OpenShot seems to work fine for me for now. I don't have any complex projects, I mostly just throw few clips together, cut them if needed and add transitions between. It hasn't frozen or crashed as of yet. As for Vegas Movie Studio, I have downloaded the trial version just to see what it is like. I will try it and if I like it I will probably buy it. It is currently at 39.99 EUR and I when I have registered for Movie Studio Trial I have received a 10 EUR discount coupon that is valid through February 1st 2019. And honestly, 29.99 EUR doesn't look as a bad value, especially if I really start doing this more and more

Thanks for all of your comments. While I was at work today I got some time to browse the web so I looked for some free alternatives. I think I will settle for now on OpenShot Video Editor. It is free, it seems simple to use for the things I want to do, it can export 1080p60FPS .mp4 file and when I tried to export 2 clips with which I had problems in Resolve it exported them without any stuttering. Even the file size was great, about 10-20MB smaller than with Reslove for the same clips.

Those are not good news for me. Every video editing tool that I came by costs about 1/3 of my monthly salary and since I don't really want to make a career out of video editing or Youtube it doesn't look like a good investment of my money. Oh well, I'll try to look for some other free software then. Thanks

I have tried few different formats and codecs but results are always the same. I am also trying to get as small file as possible at the end because of my poor internet connection (10Mbps download/ 0.6-0.8Mbps upload). I have tried even some lossless formats but it was just the same. Only difference being that in rendered video stuttering in audio started about 2-3 seconds later (that is in a 2 minute clip) while file size was about 100 times larger. The thing is, I have a suspicion that it is not problem with final render but with how Resolve works with my source clips. Even when I just load one clip into the timeline and try to preview it inside Resolve it is all choppy. Video plays fine, but audio is just not working

Hi everyone. Since there are lots of you guys who make videos for Youtube I thought I would ask here and maybe someone could help me with my problem. Basically, I have started recording some clips of me playing, for now mostly racing games, but I am having problems when I try to edit and render them. My workflow for now is like this: I record with GeForce Experience in my screens native 1440p resolution and 60FPS. Then I import those clips into DaVinci Resolve 15 where I edit them a bit and then render in 1080p 60FPS for upload to Youtube. However, I have a problem with audio in that audio starts to get more and more choppy as my video progresses. I have even tried putting only one clip inside the project, and it had choppy audio in preview and after rendering, while source clip has audio working just fine. I have "borrowed" a copy of Vegas Pro just to see if it was software problem and videos rendered in Vegas PRO come out as they should without any stutter in the audio. But I don't want to use illegally obtained software and I don't want to pay those amounts of money for a software that I may not want to use in the future. Resolve 15 is free and that is why it is the best option for me at the time. Just as a note, I don't think that my PC is not good enough. I have Ryzen 5 1600, 16GB of RAM, GTX 1070 Ti and plenty of HDD space to work with.

totm dec 2019 Russian Launch and Mission Thread
Cuky replied to tater's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Progress launch that was planned for today was scrubbed with new date confirmation still pending https://blogs.nasa.gov/spacestation/2018/02/11/russian-cargo-mission-to-station-is-scrubbed/ -
Considering how their luck was and how SpaceX wants to wait until they are sure that everything is OK with the vehicle you might still have the launch closer to your birthday than me
-
so if they don't delay FH launch it will go up on my birthday...I like that present a lot

fins are probably to help keep the vehicle stable during launch and especially during abort using LES. Bonus is that trunk looks less boring with them

