[1.7.2] KK Launchers - Delta, Atlas Pack
Kartoffelkuchen replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Nice! Though, not a bullseye..you can do better I wouldn't bet on it. You should give it a go, maybe it works, maybe there are some issues. Generally speaking, since there were no breaking changes between 1.1 and 1.2 (?), I guess it should be working, try it out and let me know! I wasn't planning on updating that, or at least the Atlas V in it though, since a new, better one will come with the ULA pack. I won't say a release date now cause it willl turn out false anyway again, so.. Edit: Just working on the Iridium NEXT payload fairing, I am painting that one myself off of a crappy low-res copy of the one posted on twitter. Damn you Iridium for not even having your NEXT logo available (in a resonably resolution)! -

No, it's a ship which you can move & all. Somebody once threw a config out here to make it use Kerbal Konstructs, but I'm not sure if that is still working. -
[1.3] kOS Scriptable Autopilot System v1.1.3.0
Kartoffelkuchen replied to erendrake's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Here's my latest progress on a reusable launcher using kOS code: The rocket is based on a scaled up Blue Origin New Shephard, while the capsule will land propulsively, similarily to a Crew Dragon. All the algorithms behind this have been optimized over the last couple months (I showed off some early tests of such a script before) and have been enhanced, I am currently working on the boostback script. I will bundle the different functions into a library which I will release once I'm happy with it. You can also check some of my previous videos to see how this evolved: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvEftEP1HK3N8YtGYG85-_Q/videos -
[1.7.2] KK Launchers - Delta, Atlas Pack
Kartoffelkuchen replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Yes, got something in work. I actually got so many things in work, in an unfinished state (Atlases, some early Delta's, Indian Launchers, Ariane 4, Falcon 5, Delta III (revamped)...) I don't really know what to work on. I guess I'll just work on what I want to work on, I didn't have much motivation in the past to really work on this, but I am going to come back to this with the new year now. So excuse me for not posting anything new here recently. -
You think 32k is much? This baby here has about 150k tris (as raw model, less as KSP model, I optimized it slightly): https://sketchfab.com/models/4976409463594cfb83acdd1cfed174de And even this Merlin 1D has 47k tris, and nine of them are attached to the first stage of the F9 in KSP, and it runs just fine: https://sketchfab.com/models/2e88061d2ef74a4db8b3282a191b4b34 Do not underestimate the power of Unity (heh) and KSP, it can handle quite heavy models. Colliders & textures are the limiting factors. My record is 750k tris for a full Falcon 1 rocket, but I really overexxagerated a little there.

[1.7.2] KK Launchers - Delta, Atlas Pack
Kartoffelkuchen replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
@thomash Thanks for your feedback! - Yeah, you might want to disable destructable buildings if you want to avoid that, however you seem to enjoy it! - I'd love to do a proper IVA, however I dont know how, so I just went with that one for now. - That's because the real one also has, will have, RCS thrusters running on the same propellant as the engines. - I'm gonna think about that. - Yes, no hatch nor ladder yet. Will add that. - Will add it. - Good idea. @TheRagingIrishman Thanks! No, these parts are actually real scale, so F9 is 3.66m, ITS 12m dia. -

SpaceX Pack V.4 * Added Interplanetary Transportation System: Raptor (vacuum & surface), ship, booster * Removed OSF dependency to make fairings work again Download Keep in mind that the ITS might not yet be properly configured, I'd still call it in a Beta phase. I mainly wanted to release this so people can play with those Raptors. -

Holy moly, looks awesome! -
I do not know how this will turn out, but I thought I'd post it. Also, it's not really stockalike, it is obviously based on a real thing, but I'm not really gonna replicate it. It will be a...well, I hope, better looking Falcon 9 1.0. The texture will be somewhat incluenced by that stylish Blue Origin style paintjob and a kerbal agency. I have no idea how this will turn out, I'll just keep working on it. Maybe I'll rename this mod, and just publish everything non-replica thingy here, I'll have to think about that. I mean, who says that parts which don't look as old and greyish as the stock parts can't be a stockalike part? If somehow I can make them have their own unique style..well ok, they are not stockalike...ugh I don't know. Just tell me your opinion as I post updates.

