Topography of the lunar equator?
Frank_G replied to numerobis's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
There is a nice mod called SCANsat, that allows you to map the surface in all detail. It also it gives you an interactive map inside the game with detailed position- and height-data. You can also export them to file to plan your missions in advance. Its not heavy considering graphic- and cpu-power. -

The dolphin Mk. II jetski to have fun on the oceans on Laythe Delta D1 - a streamlined 4 Kerbal lander for Duna The compact Arrowhead X-3d-S spaceplane that can reach a circular 120 km orbit on Kerbin an Laythe. The Konstellation Type II Lander System with modular payload -
I enjoy both. I spend more time constructing than actually flying, but when a design is ready for the it usually has lots of hours of testflight in it. And the mission itself, where everything has to work as planed is reaally fun and thrilling. And when a design, especially a spaceplane, is performing exceptionally well, i like to take it for a ride just for fun sometimes.

Well it will change a lot for those players, who like to build planetary bases, as you can refuel shuttles that do orbit-surface-orbit-runs as long, as resources keep coming. No need for expensive refuel missions. Also, grand tour missions will be able to refuel during the mission, if you equip the ship with a resource collecting lander/refinery. I welcome this decision to put in resources a lot.

You can rotate with SAS on... even then when it is set to hold a certain course. It will just return to the set course, when you release your controls. As far as i get it here, there is no control at all. And i have experienced this after using hyper-edit sometimes. It is not reproducable though, it just happens from time to time.

...with the Mün being the only celestial body, where this actually works

...when you bring your atmospheric spaceplane all the way to Duna and wonder, why the jets wont fire...
-
Memory issue... just restart KSP. If it happens constantly, reduce the texture resolution.
-
It sometimes happen with hyper-edit. You need to reload the save or sometimes KSP itself, then the issue is gone. I encountered such a problem several times, while testing large orbital assemblies with hyper-edit.

My girlfriend just surprised me with a KSP themed birthday
Frank_G replied to JordanL's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Really sweet What a nice present. And happy birthday, Sir! -
2km/s could work. You will need about 250 m/s to get a circular orbit around the Mün and about 700 to get down and another 700 to get back up. So, you have to do the transfer with around 300 - 400 m/s from Minmus to Mün... Can be done. But your guys need to hitch a ride home, so better send either a refueler or a return craft into münar orbit first.

I would like some outer gas giants a lot, but actually Squad should concentrate on finishing the game in its current state. With the content that is in the game right now, new players could easily have fun for years, just as most of the experienced players already had. So from the point of a close 1.0 release candidate, it does simply make no sense to add new planets right now. There are lots of things still in the pipeline that were talked about by Squad, being worked on that never made it into the game, like surface effects (gas geysers, clouds, dust effects and stuff) on existing worlds. That would make pretty more sense in my opinion. A new set of gas giant systems with moons, rings and probably an asteroid belt for the system would also be a nice micropayed Outer Planets DLC after release to get some cash for further KSP development into Squads chest.

The most defining moments in KSP early access
Frank_G replied to One-Way Films's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Well... almost like NecroBones... - First probe dropped on the Mün - First kerbaled mission to the Mün - Touchdown on Duna... this was a moment of total awe... - Grand Tour to Jool - First successful Eve ascend -
I know a handful of women who play games frequently... games like Skyrim, Eve Online, World of Warcraft, Shooters, Adventures, Simulators, Jump n´Runs... all the stuff. There is no difference, only different styles of play, as every individual has. A co-worker of mine is gay and also a gamer... same there. Playing a game is nothing more than a personal interest of an individual and style of play is defined by character, not by gender. Its just sad, that female gamers feel like hiding, just because of too many idiots around... i would hide my gender too, if other people would constantly step on my nerves, just because of being male.

On his way back to Kerbin from a solo surface mission to Gilly, where he just earned his fifth star.

Do you employ stupid kerbals?
Frank_G replied to THX1138's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Its easy... the more courages a kerbal is, the longer it will stay cool and the more stupid a kerbal is, the faster it recovers from critical moments. All that is just for controlling the expressions in the IVA view, as far as i know (it was explained some time ago here on the forums). Also, some of them have a hidden badass attribute, which makes them cool as rock, just like Jeb. Hopefully we will see a mechanic someday, that will influence the kerbals performance as well... imagine a pilot not being able to hold course, due to panic from shaky rockets... [edit] and to stay on the main topic... yes i do employ stupid kerbals... i employ kerbals by coolness of names, not by their stats. -
The new gizmos are excellent. I love to make aesthetical pleasing craft and use a bit of part clipping almost all the time since the gizmos are out. It really helped to give crafts unique visuals and an individual touch. The game has improved a lot since those features were added. I personally dont like clipping tanks into each other or hiding engines inside tanks. However clipping stuff into hollow structures like adapters or the 2.5 m ASAS ring is awesome in my opinion. But thats only how i play the game. One should always play the way one likes.
-
The large adapter makes an ideal hull for lots of stuff and you can easily move stuff inside now, using the new gizmos. I do that myself often and i like the new gizmo thingies a lot. Besides that, the lander looks awesome.
