  1. Today, I made a firework. A very expensive firework...
  2. No! Walkabout! You finally succumbed to the cruel purple planet and its glitch minions... RIP, you will be missed, brave adventurer... I do hope you have another go at this or at least find a way to continue it. Eve circumnavigation must not be left unconquered!
  3. I've produced the "klaw stops all relative motion" bug, but this isn't all that useful. However, I have produced a possibly useful bug with the Klaw, something I like to call the "the klaw warp drive". Basically, the Klaw somehow "locks" your relative motion, so you're essentially translating through space; gravity or any other force has no effect on the craft. I did this by attaching multiple klaws to one part and time-warping. Take a look at these pictures to see what I mean: As you can see, I was able to lock my motion relative to Kerbin and basically translate straight upwards. There's certainly potential here for a stock warp-drive. However, I've yet to figure out how to turn the Klaw warp drive off...
  4. I suspect that one of the parts on your space-plane has become "stuck" in space, like this: As you can see, the probe core is levitating and will not move at all. When the craft was intact, it would not move either. I have no idea what causes this bug, it seems to just "happen", but I do know a way to test for it: break your craft to pieces. Try forcefully dissembling your craft (with decouplers or ramming it). If this is indeed a levitating part bug, you'll find that many of the parts on your ship will scatter in the disassembly, but 1 or more parts will remain stuck in their original positions.
  5. When my KSP is loading (or reloading after the nth crash), I'll ALT-TAB and browse the forum, and perhaps watch a 2-3 minute video.
  6. I used to make heavy-lifter Jet-powered VTOL SSTOs: (Okay, they aren't technically VTOLs, they are VTVLs(Verticle takeoff, Verticle Landing) but close enough!) The largest variant could carry 164 tons to orbit.
  7. You know, it is supposed to be a firework... But, its not supposed to do that! (or is it...)
  8. Well, It appears I have some work to do on my Girandola... Video coming soon!tm
  9. I once had an Eve rover: I landed it at sea-level, then drove it inland ~120 km so that I could launch it from a mountain. Took about 5 hours of driving. But that isn't much considering the other crazy rover drivers on this forum (I'm looking at you, Wooks and Fengist!)
  10. Yes, its is. In fact, magnemoe built a "sea-level" Jool "lander". Personally, I've taken the "high speed aerobrake" option to gather Jool low and high science: This could be done wayy better though. The ship is literally just a collection of modules I borrowed off my grand tour ship. I never intended to go Jool diving when I planned the mission but since I had the extra fuel, I figured "why not"?
  11. This just keeps getting better and better! Can't wait!
  12. Well, lets just say that my "station thing" had modular components on it. At the very top is a generic science module for gathering science from the surface; in the middle is a atmospheric science module for gathering any science reports from lower and upper atmosphere; and the lander can is a module I nabbed off the station for crew reports from the atmosphere and surface. Basically, I attached modules to the lander so that I could get the science I want from a given planet/moon. The downside is that it looks like a pile of junk.
  13. 1. Cut down on part count: Ask yourself, do you absolutely need this part? If not, get rid of it!
  14. Hmm, this challenge seems interesting... I think I'll have a go at it as soon as I find the time...
  15. You don't need that much to land on Tylo: The trick is to take an efficient landing profile: start in as low of an orbit as possible and control vertical speed to prevent high speed litho-braking.
  16. My Duna Lander. Its basically a tower of junk strapped on top of a lander. Duna's gravity is fairly weak so you don't need much power to land/orbit. This lander has a mass of about 4 tons (full) and is powered by a single Rockomax 48-7S but it still has enough TWR to land (with parachutes), and reach orbit without ditching anything.
  17. Yes! I would love to have something like this! Also, smoke effects when landing/taking off would be nice.
  18. What about the lovely "docking ports won't undock" bug that can only be fixed by save-file editing? I think I'm cursed or something, because this bug happens to me all. the. dang. time. It happened on my sigma mission. It happened on my outer wilds mission. And now it just happened on my most recent mission. Now I have go into the 200,000+ line persistence file and find the ONE docking port that's causing the problem... Ugh... Also this: Although its hard to tell from this picture, the command seat is actually attached to the radial drop tank instead of the center tank. I have no idea how this happened... Also Klaws are buggy. (not just in the planet destroying way)
  19. I've taken 3524 screenshots, ~600mb... Don't ask why, I'm not even sure how I got that many myself.
  20. Thanks! I used a procedural thrust plate from the procedural fairings mod to cluster the engines. It gives a nice, sturdy "plate" to mount your engines on and it helps reduce part-count (you only need one thrust plate instead of 'n' radial attachment parts), so its a win-win! I'm also using Kerbal Joint Reinforcer and I highly recommend you download it if you haven't already. It allows you to build big without making your rocket a cobweb of struts. Also, If your rocket is falling apart when the physics kicks in, then KJR may fix that problem, as it reduces the physics stress during loading. Thanks for the feed-back! Now that I look back on it, I realize I could of done something more comedic with launch-pad destruction. In fact, I should have had more comedic moments in the video. I think I took things a bit too seriously in this project... You may be right about my insanity, but is it a good kind? I'm doubtful of that myself...
  21. My B9 capital ship: Also, this pic didn't turn out that bad:
  22. So... I'm kinda new to this whole "cinematic" thing. And by that, I mean this is literally the first cinematic I have ever made. So feedback is greatly appreciated! Main thread is here if you'd like to know more...
  23. Has it really been so long? I started this project 4 months ago and now I finally have something to show for it... Behold! My grand-tour adventure has begun! Hopefully it isn't too cringe-worthy... More details here... Now, while I initially set out on this project as a Jool-5 Kethane entry, the project has mutated into something way different. And I've learned a lot along the way. For instance, I've learned how to build functioning planes in FAR (not to say I'm that good at though), I've learned how to build an Eve lander with FAR and DRE (a lot harder than it sounds), I've learned how to "mod" parts to make things more interesting/reduce part count and I've learned how to record, edit and create videos.. I didn't know any of this before I began this adventure... So I guess its time to thank Ziv again for the inspiration and for hosting the one of the most legendary KSP challenges... I don't expect you accept this mission when its finished, or even look at it. I just want to let you know that you inspired me to do something crazy that I would have never thought of on my own.
