Circumnavigate Kerbin...BY FOOT.

... poor kerbals ...circumnavigate ... by foot

Ok, Lets assume you have already done this, as required for a proper challenge.

We would want to see proof.

So, lets say you have recorded the video, and posted it to youtube, right before you posted this challenge.

.

so. Walking along land (allowing swims of < 50 km), the route should take someting like 5849862 seconds... 67.7 days.

Youtube takes about 1 hour to process 6 minutes of highrez video.

.

.

We should be expecting the youtube to be available in high rez by....... 2047?

You know, Kerbals are technically all terrain other than mountains. You could relatively easily get away with this in a matter of a few weeks with of straight play crossing the equator if you used a brick to hold down shift, and the forwards arrow while on time warp 4. He'd get up if he fell...

Lets do the math!

Wooks calculations showed that crossing by his rover (average of probably 15-20 m/s) would take 50+ hours of game play. Now a kerbal moves quite bit slower than that. 2.3 m/s from my recent test and I'm guessing* around 1.5 in water.

Kerbin equatorial CIRCUMFERENCE: 3,769,911 m

Kerbal sprint/swim guestimate: 1.9 m/s --> 114 m/m --> 6.84 km/h

3769.911 / 6.84 = 551.16 hours

551.16 hours / 4 (timewarp) = 137.79 hours of straight time warp 4 non-crash gameplay to circumnavigate Kerbin by foot?!?

Only 6 ish days of straight gameplay away!

*The hell kraken attacked for the first time in about a month when I jumped out of the capsule for this one.

For those who really want to try this 'life wasting challenge' you MUST use this... http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/49216-0-24-2-Persistent-Trails-record-share-and-replay-track-data!-%28Aug-1-V1-1%29

So, you can proof yourself of doing it. And everyone else can tell that you are really spend your time doing it. (The Trails is replay-able.)

Unless he trips and disintegrates. Which is very prone to happening when running on Kerbin at high physics warp.

The Time Control mod, http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/69363 , would probably make a foot circumnavigation less intolerably slow, I'm betting you can get good speeds with a Kerbal since it's just one part. However I still don't see the challenge as that interesting. There's no design aspect like you have with a vehicular circumnavigation.

By foot, do you mean make him travel the whole circumference of kerbin in feet rather than kilometres? :P Before anybody attempts this challenge (if anybody would even be bothered wasting the time) you need to show your attempt first. You obviously also haven't looked at the challenge posting guidelines or you have completely ignored them. They are here. This challenge is already breaking two of the rules of submitting a challenge. Although this is possible, it will take a LONG time hence making it impossible for many people because they don't have the time to sit in front of their computer and this is not fun. This challenge is very impractical and a mod should lock this challenge.

Guys! this is a simple case of thinking outside tthe box heres my entry no mods 100% legit. seeing as how all planets in the game are spheircal bodies and the circumference of a sphereical body is purely dependant on ones lattitude along it so logically by extension

I would like to point out no where in the rules is it sepecified that this must be done around the equitorial circumfrerance. Its bending the rules a little but it works in my book

I'll take a route around the VAB.
