  1. THE kraken is not an animal... its a spacefaring deity of doom and cannot be tortured in any way... it only lets us think we could keep it under control.
  2. I thought i could counter that with adding probe bodies... sorry for being misguiding.
  3. Every game needs a challenge. Ive heard, they have a much larger solar system in their game with lots more math to do to launch without crashing.
  4. They make nice cocktails of rocket fuel and carbonated oxidizer and giving them fancy names like shiny reactor core... Or maybe they sing songs like "i wanna be your launch instructor", "spacelift to heaven" or "dont fear the kraken"...
  5. You can stage the booster chutes when you separate them. Works nice. And when you add a probe core to your boosters, you can actually recover them later, as they will be calculated as craft and not being deleted as debris that left the physics range.
  6. Ive modded myself a 3.75 m orange tank.... Just because i like the looks.
  7. Full Kerbol Mün eclipse... Flyby of satellite in munar orbit doing some scientific scans... This game is so damn beautiful...
  8. I designed this SSTO to be small and compact. I need a good performing light weight SSTO for my upcoming interplanetary mission. This design weighs 9.1 tons and reached 95km Kerbin orbit with 800 m/s of delta V left. However, it was beaten by this little fellow in all aspects... it weighs 8.1 tons and reached a 100 km Kerbin orbit with 1.5 km/s of delta V left... flight abilities are also better as you have to do nothing but to point its nose upwards to 30°, watch it climb to 32 km and then level for circularization. If flown more carefully i guess the delta V left in orbit can be optimized by a fair amount.
  9. Just tested the Micro SSTO for my upcoming interstellar mission. Flies nice so far and reached stable 85km Kerbin orbit with 800 m/s deltaV left. The design weighs only 8.95 tons and is the smallest working SSTO with actual functionality that i have built so far. This design will now receive 2 KAS container clamps so it can transport stuff to planet surfaces and back. I really love the inline clamp-o-tron and how it integrates in the design, but i think it will be sacrificed for weight reasons and being replaced with a standard docking port... sad the part was made so heavy in the last release... The design used some clipped parts, but only as the editor allows it. No cheats, air-hogging or wing stacking used.
  10. After installing the new procedural fairings mod version, my Orbital Service Vehicle did not work anymore, so i constructed a new one. The new version comes with more deltaV, the option to carry 4 KAS containers and it has a Telemachus telemetry link for detailed flight information and control.
  11. Today i took the lander and the rover to the Mün to test it under low gravity conditions. Everything is performing well, including re-ataching the rover to the lander. Jeb riding around Jeb posing for a shot while awaiting the launch window to rendezvous with the transfer stage.
  12. I had some spare time today, and i used it to create this little exploration rover. Due to its insectoid appearance, i named it Locust. It is very lightweight and is equipped with a wide and redundant installation of scientific equipment. It can be carried by a lander and will be re docked and carried back with the launcher at the end of the mission. It will be part of an interplanetary mission and will set wheels on more than just one world. The tests proved, that the Locust rover is a very stable vehicle, that shows no intention to flip over, even at maximum speed.
  13. Today Jeb tested the Scarab class lander and the lightweight and compact Locust rover. Both vehicles will be used in the upcoming interplanetary mission. The rover can be re-docked to the lander and carried back to the orbiting craft for multiple use on different worlds. Both lander and rover are equipped with a wide variety of scientific equipment, allowing the lander to analyze the surrounding of the LZ, while the pilot can take a ride in the rover to another biome for more science thingie stuff.
  14. I built a helicopter with rocket engines attached using the firespitter mod. You can get it easily into orbit as the helicopter only uses electricity and gets you very high in that dense soup. I havent attempted a stock launch yet. Another open challenge that needs to be attended to.
  15. Yes, I think it is as inadequate as measuring astronomical distances in kilometers or miles.... Around 350 hours here... Just a moment, did i say hours...?
  16. I continued designing my interplanetary exploration vessel. I think it will be ready for launch this weekend. Cant wait to go on my first grand tour. Next time with pictures.
  17. When will you people recognize, that these are all attempts of the kraken to alter our understanding of reality, so it can hide and strike from deep beyond without being noticed as what it is...
  18. Hans Rüdi Giger, designer of the original Alien featured in Ridley Scotts Masterpiece back 1979 died yesterday at the age of 74 in Zürich, Switzerland. I will surely miss his ingenious and somewhat disturbing art that influenced so many modern movies and art projects. He also did a german audiobook horror series called H. R. Gigers Vampiric. May he rest in peace.
  19. Today i began construction of an interplanetary science vessel. It will fly the first interplanetary mission with more than one destination in my career game. When finished, it will have probes, satellites and an exploration rover. It will also receive additional fuel tanks and engines for a total of 12.000 deltaV. I did 3 launches today, launching the main engine section, habitat and the command section with attached lander. 3 more launches will be necessary to complete the ship and a final crew launch when everything is assembled. Mods: Kerbal Attachement System, ScanSAT and a 3.75 m ASAS i modded myself.
  20. I experimented a little with "legitimate" part clipping.
  21. ...shows nothing on Mac KSP - fixed? Works like a charm in all aspects. I am using the RasterProp Version on my 2013 iMac 27". Good performance and does what its being told. Thank you! Nice little flavor addon.
  22. Kerbal Attachment System, mentioned by 5thHorseman, can do the job.
  23. No, the claw only attaches to spaceship parts and asteroids.
  24. Instead of IsaMap Sat you can use ScanSat. Works like a charm! Find it here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/55832-PLUGIN-PARTS-0-23-SCANsat-terrain-mapping?highlight=scansat
