  1. Does anyone have interest in this? With some tips from Sippyfrog, I was able to get to the vanilla EVA suits, so as to make a stock-alike set of EVA outfits for your pilot (red), engineer (yellow) and scientist (blue). They're nothing crazy, and I'm just using them for myself, but I don't mind sharing if people want.
  2. Ah hah! Surely there must be a tutorial somewhere? I'll look; a head's up would be great.
  3. If one were to take a crack at doing some skins for Pilot/Engineer/Scientist, where would one find the vanilla files to work from? I've looked all over my install, but I can't find them.
  4. I am enjoying .90 immensely because I have fallen in love with the new SPH/VAB build tools. The offset and rotate tools, once I really understood how to use them, have allowed me to build things I would never have been able to before. I am completely in love with the new functions, and am fiddling at levels of precision I could only have dreamed of before.
  5. Hi, Your problem is not with a mod, but rather with the 64-bit version of KSP. There is a unity-engine-level bug making those buildings appear upgraded, even though they aren't, which leads you to not be able to upgrade them and receive the added benefits and functions. This is a known bug, though I don't have any links for you. I don't think there is a way to fix it at the moment.
  6. I agree. I download the entire thing, then go one folder in and delete the "city lights" directory, leaving me with only those awesome clouds.
  7. Oh cool. Somewhere in my Kerballing I got hooked into the plane aspect. Sometimes I'll play an entire night just designing planes and flying them around. Dig a seaplane: http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/538507634896187605/3964549356B1ABA1C64D3EBC3B18AE1DF1323701/
  8. Wanted to bop in and say thank you. This is the fairings mod to use, as far as I am concerned. I use it not only to make sweet fairings for my rockets, but all sorts of other construction needs too. Some of the newer additions, such as the adjustable length UI functions are to die for. Thanks again, and Happy New Year.
  9. I've recently installed this, and quite enjoy it so far. I wanted to describe a scene to you, and perhaps you can adjust something internally so the situation is prevented. I took 3 kerbals to Munar orbit, and landed 2 of them Apollo style. I had a live contract to plant a flag on the Mun. Since this was my first Mun landing, I had Jebediah at the controls, and scientist Bob on board to collect some samples. Land. Jeb out first, one small step for Kerbals. Plants flag. Bob comes out, EVA report, surface sample, collect data from instruments on the vessel. All aboard, rendezvous, home. Turns out Bob is awarded "First Kerbal to set foot on the Mun" (because he was the first to take an EVA report). I guess planting a flag as an action isn't on the "first" list? Could "landed at" be used, such that literally the first footsteps on a planet would be used as criteria instead of "first to complete an EVA activity (except flagplacing) on xyz planet"? You get my drift here, yeah?
  10. I can report a full evening of shenanigans without any sort of the problems described previously. I'm almost willing to say fixed by updating tweakscale, but martin not using it still bothers me.
  11. These cats seem to be having the same issue, and are thinking it was an older version of tweakscale causing the problem, which would be strange since you're not using it, martin. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/104141-Ship-freaks-out-on-reload Edit: I updated to 1.5 on tweakscale and was able to go to that polar orbit satellite of mine without issue. Went to the flag, and it was still knocked over from before, I'll have to place a new one. Tweakscale can't be the problem if martin isn't using it. ?
  12. What was the solution? It looks like a bit of the problem we're having over here. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/104637-Loading-Any-Save-Destroys-My-Ship%28s%29
  13. Wow, Martin, nice work. It looks like you might know a bit more about how these files and lines of code function than I do, but I'm willing to learn. I looked in the log file I posted in the OP, and I found at the bottom some NullReferenceExceptions as well, seemingly related to Tweakscale perhaps. Indeed, I do not use crowdsourced science reports (though I've been meaning to!) 14. So I gave this a try. When I loaded the flag it became dislodged from the ground and fell over. Its like a huge force is tearing at these objects when they're being loaded. However, the flag did not shoot into the air so I think the tearing is only for a split second. I then went back to the Tracking Center and grabbed control of a satellite in Kerbin orbit. Loaded it in to see this: Note that no RCS or SAS is engaged. This situation lasted for 10 seconds and then the craft vanished, though it appears to still be there on the map view. This is really weird. Its making this career not-so-playable now. Here, I even made a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyI4PGbpDxI I do not touch the controls at all, except for moving the camera to orient you against Kerbin. Satelite is at high north on a polar orbit. When the craft vanishes, I move the camera to look for it, but its gone. I show you the map to see that the orbit of the craft hasnt changed, and it says it should still be there. Come back from the map (should be camera on vessel) and there is none to be found. I can go back to the Tracking Station and repeat this process at this point.
