Jeff Bezos (Amazon's founder) has been pulling old Apollo series rocket parts up from the ocean bottom for preservation. The Apollo 11 parts are to be sent to the Smithsonian Air And Space Museum ... something to look forward to. Other parts from other missions will go to other locations (presumably museums). I'm sure when the time comes there will be more news on this in the media. For now, the latest... http://io9.com/jeff-bezos-recovered-apollo-rocket-parts-have-been-pres-1722897200

Why would one try to launch from inside a building in the first place?

Understood the science is on/in the ground. From the air however, spotting things of potential interest would be a lot more convenient / productive, especially if you're just a meter or two or three above ground. This is more along the lines of what I would focus on. I thought balloon because it might work easier in thin atmosphere than helicopter blades; If they've got a solution for that, even better. Such a drone could perhaps lift and transport experiments to the sites of interest discovered and put them down there, maybe even to sites unreachable by rovers.

I finally finished SCANsat mapping all bodies in the Kerbol system. Just in time for the next game-breaking update (snicker).

The very first time you play the game and attempt to time warp, it spits out a little message informing you that time warping has to potential to destroy your ship. Did you forget that one?

I'm puzzled why NASA seems so focused on ground rovers for Mars. I know the atmosphere there is around 100 times thinner than that of Earth, but why not use airborne drones?... as in balloon drones? Having such low gravity to start with, it wouldn't take much for a balloon drone to attain neutral buoyancy - even a drone of significant weight. As for propulsion, between the atmosphere and low gravity, how about compressed air? It wouldn't take much. A simple on-board electric powered compressor could use Mars own atmosphere for the 'fuel'. Just imagine where something like that could go.

Yes, no problem opening that. Nice page by the way.

My Minmus base mission made me change my mind about multiplayer
LordFerret replied to ShadowZone's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I'm waiting to see how they'll handle time-warping in multiplayer. That's going to be a tough nut to crack. -
I always take an engineer along on missions... you never know when you'll need one to fix a flat rover tire - plus they always carry duct tape with them.

Your image link appears to be questionable. - - - Updated - - - Forgot to include this...

I think I'd turn the car around and start heading the other way lol.

[1.1]Hullcam VDS - mod adopted by linuxgamer
LordFerret replied to Albert VDS's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Excellent! {Would prefer the text all the way over on the margin.} And that night-vision cam is awesome... can't wait to try that out on some dark side landings. -
I can't believe the word filter didn't like that. Let's try "alluring".

Four turns into the game, Val walks into the room wearing her .... new spacesuit. What game?

I had 3 orbiting labs up, 1 around Kerbin, 1 around Mun, and 1 around Minmus. They've been up there for quite a while, generating science. Today, all 3 came home. One of them didn't quite make it ... but oddly enough, it seems they did. Call me confused. After that, going to the Astronaut Complex I see this... Even though they're "dead", they're not ... they're alive and well and available.

That first picture... is that Ephesus? Edit: Bah... never mind, I see you stated it wasn't.

My observation has been that cats don't need to observe anything to play or not play with anything. lol

[1.1]Hullcam VDS - mod adopted by linuxgamer
LordFerret replied to Albert VDS's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Oh? I didn't realize that! Downloading your image and viewing 100% in Gimp, now I see it. And here I was going to suggest a blackened box in a corner with the white text in it ... or ... doing the text in a translucent green like many HUDs do. -

I like that reticle better. I wouldn't complain if it were even finer and/or translucent ... but that's up to you. I agree with the single column text idea, but have no preference if it's left side or right - just not in so close to center ... white lettering tends to get washed out with brightly lit parts when coming in docking (my experience anyway with Lazor). Did I mention I'm psyched for this?!? -
{Imagining how Schrodinger's cat might or might not have played with the sphere of trapped light.}

If you had not posted that, I wouldn't have believed it.

Airbus presents concept for Mach 4 passenger plane

Considering their current track record, you won't find me riding on this any time soon. -
hitchBot's US journey ended just after 300 miles.
LordFerret replied to RainDreamer's topic in The Lounge
I read "Philadelphia" and all I could do is laugh... if it wasn't Philly, there's about a hundred other cities here in the US that would have easily seen to its demise as well. What were they thinking?!?!? -
I live out in the country, somewhat, it's called the Pine Barrens. I'm not too far from Lakehurst NAB... they tolerate very little; You don't question much when you see big black SUV's with Govt plates cruising your neighborhood investigating things. They do such for less around here; I made the mistake once of stopping on the highway to take a picture of the static Blue Angel which sits out at the entrance on display ... I had armed MPs show up out of nowhere to ask what I was doing, check my credentials, and then advise me to "Move along. No picture taking allowed." ..... and I live here no less, even have done volunteer work at the base. This isn't a game. Guess you don't follow the news much, as of late it's been a serious issue..... http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/16/us/lasers-flights-new-jersey/ http://abcnews.go.com/US/pilots-hit-lasers-jersey-york/story?id=32615847 http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/17/nyregion/12-aircraft-targeted-by-laser-beams-above-new-jersey.html http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2015/07/16/new-jersey-planes-hit-by-laser/ http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2015/07/11-airplanes-hit-by-lasers-over-new-jersey.html By all means, come here and try it, see how you fare. Should make for good entertainment. If the local police nab you, you might make the news. If MPs nab you, I doubt highly we'll hear about it. This I can tell you, they're actively seeking those who do such. - - - Updated - - - Oh, and they way things are going these days, if people keep this stuff up, it won't be long before there is a law/regulation about sale/ownership of lasers and pointing them skyward. And I forgot, there's also news of this out in California. Similar incidents. - - - Updated - - - ...and back on topic... worir4, great pictures! Thanks for sharing!
