 1.8.1nthat had a lot more than just stock parts before I stopped playing it, so 3 overall but only 1 that I play on a day to day basis.I have a handful of sandboxes in different game versions where I do bug testing/replicating or check out new mods before adding them to my main save games but those don’t count as proper save games as I don’t play them as a save game, just as something I can load up to get into the editors or flight.

I’ve only ever had one career save. Never even started a Science or Sandbox game... though that does make sense for testing and challenges.

I did restart the career after a day or two, once I’d realised what difficulty settings I like most. Since then, everything I’ve ever done in KSP has been in that save.

1 actual career, several sandboxes depending on the design goals.

I see no reason to play a Science game, and the actual gameplay version I'd like to play is not available.

At any time, usually 2 - my current career (typically hard mode, no reverts/quickloads) and a sandbox to test stuff without permanently killing my kerbals.

There may be one or more other game installs, either to test out new mods or check out a new version while waiting for all my mods to update.  Those don't get a lot of use though.
