Well that isn't so bad to be honest. Do not worry. When you see this coming at you, then you need to worry.

What was your closest call in terms of delta-V?
Othuyeg replied to pauldbk99's topic in KSP1 Discussion
An EVA from Minmus surface to LKO. I was not even well aware of efficient transfers, but managed it. -
What Planets can this ship reach and orbit?

MJ has a "prevent oveheats" option which works aswell. -

Your radial tanks are rather inefficient. You do not have any decoupling there. You will be carrying them with you even when they are empty. Also the massive tank is simply too huge. Also, I can imgaine that your manovers are hard to execute with such a massive ship without any RCS. -
This is exactly the kind of game bending situation I want to be submitted to the challenge
-
That is part of the challenge. It is about being able to record the collision in some fashion. It is all about who can do it the fastest.

A massive positive side to the lab that often isn't mentioned is that it can hold an endless number of experiments. You can move all of your science to the lab and land it on Kerbin. 100% return and only one mission. Dock one to a mun or minmus station and send a lander down to the surface, move the science to the lab, clean experiments... return the lab once you have 100+ experiments in there and boom you have a massive amount of science.
-
I often end up using my transfer stage for deorbiting and tuning the landing spot. Then I only need a tiny amount of dV in my actual lander for landing.
-
So... Is this something that people want to compete in or is it just silly?

I am going to simplify this challenge idea I have had since I made my first Kessler Bomb (http://imgur.com/a/3fVHP) The challenge is to create a collision between two crafts (a single probe core counts as a craft) in space and document it as well as possible. ALL mods are allowed. Even those granting godlike powers. You can also use the cheat menu. A craft sitting on a body without an atmosphere is counted as being in space. You need to figure out a way to prove the collision and show the collision speed of the colliding crafts. Video if possible, however if you can get good screenshots they will do aswell. Addition: For reasons of cinematic value an asteroid is not considered a craft. It just won't look cool if there is a tiny cloud of dust left of what was a probe core hitting an asteroid. You need to be more creative. I want there to be something to look at. Highest collision speed wins. I hope this provides you a fun competition.

I would love to think that Kerbin is just a massive mystery even to the kerbals themselves. They just do whatever they feel like and they have a massive urge to explore. They don't really have any official hierarchy or officials.

Kerbal Warfare Challange

When you consider the scale of the universe it is not a question of if there is intelligent life out there but rather can we expect to contact such a civilization within the time that humans exist. If we are able to achieve interstellar travel and colonize other worlds, our life expectancy as a race will greatly improve and then it might just be possible to meet an alien intelligence.

Umm... I am definetly going to pass on this one. This challenge I believe only challenges the endurance and ability to repeat the same dull act. Nope, not something that I would find in any way enjoyable.
-
I managed to once EVA two kerbonauts, got one in, then merrily did my deorbit burn, noticed that one seat was empty. What made this really unfortunate was that the poor kerbal was already suborbital so I could not save him. Ouch.

The close calls we all have from time to time.
Othuyeg replied to Cat_Fish12321's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Well here is a video of what I would call a close call. http://www.twitch.tv/othuyeg/c/3932138 Also, in this album the first pictures show me landing on Minmus and nearly hitting a mountain: -
Show off your Kethane Mining Designs!!
Othuyeg replied to Amphiprion's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I did weird stuff. I started off by adding a new kethane lifter to my minmus base and then... things deteriorated. I concluded that the station has poor orbital capabilities as a whole. -

Woah woah woah, now someone is doing something horribly correctly there. I like your ambition. Also, I am afraid docking is going to be rather challenging because of the frame rate issues.

Kethane and Fuellines
Othuyeg replied to Tokay Gris's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Oh wait, don't you have normal fuel lines between the nuclear engines and the main tank on your lander. You can take one of those off on EVA and attach it between a radial tank and your converter (going FROM the radial tank TO the converter) and then you can refuel it all. -
Kethane and Fuellines
Othuyeg replied to Tokay Gris's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
You can put a KAS line between the kethane rover and the lander and then it will be able to refuel the lander with the converter. You may have to put the line between the middle stack and the lander. -
You come out of warp drive and find yourself in the KSP solar system
Othuyeg replied to nobbers12345's topic in Forum Games!
I would add moar boosters. This is not the solar system I were looking for.
