Today, Sunday, January 7th, is Orthodox Christmas... So to all my Georgian friends, შობას გილოცავთ! ... and other eastern European friends, счастливого Рождества!

Day 2 after the storm. We're at 10F, with a wind chill of -9... and that's midday with the sun out. We're at 1ft of snow (officially), with drifts 2ft to 3ft. Snowplow came through yesterday evening and left a ridge along my front lawn that's about 6ft high. I'm at the back end of the block, so they push all the snow down the block up onto my lawn (or most of it anyway). Thankfully, our skilled plow driver turns and cuts the blade so as not to leave the ridge across my driveway entrance.

I did... kinda... sorta. It was the intention anyway. I pointed the ship retrograde, fired the engines and bailed. That means of course that the engines continued to burn up until it was 2.5km away, and then it went on rails (no more burn). Its orbit didn't change much, just enough to get it out of the area where I was working. It will have to be dealt with in the future. More to the story... Duna-Lander-1 crashed on landing. It was coming in too hot, landed hard, destroyed its engines and tipped over. Its two occupants are fine, using the craft as a refuge hangout until a rescue mission comes for them... it still has working solar panels, battery, and antenna (for tv). The Duna-Lander-1's transport is on its way back home... so far, so good. There's a rover on the way; I'm going to alter its plans and have it land by the Lander-1's crew. It should give them something to do (rover around) until the rescue ship arrives.

The things we learn of and find out at 1am in the morning ... yea, those phone calls. RIP Harry... you were way, way too young.

Crap. I've got two landers (and their transport vehicles) orbiting Duna. I was just about to land one of them, the Phoenix. I did a burn to lower its orbit. I switched to the map for a moment... just for a moment..... and suddenly I hear CRASHBOOM!, and I notice the navball is spinning wildly. The Phoenix slammed into its transport. How the hell?!?!?? I had backed away from it after undocking, and I always try to undock and back away towards the planet. I took out all of the engines on the transport, the radiators, and all but one solar panel. The transport is now useless, a drifting hulk. The Phoenix lander lost all but one solar panel and its docking port... it still flies, but I'm not going to risk landing it. The pilot, 'Garble', idiot that he is, doesn't know any different... his only hope at this point is a rendezvous with the Duna-Lander-1 transport ship, and hope there's room for him to hitch a ride home. This is the second time since I started playing this game that I've had a ship collide with another out there in the vast emptiness of space. Edit: Well I was able to get the Phoenix over to the Duna-Lander-1 transport, and Garble now has a ride home. He's hanging out with the others, snarfing their snacks, waiting to see if the Duna-Lander-1 makes a successful touch-down. I made Garble work for his screw-up however; I needed to get the Phoenix lander out of the way, so not to clutter up this orbit. So, pointing the lander off in an 'outta here' direction, I tapped the throttle a little and then quickly sent Garble on EVA. That was almost a mistake, but it worked out ok. It's a maneuver I'm not looking forward to making again... nor would I recommend it to any but the really bold..... just so much to potentially go wrong.

Oh I smell Kraken bait for sure.

That plane looks like it should reach either pole. Do you have fuel in both sets of wings? And then she said "Tell me I look fat in a spacesuit again and you'll lose the other eye." And in my world: The SCANsat-Eeloo probe I thought I'd lost, wasn't lost... I had merely neglected to set a KAC alarm for its SOI change. I caught it before it bypassed Eeloo and put it into a polar orbit and began scanning. I finished scanning all of Eeloo, and just in time. The Eeloo-Explorer arrived, and was inserted into orbit. That happened yesterday. Today, with much anticipation, I put a manned lander down on Eeloo... my first time ever. All went well. I hopped three biomes and collected some science, even planted a flag. The next landing will be to seek out and find Eeloo's sole anomaly... maybe tomorrow. I'm a happy ferret.

Skunks can get used to humans if treated consistently right, like most wild animals. Skunks are related to Ferrets (Polecat), and Mink, Weasels, and Otters... they're all cousins, scent-sac bearers. I came real close to taking in a descented baby Skunk needing a home one time, but my busyness was at maximum capacity for its quarters already. I've been getting NWS alerts on my phone starting early this evening about this.

Hummm... this makes getting to Minmus a lot easier!

??? With Kerbin at the 3o'clock position: Moho 11 Eve 5 Duna 1:30 Dres 12:01 Jool 11:58 Eeloo 11 Forget where I found that. Works for me. I just roll the view around while in map mode, and like @Johnny Wishbone, eyeball it.

Happy New Year to you too... and welcome to the forums.

Still cold here... teens during the day, single digit at night. With last night's full moon, ALL the critters were out despite the temps... including a Red Fox who took the soup bone I tossed. Speaking of critters, I recently learned that the Skunk used to be commonly referred to as a "Wood Pussy" back in the 1920's. My new name for them. Here kitty kitty kitty!

I'd have failed her butt already, on principal alone.

I got a Skype party call yesterday from some friends and family in the Republic of Georgia at the stroke of their midnight... all of Tbilisi were out in the streets, or on their balconies, or roof-tops, shooting off fireworks - the whole city was lit up! It was an awesome sight. https://youtu.be/hXjhC9TJ2r8 https://youtu.be/tzwzkUJc7pI

Cool..... literally. We've got snow, a dusting, and it's still here. Currently 16°F, sunny, but 13mph breeze has it feeling like 2°F .

Indeed, Happy New Year!

So I built a Centrifuge. The first few tests, extreme Kerbal spaghettification. They would ooze through the cracks of the box I built, all stringy, and get hurled into nonexistence. When I switched to a tube, they just passed through the tube wall as a brown ionized cloud - going poof! I have no idea of the G-forces, the G-meter dosn't seem to register anything. ...and now I'll have to come back and edit to post images, because the game just crashed hard. Edit: Extreme Kerbal spaghettification, not even 1/3 throttle.

I was thinking the same thing. LOLZ! Should be able to do that right on the launchpad.

Where did my probe go?
LordFerret replied to Michel Bartolone's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
I believe your problem is that your 'relay station' is lacking a probe core. Without a probe core, your dropped cargo is deemed debris after you leave it... as in moving beyond 2.5km of it. If you go back into the Tracking Station and view debris, I'm pretty sure you'll find it's still there. -
Been quite nippy here lately. You'd think people have never been in cold weather before listening to the news... sensationalism. Currently 23°F , but 19mph winds have it feeling like 8°F. We're to get snow tonight/tomorrow. Yay!

For ages and ages I used to FS (Microsoft FlightSim) with keyboard only. I still have nightmares about it. As of today, we're still waiting to see if Emirates signs the deal. If they don't, Airbus will likely phase it out - and quickly. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-airbus-a380/airbus-ready-to-phase-out-a380-if-fails-to-win-emirates-deal-sources-idUSKBN1EL11L

Edited: I really hate when this happens. The first link I posted, the recording was missing the first 6 Sonatas. Sorry, but still nice. Go with the 2nd link below it. Paganini; Not just violin. https://youtu.be/JVbA70FCpgA My Giannini up in the attic is feeling very lonely and dejected right now.
