You'll need to install the Steam For Linux Client. Beyond that... Supported games: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8495-OKZC-0159 - - - Updated - - - You might also want to make note of this... https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1504-QHXN-8366&l=english

When you tried to use what? The Driver Updater found in your Control Panel? If that's the case (it could be corrupted), download a new version of the Driver Updater, install it, and try again. Did you check the PRAM battery yet as GDJ suggested?

Could someone help identify what this kit is used for?
LordFerret replied to RickyJogging's topic in Science & Spaceflight
It's a tool used to make sample pellets of solids for testing using spectrographic analysis equipment. I'm tempted to ask - where did he steal it from. lol - - - Updated - - - It's made by these guys... you might find pricing on their site under 'Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry', the 'Sample Preparation' section. http://www.thermoscientific.com/en/home.html -

If not... This is the link for the utility, I don't see anything indicating you have to purchase the software... http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?iid=dc_iduu

Smarter than a monkey (about science) test.
LordFerret replied to PB666's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I'll disagree with that. Being a child of the late 50's and early 60's, you were more aware of those afflicted by polio of the previous generation... and Salk's vaccine was a godsend, the novelty you speak of was entirely of the media's doing*. For that matter, Sabin's name is/was just as recognizable. Now, if you want to talk science focused on a personality, take a look at Dr. Spock and his baby book. * https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonas_Salk#Celebrity_versus_privacy -
Sorry to hear that you quit. Rather than quit, maybe you should have told the parents and scout leaders to 'back off' ... letting them know this is your gig. Encouragement is good, but insistent nagging and prodding is not encouragement - it's annoyance and frustrating.
-
I would still check the drivers. Visit the OEM's site.

Smarter than a monkey (about science) test.
LordFerret replied to PB666's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Considering Polio is making a comeback worldwide, I would think knowledge of the vaccine creator to be more than just 'name recognition'... or the fact the vaccine is still viable. 12 of 12. -
Did you recently upgrade to Win10? You might want to take a look at this.

Enceladus has a global underground ocean!
LordFerret replied to Frida Space's topic in Science & Spaceflight
With the ice crust estimated to be 30 to 40 kilometers thick, we won't be visiting that ocean anytime soon. Very interesting though. -
"Ever wonder what Uranus tastes like?" That's one hell of a selling point. Chocolate planets are cool, but..... - - - Updated - - - Just noticed the 'Diesel Powered MechWarrior' for 1.35 million dollars.

For those of you who are interested, this was just pointed out to me this evening by a family member (an academician)... [h=1]Analyzing the Universe Rutgers University with Terry A. Matilsky[/h] This is a completely free online course... no textbooks required. If you want an actual certificate upon completion, it will cost you something like $50 US. No college credits given... but a wealth of cosmic knowledge the personal reward. https://www.class-central.com/mooc/709/coursera-analyzing-the-universe

!!! I do believe that could be it. Reading this about it, I'd say yes. The time-frame is certainly right. - - - Updated - - - I could definitely sit through one of your courses/classes! I've made comment in these forums before with regard to such, over Arthur Jensen's "Bias In Mental Testing". A hotly contested piece of work, even today... especially today, although now it's been submerged into obscurity by the so-called 'intelligentsia'. I'll always note to potential readers, that Jensen set out to prove bias in mental testing. Lo and behold his surprise when all his results showed naught. To this day, several books have been written by "authority", such as Gould's, which refute all of Jensen's conclusions. ALL of these books are written and based on "feelings", "hopes", and "desires" ... with absolutely no empirical data to back up the claims. As a matter of fact, no authority, political nor academic have attempted to reproduce Jensen's results ... because they know the truth, and that it's futile ..... they've even stopped collecting fresh data (IQ tests).

That's ok. I tried asking it something in Russian, and it answered me (unintelligibly) in French.
-
That doesn't excuse what's going on in colleges across the US. The agenda and revisionist history a large majority of them teach, I wonder how they got their certifications in the first place. It's all a very good reason to carefully select a 'non-polluted' college/university when looking to begin building ones future. Wow, I managed to get that out without being overtly political.
-
Ok. Well, that went right over my head lol. Good point.
-
Umm... you can use that sleep command in just about any distro of Linux (or Unix).
-
Speaking of Debian, "Jessie" was released 9 days ago.
-
By 'commercial use' they mean using it in a business setting or any venture where you're making money through its use. Linux Mint is no different than attempting any other distro; And that's likely why your teacher wants you to use VMWare, because if you break your Linux install it won't trash your Windows OS. VMWare provides a 'protected' environment. There are a number of people trying out Win10 with it.
-
Are they expecting you to buy VMWare? It has a 30 day free trial, if that helps any. Go with Linux Mint, easy install. What's wrong with dual-boot?
-
General purpose? Mint. Need to make something specific (custom) for 'you'? Debian.
-
You couldn't be more wrong, and history proves it... go study it some.

Here's an idea for ya... an EPA mod, with a UN addon, which will bring KSP to a complete halt.
