  2. The key is to have them fire right before they get into gun range, so the enemy turns, no longer have guns on you, and presents his side profile which is a bigger target.

I don't think you need quite that many, different from radar missiles where several can be in the air at once, once IR missile is fired, the enemy immediately launches a flare which scrambles subsequent IR missile launches, so you're essentially firing them one at a time, so 4 per plane should be enough.
  4. That one doesn't seem to work well anymore, it was optimized for using radar missiles.
  5. @Thor Wotansen I was running on 1.0.0. I ran again and watched closely, seems like the Bear did not lock onto my Squirrel to fire radar missiles, but did fire IR missiles.
  6. The leaderboard planes all seem to have good ECM, where you can't get a lock until you're inside 4km. So I think you should set missiles to fire at shorter ranges.

  8. The large and heavy Bear was no match for the nimble Squirrel, with Squirrel winning 3-0. Also the Bear used medium landing gear the makes the plane jump when the game is loaded, so I only ran one match:
  9. Hey that's odd, after my upgrade my plane isn't radar stealthy anymore, even though it isn't any bigger, weird.
  10. I want to pit it against my rabid squirrel. Where's the file?
  11. Maybe I can withdraw the previous one and have the new plane fight its way up the ladder so the leaderboard won't have two of my planes?

I would like to share a secret to help newcomers with a quality of life thing, In Action Groups, bind your engines, fuel cells, radar and ECM to activate with the SAS action group, that way they start automatically when BDArmory pilot AI activates the plane. This save you the press of the spacebar when you're testing. You can also carry smaller batteries and less fuel because less will be wasted on the ground.
  14. I mean the maximum G setting of 99 and max AoA setting of 179, those are beyond what the game allows you to set in the space plane hanger, did you edit the text file to achieve those settings?
  15. @Earthlinger did you text edit the craft? The AI Pilot's has values impossible to achieve with in game tweakables.

Since aerodynamic forces is applied on the drones' wings the moment the cargo bay opens, point the drones forward, horizontal and down 45 degrees, so that the aerodynamic force on their wings will pull them out of the cargo bay. Although I tried it with the long cargo bay, not sure if it can be done in the short one.
  17. @Eidahlil why does it work when you put "Control from Here" on Action Group 1? Do modular missiles activate Action Group 1 when they are fired? or can you set the action group that get activated somewhere? This is the future and it works, I tried carriers before but couldn't get the drones to recognize the correct orientaion, they rolled in response to pitch control, etc.How did you get it to work? Also, maybe try fewer but more maneuverable drones? What if you ditched the mother and just built a plane that splits into two? a 2-1 advantage is already pretty significant in a gun fight.
  19. Oh man, the F-18's drunken flying made me rofl. It did that for me some times too, but not all the time, don't know what's up with it.

  22. Which plane wins depends alot on whether you're using the newer BDA versions, 1.0.0 and 1.1.0 introduced some very radical balance changes to radar and armor etc. So I am holding off on building actual competitive planes. @exbyde Which BDA version are we using for this one?
