Interplanetary travel with larger ships (manned missions, bases) are best done with the LV-N's (or so I think).

So I have never seriously started playing career mode until now, and with money, unmanned probes seem like a good idea. I am wondering if I go to Duna, take science stuff and transmit it back to kerbin, and then later go to duna with a manned mission and bring science back to kerbin, will the values for the manned mission will be lower?

I put a totally out of place experimental engine on the first mun landing, which also happened to be a rescue mission (that kerbal was the first on the mun), which also happened to be testing jet engines at the launch pad. I will have no such thing as resources wasted.
