  1. my game is full of different fuel tanks so I don't need them. But those RCS thrusters are awesome. That is some variety there and I will definitely find some use for them
  2. Today I have launched upgraded version of Duna Transfer Craft, simply named DTCv2. Instead of Hitchiker compartment there is now inflatable habitat. Fuel will be brought up by 2 cargo ship launches. Later Valentina launched on new craft on her way to the Minmus to plant a flag there as wanted by contractors. Her 2nd objective was to complete a contract of rescuing Rany Kerman from Mun's orbit. Everything went smoothly until it was time to land. Instead of throttling up I accidentally staged and so she lost her propulsion module. I took her on EVA and landed gently on Minmus, but she had no way to return home. In spite of that she completed her duties and planted a flag. Immediately I launched that same craft, this time it was Jedrod in command. He landed some 15km away from Valentina and she used her EVE pack to fly to Jedrod. They both took off, rescued Rany from Mun's orbit and returned home safely. Few pics from those 2 trips in spoiler: In other news, I have canceled all long term projects with immediate effect. Missions that are in progress, like surface base to Eve, probe to Jool and crew that waits at Duna to return will still continue, as well as 2nd crew to Duna that should be back home before probe reaches Jool. After I finish those missions I won't have active crafts with FTP mod parts so it will be safe for me to upgrade to new version. I will also not have any crew in flight so I will install TAC LS mod. While waiting I will still try and complete truss segment of my station.
  3. Hi Beale. Haven't been using your mod for some time due to memory constraints, but now that I upgraded that part of my PC I want to return to Tantares parts. I have a question though: is release of new version near? If it is then I will wait a bit more so that I can start clean with tantares parts without any fear that some of my crafts could be broken when updating.
  4. Today I got bored of launching station parts while waiting for probes to arrive to their destinations and transfer window from Duna to Kerbin to open so I went on and took a contract to test ion engine from Mk2 Expansion mod in flight over Kerbin. It took me some 2-3 hours to get a plane which did not spin whenever I touch controls at high altitude and speed, but I managed it. This is that drone plane on its way back after successful test of ion engine
  5. Last bit from me today. I have launched root part of power truss part on my station Also I have started doing some tests on possible design of 2nd part of that truss, but I will probably wait until I unlock larger solar arrays
  6. Today I have done few things: 1. Played KSP for the first time since upgradin my RAM. It was pleasant surprise of how nicer it ran. On that note, I have also ordered a used Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 CPU to upgrade from my Core 2 Duo E6300 on which I expect to gain a bit more performance. 2. I have launched yet another module on my station. It is Expansion Core module on which command center and solar trusses will be docked. (to the right on the picture) 3. I have again launched surface base to Eve, same design as previous one that was eaten by Kraken half way through to Eve
  7. Haven't done much today. Just downloaded few of the mods that I had been putting aside due to my RAM limit (I had 2GB, now upgraded to 8GB). Those are mostly parts mods, like SDHI Service Module, FASA Launch Clamps, Habitat pack, Stockalike Station Parts Expansion and Infernal Robotics. Now I am off to work
  8. I have completed contract that asked me to build a Station in Kerbins orbit. After core module that was launched yesterday, today I launched a permanent science module that docked on core's rear and cargo vehicle carrying 2000 units of LF that was docked on bottom docking port. Cargo vehicle will stay there for just a short period and station will receive more modules later.
  9. Today I did 2 things: 1. I have finally sent Jool-1 mission on its way. It should be smooth sailing frome here on 2. I have launched core module of a station at Kerbin that I got contract for One of solar panels did not deploy, as it reports that it can't be deployed while stowed, though fairings are clearly gone (I am using procedural fairings). For roleplaying purpose, I am pretending that G-Force was too high during launch and that it got damaged. I have nothing to worry though, as large solar trusses are planned for this station.
