  1. Can you say 'dumb'? I can. I have a series of relays in an orbit between Dres and Jool, and I went to adjust / circularize the orbit of the last constellation member... it should have been a 30-some-odd minute burn (Ion). Well, I had dinner. Yep, I forgot about it. I returned to find the craft still in a burn, heading out of Kerbol's SOI... 1hr and 22mins worth. So now, I'm fixing it. Thankfully I actually have the fuel to do it. KAC KAC KAC
  2. This was quite a long time ago, but I watched a guy nearly cut his thumb off with a wood saw. Camping/Canoe trip. Guy goes to cut a log in half. He's not the sharpest tool in the shed mind you. Instead of making his initial cut by drawing the saw back across the log (pulling towards himself), he does it by pushing the saw forward across the log (pushing away from himself). The saw hopped and landed on his thumb, slicing him good. I winced. He screamed, and as he did, he actually pulled the saw back, slicing himself a second time. SMH and facepalm. Can you say Darwin Award winner? Yes, we wrapped him up and brought him to a hospital.
  3. While I have constant classical (Baroque mostly) playing at home, I have Chatterer too... along with all other game sounds. There have been occasions where Chatterer gets wonky on me though. The situation is that the capsule keeps talking to Command, so Command answers. I've tried to change the interval setting, but to no avail. At some points it just becomes non-stop, and I have to shut the thing off entirely. I don't know what causes it. M'Lady gets into hysterics (laughter) over it when she hears me yelling at it to 'Aww Shut The Hell Up!!!' I like classical especially when I'm in the VAB building something. In-flight, I'm not really paying attention to the music, more-so what I'm doing (maneuvers, landing, whatever).
  4. If you went to the likes of Home Depot or Lowes, you could get a cut to size Lexan sheet for about $30 (standard window size, like 48x36 or 48x48). Unless it's a vinyl or aluminum frame, the only thing else you'll need is caulk and a caulking knife.
  5. Aldi's! They've got a group of Corvette Clubs around here, and when they get together you'll see hundreds of them (literally) on the road, especially when they do a rally.
  6. No need for Scotty, it exists. ALON Optical Ceramic
  7. ? Really ? I'm surprised, although I've heard many comment about its weight. I use it, my largish Duna lander for example.
  8. Plexi can crack and break as well... go with Lexan. Lexan scratches easier, but it's far stronger and harder to break.
  9. @kerbiloid I do not speak Russian. Having Google translated the article you posted, I still see no reference or indication of anything resulting from 'male chauvinism'. However, M'Lady is quite fluent in Russian, and I will have her read and translate it for me tonight. I'll reply again then.
  10. Exactly, nothing moving, no transfer of heat or light... you'd freeze in less than a nanosecond.
  11. No, things would just be really really really really really really really cold.
  12. Nowhere, in any documentation I've read, has this come up as a fact. If I'm missing something, cite it for me.
  13. - https://pgda.gsfc.nasa.gov/products/62 The USGS also has additional data.
  14. The last update seriously brings that statement to question.
  15. Early on, was it Gummy Bears or Swedish Fish that had the ethylene glycol in them? (It was why the kids were immune to the cold in winter )
  16. You know, the solution to all of this is to genetically re-engineer people and give them wings.
  17. Cute. Clickbait. You got me. Shoulda been a RickRoll... you missed your chance.
  18. Coffee... always. And Jelly Beans, I can't say no to Jelly Beans.
  19. Today, 2 pieces. Niccolo Jommelli, 1714 – 1774. First, Sinfonia in G major, and as one of the YouTube posters notes; performed on a hammered dulcimer Second, Piano Concerto in D major
  20. Wendy Carlos was an amazing guy... er... ah... gal. Whatever. Switched-On Bach was amazing, and I remember when it was released. I immediately bought a copy when it became available.
  21. Unfortunately I do not know, and I'm always a bit upset about it. It was a copy from vinyl that a friend gave me going close to 30 years ago, and that friend has since passed. I have no way of finding out.