[1.7.2] KK Launchers - Delta, Atlas Pack
Kartoffelkuchen replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Sorry for the silence, I've been busy. I am right now making final adjustments to ITS, it's not complete yet (solar arrays, textures not the best), but I'll release it as a Beta soon. Especially because people would really like to have these Raptor engines I think. I'm also going to fix the fairings for all tre rockets, add antennas to them so that they are usable in 1.2 (.1). This shouldn't take long, so I guess I'll release within the next days. @ArkaelDrenThanks -
So @Felbourn, are you going to continue this mod and get it working in KSP 1.2...?

This is a hot candidate for thread of the month..

This seems promising.

[1.7.2] KK Launchers - Delta, Atlas Pack
Kartoffelkuchen replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Hey guys, just a brief note from me about the ULA pack, because some people seemed to be a little confused about this. So, first of all, we asked ULA for Tory Bruno's visit in the Kerbal Academy stream if they'd like the idea of having an official ULA mod for KSP, which they greatly appreciated. This mod will include the Delta II, Delta IV, Atlas V and Vulcan launchers. We also have plans for ULA's Cislunar architecture, which we will probably include in later updates of that mod. We, that's EJ_SA, 0snapp and me, KK. We have got a meeting setup with ULA for tomorrow to review our work. After that meeting we will refine the mod based on their feedback, and will talk about a release date. We had a cool thing for the release planned, which we will need to talk about with ULA, and also release when they have the time for it, but I can't really give more information about that right now. Secondly, and maybe even most importantly, we are not getting paid a single pence. We are doing this completely for free, in our freetime, only because we want this mod to happen. I'm a student, and I don't have too much free time, but I'm still doing it, because I love KSP, 3D modelling and rockets. That's it for this topic I believe. Now, for Launchers Pack, I unfortunately didn't have much time to work on this, ITS is still lacking the solar panels, ugh I hate these parts, but I was able to finish the launch mount. I'm not 100% happy with the way it works right now, but it's kinda working as it should I guess. Pictures to follow. I can say with pretty much 100% confidence that this pack is not working in 1.2 right now, due to the lack of the appropriate antenna modules needed for communication now. I'll add that and upload a new version as soon as I got the time for it. Thanks -
Yes, it was a very nominal launch. https://youtu.be/F3W

[1.7.2] KK Launchers - Delta, Atlas Pack
Kartoffelkuchen replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Not exactly. You can change it during flight though, you'll need firespitter for this. Yeah, I thought of something like that too, but that'd going to be reaaally complicated, and I'd like to concentrate more on the things you actually fly instead of wasting time on a super accurate, fully functional tower. If there's a relatively low-effort way of doing it, I'll do, otherwise, no. -
[1.7.2] KK Launchers - Delta, Atlas Pack
Kartoffelkuchen replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
They're not actually "real" landing legs, just some animated colliders, so no suspension. I don't know how to do them properly, and didn't have the motivation to do so, since the way landing legs are set up changed with every update, kinda. I'll rework them when I have an idea of how to make it properly. I would love to do so, but I have zeeero idea of how to do it. So a static tower, yes, maybe with some animations, but not more for now. -
[1.7.2] KK Launchers - Delta, Atlas Pack
Kartoffelkuchen replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I thought about some options there. Landing legs is a no go, I won't do that for realism purpose, but I will model the "mount" where it lands on/in. This sounds hard at first, BUT!: I'll do a little bit of magic with the colliders. I'lö arrange them in a way that they provide a kind of "funnel" so that the stage kinda "slides in". Willhave to see how that works, it's nevertheless very hard, but doable. @MurdoxYup, HE will be extremely helpful Thank you! -

Getting there. Need to adjust aero of the ship a bit, add the solar panels (and I'd also need to add an IVA... I have to see), plus some small fixes. @FutureMartian97 Surprisingly it doesn't. @mark7 Definitely.