  10. I currently have 2GB. Though I have ordered 8GB (max. my MBO supports) and shall get them some time next week
  11. I managed to recover my trio from Ike's surface (Jeb, Bill and one white suit scientist) but in the process their craft has lost docking port with which they were supposed to dock to transfer vehicle. As without that docking port safe continuation of mission is impossible they all abandoned their craft and took shelter in crew cabin on transfer vehicle together with 2046,3 science they managed to collect until now. They have abandoned Duna landing and are now waiting for transfer window back to Kerbin. New crew will launch on the way to Duna in craft of same design as this one 20 days before they start their journey back to Kerbin. That 2nd crew won't go to Ike, they will just land on Duna, do what contract wants them to do and return home. Also, I have launched a probe which will be the furthest craft I have ever sent with destination at Jool. I based it loosely on Juno probe. On pictures below you can see transfer craft in which crew is waiting to return home from Duna, deployment test of Jool-1 on launch pad and launch of Jool-1
  12. Finally my first brave crew outside Kerbine SOI reached its destination: Duna. They achieved orbit around Duna (completing 5-crew station contract) and did some science in space low and high above Duna. Next stop is orbit around Ike (again completing 5-crew station around Ike) and then Ike's surface. After they complete all their science contract goals at Ike they will return at Duna to land and plant a flag there. EDIT: Oh for Kraken's sake....trio managed to land on Ike, but their craft toppled down and now they can't leave. Seems they will have to wait for rescue mission. I will still try though, when I open service bay its doors do kick the craft up a bit, if I manage to point the top of the craft in right way and light the engine I may save them.
  13. I have launched 3 Kerbals to Duna Transfer Vehicle and they went on their way to Duna. It is my first ever craft powered by nuclear engines and those are also my first ever Kerbals to be sent out of Kerbin SOI. After their transfer burn was completed there came time for Eve surface station to enter Eve's SOI. But when I switched to the craft Kraken decided that it had different plans today and deleted my craft. Luckly it was unmanned so no lives have been lost.
  14. I brought up LF for DTV (Duna Transfer Vehicle) with 2 Ghidorah 9 launches. Now I need to wait 80-90 Kerbin days when transfer window to Duna opens to launch crew up to the DTV.
  15. I had up until now 4 launches with crewed Rodan capsule on Ghidorah 9 rocket and all were successful. Nice and easy rocket to fly and Rodan is really becoming my workhorse for LKO and transfer of Kerbals to Mun station. Trunk is feeling a bit lonely though as I don't have anything useful to put inside, but after I return my crew from Duna I plan to install TAC LS mod, so there will be something for trunk section to do, other then provide electrical power. Still haven't tried to recover 1st stage of Ghidorah though, but I expect to try it soon.
  16. Today I launched transfer vehicle which will take my first landing party to Duna. I still have to launch 2-3 refueling ships to fill that big tank with LF for nukes and after that crew of 3 will launch with their craft. That craft will be used to land on Ike, then land on Duna, lift back up into Duna's orbit and dock with transfer vehicle. Of that whole craft everything will be left in orbit, while capsule will travel back to Kerbin together with transfer vehicle.
  17. I was trying to get some courage to send my first ever Kerbals on landing mission out of Kerbin SOI. Up untol now it was just flyby or orbit. I still am not confident enogh in my designs.
  18. Finally got a chance to try Falcon 9 and boy did I love it. I flew it only once with Rodan as payload, but I haven't tried to recover it because I needed all the dV I could spare.
  19. Today for the first time in my year and something career at KSP I have tried to go for Eve...and I failed. Rocket launched perfectly, it went to interplanetary space...and then ran out of power just before correction burn was due. Only pic I have is from before launch, for some reason others weren't saved I don't have a great record for missions outside of Kerbin SOI. 2/2 failed missions to Moho, 1/3 failed to Duna and now 1/1 failed to Eve...all unmanned though.
  20. I went on a lighter side of things today while waiting for transfer windows to Eve and Duna. I have put a small satellite into Mun's orbit and it was launched on this rocket:
  21. Well it is only one station at Duna so they will be safe, I just have to time warp to correct window. I could theoretically just undock them from the station in their return vehicle, but as luck would have it that vehicle also uses one of FT+ tanks Thanks to both of you for quick answers
  22. did I got it correctly from changelog? Station that I have built but has a fuel tank from previous version of this mod will still work? Cause I have some Kerbals there on long mission and I would have to save them first if it won't work.
  23. Looks great so far. I have my Rodan fleet grounded while waiting for new launch vehicle. Just a question: landing legs are part of 1st stage tank or are they separate part?
