1.
no more CKAN?? why? what happened?
For whatever reason CKAN does not always install the latest of everything and as a result I get a bunch of support issues. If there was a setting that would force it to install everything regardless of what CKAN thinks it should install, that would go a long way. But for now the bestimate way to make sure you get all of the latest is to install manually from GitHub or KerbalStuff. - - - Updated - - -
I've give it a try, didn't worked. Thanks anyway men, all the rest of the mod runs 100% fine, so, i'm gonna have to deal with it. Too bad, tho.
Hang tight I will have another update this weekend.
 2.
Hey great mod there! But i have a problem: Whenever the game try to load the Jetwing, it stuck. The game by itself is not freezing, but it wont load any further. I've tried to re-download and retry many times, didn't worked. As soon as i put out the file Jetwing.cfg, the game load and play normally. But i really want that jetwing. Any help would be very great. I first thinked that it could be an error with Active Texture Management, but it wasn't the case. I have windows 7 64 bit, KSP is 1.0.4 and i played it with 32 bit. Thanks!
Make sure to download from GitHub, not CKAN. I no longer support CKAN. Also, if you have a Module Manager cache, delete that as well. Look for ModuleManager.ConfigCache, ModuleManager.Physics, ModuleManager.ConfigSHA, and ModuleManager.TechTree. See if that helps. If not, hang tight, this weekend I'll have a small update. Since the forums will be down, watch for AVC/KerbalStuff notifications.
 3. It's a hotplate. It's supposed to keep warm. ;) Sounds like another bug, don't know why it points in the wrong direction
 4. Have you tried the latest on the release thread? I need to update to oatest DoE as well
 5.
Oh, okay, but why dont you talk to Kospy to see if KIS can support something like that?
The problem is not with KIS, actually. KIS lets me strap the wing to the back of the kerbal, and treat it like a part, which means that once on the kerbal's back, you can right-click the wing and access its context menu, and it means that PartModules will work fine. The issue is with how KSP handles input to the user. The responses when on EVA are different than the responses when flying a craft. For instance, on EVA, if you press the w key, the kerbal will move forward and play the walk animation. With an aircraft, the plane will pitch down. Throttle controls don't seem to work with a kerbal on EVA either; no z key to max out the throttle, for instance. What I need is the ability to access the fligt control respones of an aircraft while the kerbal is on EVA. I also need the flying kerbal to stay pointed in the right direction with stability assist engaged. And I need to intercept the keypress so that instead of playing the walk animation, the kerbal with JetWing pitches down instead. Honestly I don't know if that is all possible.
 6.
there will be more jetpacks :D ?
Well the original KerbolQuest jetpacks mod had a non-winged jet pack, a rocket pack, and a hang glider. I already have the Outback, which stores stuff, of course. I could see a rocket pack for airless bodies, but probably that's about it. The rocket pack might come with a micro-grabber arm similar to the Buffalo Grabber Arm, and maybe a clamp-o-tron jr compatible docking port, but that will wait until I know what I can do with the JetWing. Some of my plans depend upon whether or not I can strap the wing to the back of the kerbal and control it like flying a plane. Just adding a sas module and probe core module isn't enough; what happens when you press those wasd keys on EVA is fundamentally different than when flying a plane. I wish I could talk to Mu or HarvestR or somebody on the core dev team who could tell me how to do that. If I am unable to and I'm stuck with the command seat approach then I'll know what I can do with the next pack.
 7.
do you must have kis to use jetpack?
Not required but highly recommended. Without KIS you'll have to attach the wing to your vessel in the VAB/SPH and then board it and decouple the wing from your craft. Without KIS you won't be able to refuel it or re-attach it to your ship.
 8.
Beautiful mod! Thanks a lot for the great work. The jetpack is a hidden gem right now. Even though it's experimental you could probably introduce it in the thread title. I m looking forward to giving it a try.
Good point. I'll change the title. Thanks for the suggestion. :)
 9.
JETPACK!!!! Genius!
And more than just a fun toy. You can mount science gear to it, fly to a remote site, and perform experiments. :) The wing itself is still experimental but it's definitely flyable.
YAAY! proper smoke pipe :D
Yup! Glad it's working for you. :)
 10.
Any chance of just getting the jet wing with out the rest of the packaged parts no disrespect intended its all i am really interested in
The JetWing is still experimental, so it isn't ready to be its own mod yet (hence the orange experimental stripes). My ideal version is one where you go on EVA, strap the wings to your back via KIS, and then fly like an aircraft. Thus far I can't do that, and the command seat approach is what I can do for now. Besides, Buffalo's theme is "Explore In Style" and the JetWing fits that theme well. Next update I can look at making the JetWing's art assets and part files self-contained though.