Well, it happens to me too...it really is easy to forget that there are places where things are different But in all honesty, hardware, especially powerful hardware is really hard to get here in Croatia. Say GPUs...currently it is almost impossible to find anything faster than a GTX 1070...some 1080s, usually founders edition, pop out here and there but are sold out really fast. Of course some shops allow you to order cards they don't have on them, but you have to wait for at least few weeks
-
well the thing is good hardware is quite hard to find here in Croatia...shops tend to get very small quantities which are sold quickly and then you have to wait until (and sometimes if) they get a new bunch. I will be buying parts that can last longer (performance wise) like case, SSD and HDD, fans, etc...I will then buy RAM, CPU and MBO together so that if something out of those 3 most expensive parts comes DOA I can RMA it.
-
I think I am leaning a bit more towards AMD than Intel at this moment. I still see that there are some problems with memory copatibility and MBO-s (well, the one that I am interested in anyways) have some teething problems, but as I said I will be buying everything else with MBO and CPU at the end (that will be somewhere in october I hope) those might be resolved before then. And just a prise for Arctic Cooling...less then a week since I requested AM4 retention ring for Liquid Freezer 240 it arrived at my door.
-
@snkiz Thanks for your opinion. I will probably wait a bit on that decision though because I don't want to lock myself into one or the other only to change my mind halfway through the build. I will buy everything else and then choose and buy MBO and CPU at the end.
-
I have a bit of dillema going on here. Started (finally) buying parts for my new build and I can't make up my mind on two of the most important components: CPU and MBO. I am undecided between ASUS ROG Maximus IX Code + i7 7700K on one side and ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero + Ryzen 7 1700 on the other side. Other components are: CPU Cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer 240 AIO cooler (I have requested free AM4 bracket from Arctic just in case and they sent it today) RAM: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 2x8GB 3000MHz M.2 SSD: SAMSUNG PM961 128GB M.2 2280 (to be used for Windows and apps) SSD: SAMSUNG 850 EVO 250GB or Kingston Hyperx Savage 240GB (whichever is available in shop when I will be buying them; to be used for games I play the most) HDD: My current few months old Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm (for other games) + Seagate Barracuda 3TB 7200rpm (for downloads and temporary backup) Case: Cooler Master Mastercase Pro 6 PSU: Seasonic Prime 850W Titanium Graphics Card: I will continue to use my MSI GeForce GTX 950 2GB OC for about 2-3 months and then buy either GTX 1080Ti or 20-series card if they are released by that time. Monitor: AOC Agon AG271QG 27", though I am not fully set on it yet. If I go with Ryzen CPU and Crosshair MBO it comes at about 90-100€ cheaper. The problem is, I haven't really ever used anything based on AMD stuff (other than graphics cards) so I am not as comfortable with that platform as I am with Intel...then again, I am aware of bad thermals from Kaby Lake CPUs due to bad TIM betwen CPU die and heatspreader and I am not comfortable with de-lidding my CPU even though it can make it run 20-30°C cooler. I will use this PC mostly for gaming (KSP of course, F1, some other racing and sports games, as well as simulations) and maybe, just maybe for some light video editing. I might also come back to programing a bit.

Yeah, I haven't used the mod since upgrading to 1.2 so I forgot that it was 9 and 1 instead of 9 and 3. Thanks for your reply though
-
Looking good. Just on the F9 engines: will they be able to switch between 9-3-1 engine modes or just between 9 and 3?

Wasn't Dragon designed to be able to carry both cargo and crew before they decided to leave Dragon as a cargo only and instead develop Dragon v2? I mean, on SpaceX's youtube page some of the first animations regarding crew transport to the ISS are shown with Dragon docking to the ISS without use of canadarm Even the description of that video states: Now, if Dragon was designed as cargo craft only I am sure it could have been much more optimized for that purpose.

Looking good at the pad

I found this picture posted on unofficial SpaceX facebook group, originally posted by reddit user codercotton I have quoted the original description, but I the date is obviously a typo

LC-39A is being modified by SpaceX, not LC-29A. At least that is what NASA site says https://www.nasa.gov/image-feature/launch-pad-39a-modifications-for-spacex-launches

thanks for your time, but thing is I am working on a budget of around 420-430$ for PC + monitor. I looked at G4560 at the get go, but there are only i3, i5 and i7 CPUs from Kaby Lake lineup available here in Croatia. G4400 is the newest Pentium I could find, so I matched it with a board and RAM that is available, yet doesn't get mi over the budget. I have also recommended SSD drive to my friends father, but he has not given me his definitive answer on that one yet. GPU is not going to be installed in that PC any time soon as the integrated one is more then enough for what this PC will be used for. This is the pcpartpicker list https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kTD8zM Note that he plans to reuse his current HDD, but I plan to install the 230GB one I have in my spare parts which I took from my PC when I bought a 1TB drive for myself because I suspect his HDD is with that huge IDE cable, while my 230GB one is with SATA connection. I couldn't find the case I will build it in on pcpartpicker so here is a link to manufacturer's site http://www.lc-power.com/en/product/gehaeuse/micro-atx/2009mb/ And I couldn't even begin to explain how different prices for hardware are here in Croatia, mostly to do with huge taxes. For example while looking for parts for my new PC I looked into GTX 1060 for a GPU. Here is an example: GeForce GTX 1060 Gaming X 6GB from MSI is currently priced at 276,99$ on Amazon. Here in Croatia the cheapest one is (with exchage rates as they are today) 390$ and that is while it is on sale at the moment. Normal price for that same card is 436$

That is correct @Elthy I am not building this PC for gaming and it is not for me. As for components, I managed to find some newer hardware: CPU: Intel Pentium G4400 (instead of G3260) MBO: Asrock H110M-DGS (instead of Asus H81M-R) RAM: Kingston DDR4 4GB (instead of Kingston DDR3 4GB) PSU: Thermaltake Litepower 350W (instead of ANTEC VP400PC EC, 400W) Price went up by about 7-8€ which I think is pretty good considering better performance of G4400 over G3260
