If you liked it, here is a simplified version that shot the volunteer over 5km http://www.twitch.tv/othuyeg/c/3875148 It could be an idea to place a cannon on minmus on top of a rover and use it to launch probe cores across the solar system. Could be a nice way to give your ion powered probes that extra push as they are launched into interplanetary space. (nope, propably wouldn't work, but still... an idea.)

Okay, let's try something a bit different this time. This challange will have very little rules. Challenge: Beat everyone else with your rover. (don't take it too literally, we don't want violence.) - use STOCK parts - get a rover on minmus - Highest speed done with the rover on minmus wins (starting from a stationary position, not taking off the ground at any point during the run) - It does not matter how you get there, just the end speed of the rover matters. Must however be sent there without cheats etc. (During transfer to minmus, Mechjeb can be used, even the autopilot.) - must have some sort of wheels (a sledge/sleigh/sled will not do) and a kerbal attached to it during the speed run - No exploits - no cheats or godlike mods Highest speed after 24 hours from now wins. You can make multiple entries, for all I care. (tell me if this format is against the nature of the game. I can make up a new challange or just let someone else come up with one.) edit: is 24 hours too much? I suppose it could be something like 12 hours? or even less. edit 2: proof of viablity; yes, you can send a mobile rover to Minmus. edit 3: since it is your thread kahlzun, you can decide if this fits the thread. If not, you can come up with a new challenge. I am out of ideas right now.

As a space plane fan I am hoping for new stuff for my planes. I have no idea what I can realisticly expect, but I guess I am just an optimist at heart.

GUESS WHAT! I went to try it again, screwed up my takeoff and tried to load a quicksave. It put me back into time just before I made my last attempt to bring my periapsis up on my earlier attempt. I tried it again, being more precise. Now... WOOHOO! SUCCESS!

Okay guys, I am just way too annoyed by this... please, let me have this one. For my fragile sanity. Otherwise I have to go at it again and spend another 2 hours attempting it. 271 meters inside the bloody atmosphere!

I ENDED UP WITH A PERIAPSIS OF 68807m Now HOW ANNOYING IS THAT?

Ended up orbiting Kerbin with 0.20 units of EVA fuel. I am now trying to aerobrake myself and maybe I am able to raise my periapsis once my Apoapsis is below 250k... Propably not. I've been aerobraking for a good 120 minutes now.

Hmm... If you are able to abuse the mechanics and launch a kerbal with that... maybe.

Ah, yeah. I once again forgot to read any of the instructions.

Remember, the thrust must not be inflicted upon the volunteer once he has lost contact with the stationary accelerator.

It appears the phallic missile is all about being able to limit your thrust to a point where it does not wobble. Also, you need to sometimes turn off SAS to let it stop the wobble naturally and when turning, you can just turn the SAS off and let it turn itself and then turn SAS back on. I am not going to attempt the infiglider, I've never felt comfortable with them. EDIT: also, i am not using this ship to enter the competition because indeed the infiglider should be next in turn and therefore this... thing... doesn't count as an entry.

In this challenge we compete over the title of the Best Kerbal Accelerator. Some may call it Kerbal Cannon, but that is just cruel. We are scientists, not circus entertainers.) Rules are very simple. You must cover the most ground possible with a flying kerbal. However, flight must be achieved by utilizing a kerbal accelerator. Challenge rules in a nutshell. - Accelerator must be stationary at ALL TIMES. - You may choose to keep your kerbal attached to a command seat, or inside a command pod, however: - NO means of propulsion may be used once the kerbal leaves contact with the stationary accelerator - Aerodynamic assistance components may NOT be utilized, the race of kerbals is very proud of its aerodynamic shape, so it is preferred. No wings, no gliding. - Parachutes are allowed! - If the flight is stable and predictable, it earns imaginary points for cool factor. - NO CHEATING - HOWEVER infinite fuel can be used if the fueltank is a part of the stationary structure and could be connected to an outside tank with a fuel line. - Flight success is determined by the ground distance covered by the kerbal cannonb... volunteer. - You may choose to fling, toss, launch or explosively assist his takeoff - This is scientifically important, casualties are accepted. The volunteering kerbal is allowed to expire upon sub-optimal kerbal-ground interaction event. However, +250m are gained in the total score if the kerbal survives. - Go nuts.