Any tips for driving on the Munar surface? I get ice-like traction trying to even move around the lander. My Buffalo uses a 2u flatbed, 3 chassis parts and 4 Omniwheels. 2 KIS small containers are secured to the buckboards, both empty (I suspect 1.0.5 wiped the inventories of the crates and the crew, as I had to edit a electric drill back in.) I haven't tried the Grizzly, do you think that would perform any better?
Low-gravity worlds are a challenge, so is making wheels in KSP. I'm finding that it's a bit of a black art to get the right traction. It sounds like I still need to tweak the wheels; bear in mind that it will make them harder to use on normal-gravity worlds..
 11. Next release you'll be able to re-bind the hover controls. For now, if the default controls don't work for you, right-click on the wing and click on "Show GUI" to show the on-screen hover controls:
 12.
Any way to rebind the "toggle VTOL" function? Using the Insert key on my laptop's a little difficult...
Not at the moment. The hooks to do so are in place, so next release you'll be able to do that. For now, if, if you right-click on the wing and click "Show GUI" you can use the on-screen hover controls. Below is a picture:
 13.
Huh. Is the little fusion reactor supposed to have a max FusionPellet capacity of 10, but start with 50? Or is that a typo?
Oh that's definitely a typo. It should start with 50 and has a max of 50. Thanks for pointing that out. :)
 14. Cross-posted from the Buffalo mod, JetWing is now available! Test pilots wanted. Ideal candidates are unafraid of diving into config files, modifying values to improve performance, and posting their results in the Buffalo thread. I won't be on this thread anymore as the KerbolQuest winged jetpack now has a spiritual successor. I hope it lives up to the original. :) Get the latest version of the Buffalo mod here. 0.2.3 Believe it or Not The Greatest American Hero Theme Song - Believe it or Not Now you can fly around any planet that has an atmosphere with a personal jet-powered wing! It works similarly to a command seat; just drop it on the ground (be careful, some terrain is explosive), right-click to board it, then rotate upright. Alternately, bolt it to the side of a craft, board, and decouple. The wing can be used on any planet with an atmosphere thanks to its monopropellant-powered jet engines. Just don't expect terrific range, unless you switch to liquid fuel and fly in an oxygenated atmosphere like Kerbin or Laythe. JetWing is inspired by JetMan Yves Rossy and the defunct KerbolQuest winged jetpack. The JetWing and its accessories work best with Kerbal Inventory System and either GoodSpeed Fuel Pump or TAC Fuel Balancer. In addition to the Jetwing, this release also introduces the M1A2 Grizzly, a larger wheel than the Mountain Goat that has a wider wheelbase and better traction. This all comes at the expense of not being able to enter and exit Mk3 cargo bays, however. Finally, the Outback is now included with the Buffalo MSEV. The Outback is a small backpack that can store a small amount of a variety of different resources. It requires Kerbal Inventory System, but it's handy for those pesky repair missions and can be attached to the JetWing. New Parts - Added the M1A2 Grizzly. - Added the JetWing. - Added the JetWing Drop Tank. Works great with Good Speed Fuel Pump or TAC Fuel Balancer. - Added the JetWing Parachute. Like the Outback, it can be attached to the JetWing. - Added the JetWing Cargo Pallet. Mount these to the wing's hardpoints and you can surface-attach small items. JetWing Flight controls Insert: Toggle VTOL mode PageUp: Increase vertical speed PageDown: Decrease vertical speed Delete: Reset vertical speed to zero Gear: Toggle kickstand Outback - Moved the Outback from Pathfinder to the Buffalo category.

 18.
ok, at least its not my install :) lots of good luck with the fix!
Thanks. :) All in all, it's going pretty well. Basically it involves some rebalancing, adding new templates, and making sure things still work.
 19.
Anyone else using OSE Workshop in conjunction with Pathfinder? after upgrading Clockworks and Blacksmith gives an error message it cannot init the Workshop GUI.
I am as well and am working on a fix. Thanks for the report. :) Looks like a lot has changed with the new OSE Workshop. For one, it doesn't look like I can switch between RocketParts and MaterialKits anymore. :( It also looks like you need ExoticMinerals and RareMetals for some parts as well. This will take me some time to sort out.
 20. Yay! Looking forward to more of your adventures and great story telling. Love the plot twists too!
 21.
Does this work ok with 1.0.5? Sorry if it has already been asked.
Yup! It works just fine in KSP 1.0.5.