  15. Nice, glad I could be of some help. Post what you create with your new-found understanding!
  16. You can do just that with Kerbal Attachment System mod. Take a look at it, its really not as tedious as one might think and gives your guys something to do up in space rather than EVA reports while hanging off ladders.
  17. Additionally, look at this sorcery. I went in and dropped the fuel out of my only tank. Note how the center of mass actually moves slightly forward at this point. The longer this plane flies, the less fuel it has, the more stable it becomes. That's something that is a nice feature. Design for a stable, balanced craft both empty and full. Start with the tanks empty, and at the center of mass. When you add fuel, the COM should stay the same.
  18. You need the center of lift (blue arrow pointing up) way further back. As you lose the fuel in the tanks (front tank first), the center of mass will move further back. The point at which you plane got jacked up is when the center of mass moved behind the center of lift. Check out my quickie plane for survey & temp missions. Note how far back my lift is at the launch. Also note that I have only one fuel tank, centrally located. The other two are structural fuselages. This way, when the fuel drains, there is less of it far forward, meaning the center of mass wont change as much. Its a clean, classic design. This thing flys like a dream. Also people, remember to offset those landing gear bays up into the wings. You could try offsetting those upper wings lower, and tilt them back a bit as well. This will kick your lift angle back, away from the center of mass. You could lose the 3rd engine, 2 is plenty; one is almost enough with a plane that small. My plane will easily get over 1km/sec way up high with just one engine. Fuel lasts forever too, and don't forget about drop tanks to extend your range. I can put some on that thing, and get big distance. They get used first and off they go. An easy start would be to remove half the fuel from the rear fuel tanks, and see what that does for you. If thats not enough, try replacing them with empty structural fuselages and see where that puts the center of mass. You should also fly it until it freaks out again and note your fuel levels in each tank when it happens. Then you can go back to the hangar and make the fuel levels the same, and observe your center of mass and lift positions at the point at which stability is lost.
  19. I'll give that a shot, thanks for the tip. I keep a flag at the KSC to targeting purposes, that'll do. Indeed, the engines and RCS seems to fire like that, a split second before the explosion. In other cases, its not even an explosion per se. A regular plane with all stock parts gets the fuselage (made of 1.25m liquid fuel plane fuselage parts) ripped apart upon loading. Thats it alright. It happens as soon as the last of the load-in-lag stops, right where you should get control of the ship.
  20. Hello, Recently purged my mods and started anew with .90 (windows 32 bit). I put a few mods in that have been updated to .90, and have been playing for awhile without issue. I usually don't save during missions, but today I have the need to. Upon reloading my save, my entire ship breaks apart. Played some more and had another occasion needing a save. This time with engines off in a nice orbit around the Mun. Load the game, go to tracking center, fly craft, it too explodes upon loading. RCS appears to be firing in all directions at once, from what I can see before it explodes. This is obviously not going to work, so I need to find a solution. No one else having this issue? 21. Thanks for this mod. I really like using the orange tank parts (especially the cones and blisters) for all kinds of jobs, not just shuttles. I also really like the punch of the XS25 engines, for all manner of uses. I also use the orbital and mains when creating shuttles too. Really enjoy these parts man, thank you.
  22. Thanks for the new editor functions and spaceplane parts! I'm not so sure the other stuff is for me or not yet, but I've just deleted all my mods and might have a go at stock to see what's what. Have a nice holidays, Squad.
  23. This addon is a godsend. I don't know how I played so long without it. My most sincere thanks.
  24. Today (and the last 2 days) I have been working on a whole maritime project. I first made a seaplane after someone on another forum mentioned doing one. It turned out really great; handles like a dream and is really safe on the water, but lacks significant range. It only has 60 units on liquid fuel onboard, which gets about ~100km or so, give or take. Next plan was to make a tanker ship of sorts that could rendezvous with the plane and refuel it. It gets 81.5m/sec top speed, and carries almost 6,000 units of liquid fuel for itself and the planes. KAS of course to perform the refueling. Eventually this lead me to installing Kerbinside, though I am able to launch the ship from the runway without the mod. So now, I am using the planes to fly around and check out some of the new Kerbinside attractions, while following them with the ships.
