Today I built and sent a SCANsat probe out towards Jool, realizing out past Minmus that I'd forgotten antennas. Blithering idiot I am. Tomorrow's another day.

They all look so yummy! Sour indeed!

Likewise, about the age of 10; Which was when my cousin and I discovered this. A single game literally took weeks to play. 8-Track tapes? lol Cartoons; I've mentioned this before here in the forums. I've recently found something 'new' (for me), fresh, clean, funny ... worthy. Like this latest episode, hilarious. Ah! Give me a moment, I was just getting to that. This was actually my first computer, hooked via acoustic coupler (300 baud) to an HP-1000 on timeshare. Yes yes yes... being able to whistle at just the right pitch to initiate loopback made you 'cool' in the right circles. lol

Primarily an American and Canadian holiday, nothing says it can't be shared around the world... so a happy and blessed Thanksgiving to you all. Enjoy the day and pass your blessings forward.

Never underestimate the power of ignorant people in large numbers.

While I keep debris at the default 250, because it's fun to have some junk floating around out there; Grounding probes is something I always do. If the probe has enough fuel to get home, it burns up in atmosphere. Otherwise, I'll use what fuel is left to deorbit whatever body and then burn down into it - pick up as much velocity as possible before impact. That usually assures no debris left over.

Currently it's 5817kb.

I rely heavily on SCANsat; I won't land on a foreign body without scanning it first. I find it invaluable for exploration and essential for trip planning. One thing I would like to see, is a button which overlays and indicates the day and night terminator on the big map... it doesn't have to be fancy or complicated, maybe something simple similar to this. I would find it a big help to be able to glance at the big map and know if I can begin planning my descent burns. I guess you can consider this a feature request. lol

Picturing the one without an antenna sending morse code to the other with a flashlight. WHAT IS WITH IMGUR ?!? Damn!!! This page took f.o.r.e.v.e.r to load ... all because of waiting on Imgur to load images. They're really sucking lately. Anyone else notice this??? You've created Kerbal Model Rocketry!

That's a good idea, but I'm not wanting to use any cheats as such, plus I don't have any clipped parts. I try very hard to make sure I don't clip parts when building. I've since redesigned the craft slightly, and I think I might have the problem solved. I'll find out later today. Unless I'm totally misunderstanding how antennas work and/or your post; Every capsule / probe core has an antenna built in (check the part descriptions!), but it's very low powered, like 5k. The red lines in your image are showing the Comms on Kerbin being able to reach your capsule, but the capsule can't reach back. The yellow line from the capsule going to the station is showing limited connection... likely because the station has antenna power enough but the capsule doesn't, providing a poor connection (but a connection none-the-less). I believe as the distance between that capsule and the station increases, that yellow line will turn red, or disappear altogether.

Had a hard time getting images uploaded to Imgur... apparently they're having problems(?), or maybe it's just me. Anyway..... I had an interesting image of a thermal overlay on a ship containing the PPD-10 Hitchhiker Storage Container, which was devoid of any thermal indication. You need to see the image. The other issue is a new ship I'd built; SunDiver1. An Ion ship, after conventional rocket launch, and conventional rocket transport out of Kerbin's SOI, I did about a 4 hour burn this afternoon which brought it's Pe down to under 500m of the sun's surface. I had some other things to do IRL, so I saved the game and exited. When I came back and restarted the game, loading up the save and then switching to SunDiver1, it suddenly after a few brief seconds began to shudder violently, and proceeded to literally shake itself apart, going into a seriously mad wild spin in the process, eventually exploding. There is nothing left of it but small debris. I have no idea of the phantom physics involved in this one, the ship flew fine for over 4 hours. I'm hoping the Kraken isn't out and about, flying around the inner planets, because I've two other ships out there ... one heading to Moho, the other Eve.

No. Mine was an original Pong, first one (forget the manufacturer). All it played was Pong.
-
Yep... he died last year. My first 'video game'...
-
Put your phone away. You'll drain your battery and you might need it later. Plus, you don't want to miss your flight.

Welcome to the forums @hazeuk. I think, in the future, you'll want to avoid necro-posting ... this topic is so old it has dust and crust on it. Feel free to start a new thread on the subject if you wish.

Good of you to point that out. Despite the fact I use the WayBack often for many things, I usually forget to suggest it. Nice of you to keep this rolling.
-
I watched this (Soyuz, Expedition 50/51) live yesterday. I was quite surprised to see not a single post here in the KSP forums about it.
-
Mine got severed and retracted too far... waited too long. You learn to live with it. Or, you notice they're all starting to die off as the years roll by... same with musicians.

TVs... to watch them, first you had to get up out of your chair and go turn them on. Then, you had to wait for it to warm up, all those tubes inside. When it finally came to life, your screen was B&W. Then, you had to turn a dial to check out the various channels to see what was on. Often, selecting a channel, you then had to adjust your rabbit-ear antenna, so the station would come in clearly... and even at that, there was still always snow in the image. I grew up just outside of NYC, so we were lucky, we had (VHF) channels 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, and 13 (PBS), plus a few others (UHF) like 21 (WLIW). The main antenna was atop the Empire State Building... you know, the one King Kong climbed in the original movie. TV began each day around 4am (if I recall correctly), opening from a test pattern to the music of the Star Spangled Banner with an American flag waving on the screen. This was immediately followed by the morning farm report. Yes, a farm report. As a kid, I was fascinated by it, and always woke early to catch the farm report. This was followed by the majority of stations showing the local and world news, and the rest showing kids cartoons.

Sometimes, that in itself is a monumental effort. PS - I'm 60.
-
Damnit... trying to right-click to view the thing. In other news: We're going to Dres. Yes. Yes, we are. (I've also got SCANsat ships on the way to Moho, Eve, and Duna.)
-
If you've got a Kerbal falling a great distance, make sure you land on your head (if at all possible) ... you'll likely survive the fall.
-
I don't use quicksave/recall, at all, ever. I'll revert to the VAB if I'm still on the pad and have forgotten something, but once it's in the air - it either flies, or it doesn't.

Tomorrow night is the 'super moon'. Just like all super moons previously, and all that shall follow, it's quite pretty to look at being so close to Earth... thankfully, no clouds to obscure it for me tonight... hope the same will hold for tomorrow night. Kind of makes me wish I were a wolf, so I could sit there an howl at it. Of course, my neighbors would not appreciate this.
