I have yet to attach this to any of my ships. However... I see military applications for this. Is this not just a missile?

I simply have a bunch of escape pods on my moon station. When my lander comes back to the station, it docks, the pilot transfers all the data to an escape pod in which there is a kerbal waiting. The escape pod will then go home. All you need is a tiny fuel tank and a few parachutes to make it back home. My station has alot of fuel and a processing lab, so i can reset my experiments.

I want to see your Asteroid Tugs!
Othuyeg replied to spikeyhat09's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Thank you. Here are the rest of my screenshots, if you are interested. -
I often have to use capsules for the very sad reason of being forced to reduce the part count.

The part with the orange tanks is the tug. It has docking ports and can be extended by additional orange tanks. -
SPACE STATIONS! Post your pictures here
Othuyeg replied to tsunam1's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
What do you think of my new station? A science module is going up as I write this. The orange tanks are an asteroid tug. The station itself has engines and is capable of changing orbits or going to the moons (maybe even other planets) The small capsules are escape pods and pods for science transports to the planet surface (tested, works like a charm) -
Oh well... I still got far. I could go a lot further if I tweaked it a little bit. Can you grab hold of the Mun with a claw?

I did something silly for a challenge thread: http://www.twitch.tv/othuyeg/c/4059287

Okay. Here are my results. Here are some pictures (could not get a distance, the damn distance marker went off the draw distance limit I guess.) But I believe this one to be the longest yet. Pictures: Video showing you how the magic is done: http://www.twitch.tv/othuyeg/c/4059287 PS: No, I am not expecting this to be accepted as a legitimate entry. edit: maybe I win the style category.

Team Speak would allow alot better accomodations, definetly.

Could be a baby kraken. If you have parts clipping into eachother, they may be generating a phantom force and slowing you down. However... if that were the case, you could not timewarp, because the station would be under acceleration. (correct me if I am wrong) Edit: here is an illustration of the possible problem:

Well... I have high hopes for the community. I actually have an idea on how it could possibly be done, however it would be a super duper tidious way.

Buy premium to gain early access to the upcoming 74 DLCs. Basically, no new content will be available ever again unless you buy premium. Only 75 dollars. A month.

This is what I play on my background. Fits space exploration just amazingly well. Also keeps my stream viewers happy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UT4i5B4ZOsE

MarvinKitFox, I had hard time judging if the safe landing was achieved as stated in the rules, since your craft itself definetly did take some heavy damage, but only after being decoupled from the command module. Since I specified that decoupling is perfectly fine, I am going to give you the points for the safe landing. (However, my initial idea was for the "safe landing" to be one where the majority of the craft lands safely.)

When you get the flight report (F3), it will give you the Ground Distance Covered Here is a picture from another challenge. This is the results screen you need to take a screen shot (in addition to the spaceship before launch) You need to be able to see the ground distance covered and highest altitude. This is important science. Sacrifices must sometimes be done. As long as he was aboard the entire flights, it is okay.

Optimally Efficient Science Mission Challenge
Othuyeg replied to Jasonden's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Oh I didn't read that part. My bad. -
The name of the game this time is to get as far from KSC using only solid rocket boosters. Points are awarded based on the ground distance travelled. There are a few rules: You may not use any other means of propulsion. No jet engines, no liquid fuel engines, no ions and no rover wheels. You may not exploit any glitches. You may not go any higher than 15 000 meters. You may use RCS, if you really want to. All stock aerodynamics are allowed apart from infiglide as it is a glitch. Kraken may not be utilized. Debug cheats are not allowed. The only mods allowed are those that give you information, such as mechjeb. Nothing may change your flight capabilities. Decoupling and staging is perfecly allowed. Tweakables are also perfectly allowed. You need to submit a picture of your craft before launch and the flight report on touchdown. Extra points equivalent to 2000 meters in travel distance are added if the craft lands safely without taking structural damage. Additional 1000 meters are added if landing safely on the runway at either KSC or the island runway. 1000 meters extra are added if the flight is manned. Extra kerbals (more than one) award 500 meters, however having more than 5 kerbals will not gain any more points. (1 meter flight with over 9000 kerbals will not get you anywhere, maximum points from kerbals is therefore limited at 3000 meters if 5 kerbals are on board during the entire flight) External command seats are allowed. Only kerbals that are on board during the entire flight are counted. Special award: Travelling a distance more than the circumference of Kerbin will get you the circumnavigator award and the first one to achieve it without glitch abuse will be crowned the king of the challenge, never to be questioned and always to be respected. Leaderboards: Justin Kerbice 74 155m MarvinKitFox 43 102m

Optimally Efficient Science Mission Challenge
Othuyeg replied to Jasonden's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I am not really going to be taking part in this challenge, so do not take what I am about to say very seriously. I lauched a mission onto the launchpad, cost me 5 bucks to get someone to walk there on their lunch hour and they brought me back some interesting dirt. -
What was your biggest payload you have launched into orbit?
Othuyeg replied to TheScareCake!'s topic in KSP1 Discussion
Not really anything special, just normal space station parts. If I remember correctly, it does have 48 000 units of liquid fuel. Or something like that. I won't be running out of fuel when refueling my probes. -
The health and safety department must have been very fond of this "aerobraking a massive rock" -idea. "Umm... so you want to redirect an asteroid... towards us?"

So, as we all know, space is not empty and this poses a major problem to space flight. If a space ship is moving at high speeds hitting even the smallest of particles can cause massive damage. Most often this is not even noticed in sci fi, or it is explained that the ships have force fields. I came up with an idea for a shield that I believe might be a viable option for shielding a space ship from the threat. Since I know NASA is going to be all over this thing, I am going to name it the Othuyeg shield and they won't be able to pronounce it in their press release. My idea is to pump a large blob of ferrofluid on top of the space ship (for example the nose) and then to keep it there with a magnetic field. The liquid will absorbe the energy of an impact and then reform under the magnetic field. Discuss, admire and behold my magnificence.

How about a small planetoid just a bit closer to sun than what kerbin is and the planet itself is completely covered in water. It could be just the size of minmus and the sea would be very deep so the planet would basically be just a ball of water floating in space with an atmosphere and thick clouds to keep it from freezing.