Wow, this personal wing would make searching and moving on Duna (will the air pressure be ok?), Laythe and EVE super fun!
Exactly. :) The air pressure is fine, I've tested the wing on Duna as well as Kerbin. On Kerbin I can reach about 15k in altitude.
Hmmm... Ducted fans might be useful on Eve, instead of monoprop... Wait. No, I got a better idea. Monoprop turbofan. Use the monoprop as part of a gas generator, flow it across a power turbine that drives a larger fan. BAM. Significant performance boost.
The JetWing is capable of using monopropellant/atmosphere or liquid fuel/intake air, with mono propellant providing its own oxygen at reduced performance compared to liquid fuel. It also hovers, complete with jet engine-powered RCS for precision landings. The approach may lead to other parts in the future... I was testing things out over the weekend; it's definitely flyable and has pretty good range. Some compromises had to be made though; the wing has a parachute accessory, but I haven't had any luck making it useable as an individual KIS part that you can strap to your back and jump out of an aircraft with. If you strap it to the back of the wing, however, you're fine. The initial prototype will take some creativity to use properly (hence the experimental stripes on the top of the wing), but hopefully later revisions will improve things. That's where I'm needing help. Ideal test pilots will be unafraid to dive into the config files and tweak values to test performance improvements and then post their results. Anyway, the next batch of updates will be available soon.
 22. It occurs to me that with Kopernicus, you might be able to actually put Kerbulous into the save...
 23.
20 years? Well it doesn't matter since kerbals are biologically immortal. Lobsters are too, apparently. Yeah, at this point in the save, about 20 years have gone by. Anyway, been busy working on mods, but here's the latest: The Bird Dog 1 lifted off of the Launchpad, severely damaging it in the process. Once it cleared the tower, it straightened up vertically to begin its ascent. After settling its gyros, the satellite angled 45 degrees to simultaneously gain altitude and orbital speed. It didn’t take long for Bird Dog 1 to reach apoapsis, immediately deploy its solar panels and high-gain antenna, and circularize its orbit. Despite the sun’s radio interference, the high-gain was able to cut through the static and talk to Lowlands Base. It still couldn’t talk to Kerbin, however. *** “And we have water,” Bob said excitedly. “We even get some electric charge out of the process. I can pretty much do the same thing with liquid fuel and oxidizer.” “Great job, Bob,” Val acknowledged. “Between this and the successful test flight of the Appaloosa and Bird Dog, we’re on our way to salvaging the mission. Ok, Jeb, you can have the Komet after we build another Iron Works. Appaloosa landed in what looks like a decent spot. Outfit the Komet, take Bill and Bob, and get us some minerals. And while you’re out there, confirm the TERRAIN’s findings. If it looks good, then we’ll make plans to move the base. Resources are tight, so you can raid the Mule’s transfer stage for whatever you need.” “We need better wheels for the terrain,” Jeb said. “The existing ones are too slippery.” “Can we build new ones?” Bill looked hopeful. “We can recycle the old ones, and whatever else we’re not using.” Val gave it some thought, but it didn’t take long. “Go for it, Bill, we’ll need them at some point so let’s get it done now.” The veteran engineer immediately grabbed his younger counterpart and got to work. *** With the rovers refitted, Bill and Jeb drove out to the Mule Transfer Stage to grab what they could. Jeb parked right next to the spent stage, and Bill wasted no time bolting ladders onto its sides to simplify the salvage operation. Soon, the explorers had what they needed and headed back to base. A couple days later, Bill and Gerbles finished repairing and refitting the Komet for her new mission. After the team said their goodbyes, Bill, Bob, and Jeb posed for a picture before launching into the sky. *** “She’s a bit sluggish,” Jeb noted as the Komet lifted into the thin air, “must be all the weight we’re carrying. I’m going ballistic-” “And with me sitting next to you? Great,” Bill quipped. “Not like that, heh! Ballistic arc. We’ll boost for as long as we can, then glide the rest of the way.” Komet arced over at nearly 20 kilometers up, then headed downward. Despite Jeb’s piloting, the plane wasn’t going to reach their destination. Not wanting to give up, the veteran pilot waited until the last possible moment to deploy the chutes, but fourteen chutes proved inadequate for their load. Jeb gripped the controls like a vice, this was going to be a hard landing. “Brace for impact!” Komet’s wings flexed as the craft slammed into the ground, but she held together. The only thing screeching louder than bending metal were Bill and Bob. They landed 31 klicks east of their desired landing zone, well short of their target. And without fuel, they were stuck. At least it didn't take long to setup the camp. Not long after, Jeb figured out why they came up short and landed hard.
