Orbital Maneuvering System "Apple" (very cute)
Frank_G replied to Enceos's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
This vehicle is really kerbal in all aspects. Useful, spacey and cute. Well done! -
This forum is indeed one of the nicest places to be on the web. And its very good to see, how many different people, regardless of nation and religion are working together peacefully, when it comes to science, especially everything related to space. Feels good te be here

I used the mini girders for that technique, but yours look so much better. Thanks for sharing! [edit] oh, and you could use the ones with decoupler to keep your ships clean of disconnected strut end points... This really has potential!

NOPECOPTER: maple seed inspired assymetric helicopter
Frank_G replied to Parallax's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
That is by far the most weirdes working vehicle i have seen so far in KSP. A fine piece of engineering you have there. Kudos to you, Sir! I sometimes even try that with screenshots... Who cares, if a great game lets one do strange things -
KSP - game or simulator?

I had exactly those words in mind, when i read the thread title. -
Do you feel KSP is ready for 1.0?
Frank_G replied to hoojiwana's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
With each Dev Note the list of features gets more and more complete. Even, if they would stop announcing stuff, I dont worry a bit to get a decent 1.0 KSP. And i bet there will be stuff, they wont tell us about. Whats a release without surprises? Go Squad !!! -
What makes spaceplanes flip backwards?
Frank_G replied to Captain Sierra's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Well usually this occurs, because it lacks some weight at the front, which was there when the fuel tanks were full. Try to fill the most forward tank with the remaining fuel and oxidizer before re-entry. That should solve your problem, but is just a workaround. Better to keep an eye on how fuel is used from the tanks during construction and make sure the center of mass does not shift too far away from its origin. Try emptying the fuel tanks in the SPH with the CoM and CoL Marker on. That will give you the idea of what to do, to create a solid and stable spaceplane. The task gets harder with spaceplanes that transport payload of different weight and size... its always a walk on a thin line. -
I totally second this. Building up a good foundation of skill and knowledge is essential to get your ships where and how you want it. It also gives you the understanding of how to optimize craft and give you a feel for things.

SPACE STATIONS! Post your pictures here
Frank_G replied to tsunam1's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I am really proud of finally having completed this insane contract... build a spacestation in orbit around Ike... and build the facility into a newly discovered class D asteroid... Sadly, one of the Claws was torn and twisted and is now in a quite unhealthy position, but anyway... here it is: -
After watching cupcakes Laythe video a week ago or so, i really had to build a jetboat on my own... and here it is. Really fun to drive it around and it has pretty much delta V as well.

Cowboy Bebop "Swordfish II" replica
Frank_G replied to HafCoJoe's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Ok, thanks. Now you did it... now i have to undust the DVD collection and watch all the stuff again. Excellent replica by the way I tried it myself, but i did not manage to build a real flying one. Still trying from time to time. -
I play KSP for it being one of the most awesome space games available... And for all the creativity it allows me to be put into actual forms... And for the serenity and beauty it offers... And for allowing me to make my childhood dreams come true... And for... oh come on, you know all of the story...

Do you feel KSP is ready for 1.0?
Frank_G replied to hoojiwana's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
So many words... and a tiny thank you for doing all the work to form my thoughts into this post. I second this. -
My new survey and science aircraft, the Albatros I, taking off from Kerbins oceans. The craftfile is available from my spacecraft exchange thread.

That contract... build a spacestation with laboratory and space for 15 kerbals in orbit around Ike... i did and i missed the point that said... Build the facility into a newly discovered Class D Asteroid... Well... i finally did, but the 700k of funds threw out a bargain of 800 bucks in total... ok... it was worth the adventure... curse you contracts... curse you!

I built and tested a science survey plane with water landing capabilities. The craft file is available on my Spacecraft Exchange Thread.

Do you feel KSP is ready for 1.0?
Frank_G replied to hoojiwana's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
A game is complete, when the developer says it is. And KSP has pretty many nice things to do, especially for people playing KSP for the first time. The problem is all that early access stuff. As an early access gamer, you follow a game from an incomplete state and the more you see it advance, the more wishes you have,, the more mods you test and the more you feel, the game isnt complete when feature xyz isnt added. If KSP would be a game that would have entered the market in the state it will be at 1.0, no one would have complained that much. The only thing i really hope is, that Squad will carefully polish everything to a shiny and satisfying state before releasing. My only two wishes left open for final release are clouds and some more detailed data output during flight and construction. -
Definetely! It would be nice if KSP had some planet specific themes and one for interplanetary travel or so. I have just bought the album, presented on the website for 5$. With 35 minutes playtime, the album is not long, but its a wonderful piece of music.

Never ever. I try to play KSP as it is meant to be played.

Sharing a space station like a craft file?
Frank_G replied to dryer_lint's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
When sharing large projects, it is nice to have one assembled craftfile to see what to do and then all the parts needed as subassemblies or as packages including launchers. -
And it runs and runs... hard to kill that bug... Maybe its V for... volumetric clouds or V for very secret?
