Umm... wait... Clarke didn't write Hitchhiker's, that was Douglas Adams. Clarke's big one you'd recognize was 2001: A Space Odyssey. But, yes, the story is kind of dark, the book actually somewhat shocking as I recall reading.

One of my favorite books by Arthur C. Clarke is coming to tv apparently, or rather an adaptation of his book that is. The show is a 3-part miniseries starting this December 14th on the SyFy channel. I can't help but have doubts about it, as I don't see how it could compare to the book... but I'll hold them in reserve until seeing it. So, I'm looking forward to this. How about you? Childhood's End - SyFy

Can't help but wonder; Where will the jettisoned propulsion module end up?

Nice! 1980 Lotus Esprit Turbo ... however, maintenance = major pain in the rear.

Does any of you played game titled "Fate of the World"?
LordFerret replied to Pawelk198604's topic in The Lounge
Nope, but I do play a game called Contract Wars... in which, I imagine my opponents to be 'warmers'. -
Can't you just copy/paste a link? Or do I take it this kind of option would create an actual post on your Facebook page? It's Adblock Plus. It allows you to disable 'social media' buttons, among other things.

Hummm... I'm not seeing any share buttons, but then again I've got a browser addon which removes all those buttons. I guess it's working lol.

I've noticed while logging in "connect.facebook.com" appears in the activity bar - among other sites, like alpha.renegrade.net ... why? I've not looked into the other sites the forum is linking(?)/connecting to, which I will (later), but why Facebook? I want nothing to do with Facebook.

I can relate to that... it's not so much the font, it's the stark white background. It is very stressful on the eyes (these old eyes anyway).

What gives me the impression is the word and opinion of the business world - aka business news. Musk's ventures are failing, several of them, and along with that failure goes his fortune. Just about every venture he's currently got his fingers in is in the Red, not the Black. The only saving grace he's got at this moment is his new battery ... if it takes off he'll fair better. What Musk says himself is one thing. You have to watch the money. Watch what his investors are doing... or rather, where they're going. Exactly.

I checked this thread to see what was new, half expecting to find a screenie of the old forums main page posted. (giggle giggle)

My multi-line copypasta was a mistake... I wasn't thinking... I should have sent it in a private message. I was only trying to help someone, and got kicked for it. As for standard etiquette, no matter what you post in a banner or logon screen, it requires people to read it - and so it seems, most don't... or just don't care.

Sure you can... that's what all the toggle switches on the front panel are for.

Positive changes from the forum update
LordFerret replied to Kerbas_ad_astra's topic in Kerbal Network
How hard can forum management be anyway? You would be surprised. At this point (not really liking a lot of aspects about this update), the thing I appreciate most is my session no longer times-out. That was a major pain and problem for me in the past... nothing worse than writing up a post, adding images, etc, hitting submit only to find my session is no longer logged in. -
Ahhh... I did not know this!

@GoSlash27 Say, while looking through the IPS site (our forums software), I noticed this: I don't know if this is active.
-
I see this thread being locked before the day is done. 3 words - not gonna happen

Well I'm glad things are working 'better', but I have to agree with many - I don't care for this change. It's going to take a while to get used to it. I don't see some of the new functionality a good trade-off with what was lost.
-
Oh my Flymetothemun - the dreaded triple post lol! Weird goings on. Yes, the line spacing is 'odd'. It's kind of set like Windows' Wordpad default... press Enter and it skips like 1.5 lines. If you press Shift+Enter, it acts like a normal 'carriage return' ... and if not, hit Backspace once and you'll see it does. Odd stuff. It's this editor.

I figured as much. I'm doubting it's because the back-end's IP is changing, so maybe a bet on zone provisioning? Hope you guys get it worked out. While I'm not exactly thrilled about the new look, it's just a matter of time before I get used to it. One thing I must say I really do like is that the session no longer times-out ... that used to be a major problem for me, writing up a post, hitting submit, then finding out my session had timed out.
-
What do you mean by 'indents'? Are you talking about line spacing?
-
That's a good idea and might solve the issue GoSlash27 was pointing out. However, something tells me this 'button' is not just a simple add-in to the forums software, and changing it will likely require going in and editing the IPS code ... such as I once had to do with phpBB, which was possible but a serious pain in the neck to do.
