It's more likely you had no electrical power left. I turn engines on and off, and tanks on and off, all the time.

While I've not dropped a rover yet, I'm about to. With adequate chutes and the brakes set, I don't foresee it going anywhere. I've dropped plenty of manned capsules in the past; Placement was never a problem, neither was the capsule rolling - anti-roll measures were added. What was a problem was flying out beyond 2km of the drop, where the game would then turn it into debris... so circles until it landed.

Drove up to the top. Rover took lots of damage on the way... rollovers... damned seams. No hope of recharging the batteries, I let it roll over the side. So now I'm up here. The view is so beautiful I could die..... wait..... how am I getting down??? You're just going to have to sit there and chill, buddy. The other rescue rovers are literally days away... and there's seams..... lots of seams.

Probe cores. I don't know about you, but every ship I build meant to carry crew gets a probe core slapped on it first and tests are run... and that includes full trips to whatever body and back home. But that's just me. LOL!... I don't need a cheat menu for that! Like I said, might work. Could be onto something here.

All depends on your audience.

totm march 2020 So what song is stuck in your head today?

Alessandro Piccinini - Perfect for a quiet snowy morning. -
Well, 'bois' I know means 'wood' in French. And checking out 'gurl', I find its definition to be a "Term of address between gay men or transgender women." It's an interesting choice of words. Glad to hear everything is ok. My tip for you, is to play more KSP and concern yourself less with wood and gay / transgender greetings. At least here anyway. Not the answer you were expecting, I'm sure. But, welcome to the forums!

Konopoly? Go straight to the Kraken's lair, do not pass the launch pad, do not collect moar boosters. Might work.

@Green Baron My friend's brother lives (from time to time) in the Canary Islands... which, I'm not sure. He's a surf fanatic. Cowabunga baby. A bit of a nut. Madman, was part of the cast (an extra) of Game Of Thrones, got himself thrown off the set for madcap behavior. Eccentrics with money, very unpredictable. He might be in Croatia at the moment, not sure. Keeps telling me I have to come out and catch some waves with him. Nice picture.

Tis cold out, and snowing... again. Stepped outside to check it out; It's so unbelievably quiet, all I can hear (literally) is the ringing of my tinnitus. Back inside..... Bach, lute suites.

At the moment... listening to Hopkinson Smith's Bach Suites 1, 2, and 3 for lute. Simply perfect with the snow falling outside my window. -

Philadelphia Orchestra, Dec 21st, Handel's Messiah... and I believe Sirius XM will be simulcasting/streaming it. I checked, and there's open orchestra seats still available ($120 a pop). Really wanting to attend! -
An earlier version of the Cargo-Je heavy banking hard over, heading out on its way to Old KSC... Over at Old KSC, a Cargo-Je and Albatross2, with a few scientists and their buggies, doing what scientists do.

It's really not all that bad. You just select the text tool, drag and draw a text box, make your settings (font, size, etc), type in the text. You can move the box around with the move tool. You can also do strange stuff (rotate, invert, change perspective, etc) by applying any of the other tools to the box. Remember that the text is a separate layer, so when you're done and ready to set it in stone, you merge the layer down. Done. Gimp has some great tutorials if you seek them out. @Tw1 Remind me NOT to go camping in your forest.

Finally successfully flew a Cargo-Je to Old KSC, to a waiting Albatross2 with 4 scientists aboard in need of rovers. I still have to work a little on securing the rovers better; I think I have them battened down too tightly, as when I undock them the whole assembly springs up like a grasshopper. I lost one rover in the process. Another had four flat tires, but hey, Kerbals know how to fix flats... especially if they want to ride around in a rover bad enough. So the scientists are cruising around doing science things that scientists do. The only really useful work being done however, was the sending of one of them some 10km out to plant a new marker flag atop a mountain that lines up with the runway. That should make my life easier... er... I mean, make their little lives easier. Picture(s) will follow. It's late and I'm tired.

Old KSC is just jinxed for me... 3 cargo planes sent out there, all 3 crashed. Part of the problem was the wings going poof!, which was a heating problem... 2 of the planes succumbed to this less than 100km out from the runway. The 3rd just crashed outright on the runway... my fault, coming in too fast, late in the flair. The cargo bays survived however, at least until I tried to release the cargo - 4 little rover buggies - and then the whole mess went kerboom! Kinda disappointing, especially being the flights take a while at around 300m/s. I'm not giving up though... I'll try again tomorrow.
-
Where is this you speak of ???
-
Sure! First, I erred, it was the 'Pike' which toasted itself in flight at 1365.6m/s (wings burnt up)... but I was still able to land, no wings. And this is the Albatross2... This is my fleet, if you want to call it that. (left to right) Cargo-Je, Cargo-J, Albatross2, Albatross, and Passenger (front center)...

totm aug 2023 What funny/interesting thing happened in your life today?

We're getting our first snow of the season. -
yup...

Gravity or not, pretty amazing job. Over in my world: I've nixed the idea of setting up runway lights at Old KSC. The lighting options just aren't powerful enough, can't see squat until you're right on top of it. I've left the runway marker flags up however, as they can be clearly seen in the dark from 100km away. The Albatross2 jet I built makes the trip in about 15 minutes, and carries fuel enough for a round-trip. Cruising at 1400m/s is an issue though, as heating burned the wings off... and I discovered flameout was at a little over 26km. Less than 30 days to go before all my KAC alarms kick in; Duna, Jool, Eeloo.

I just about fell off my chair laughing when I read that. +2 points

For me, in earlier versions the beast would occasionally raise its gnarly head... but as time has gone on, I don't see it much anymore. Maybe it's growing old, and tired?

That thing looks like something out of Mad Max!
