Aww, it's a shame that my favorite gs giant will be the only one without an atmospheric moon. However, it is great to know that such plans are still likely to be implemented for Neidon's system. I would be literally and figuratively 'over the moon' if it was oxygenated or had about 0.5g on the surface but that's just me Good to hear that the wait for Urlum's last moon will not be too long, I hope that whatever Eudae55 is doing in the mean time goes well

I don't know about Kethane, but there is definitely Karbonite. If you ask me it is a superior mod and the developer of Karbonite is working on the new resource system to be released in version 1.0 for KSP so it may be more intuitive. However, if there is Karbonite added to the bodies, there is likely to be Kethane. I will try to check for you though Also, is there any information regarding how much more work in needed to be put into Urlums fourth moon before you think it is presentable? I am interested to know what stage of development it is at but if you would rather not say then no worries

Thanks, just to clarify if anyone's unsure, I am not against changing of the Jool system, but I wouldn't want it happening within this mod. Also, this is unrelated but how is Wal pronounced? I would normally pronounce that word with an 'a' sound like in the word 'pan', but it is obviously named after a walnut so maybe I should pronounce it as 'wall'. Either, way, I like the name for the moon - and the moon itself, for that matter!

Multiplayer should only be added once everything else is absolutely finished and polished up nicely. Obviously, this isn't going to change SQUAD's minds, but I honestly think that there should be one more beta release to add features before 1.0 so they can be fixed and feedback received on those, but that's just me

I've seen a lot of requests for changes to the Jool system and even the inner solar system and I have to say that I do not like the idea. I would like the mod to change thingsbeyond Jool, whilst everything within Jool's orbit, including Jool, remains unchanged. The addition of a comet is fine, but I really do not want to say the Jool system being tampered with. I wouldn't mind at all if there were changes made but released as a separate mod, but just not this one. Also, just as a suggestion, could the moons for Urlum be given higher inclinations? That way it would be easier to see the faint ring system.

I am not so keen on seeing a moon with rings myself. However, a moon with a thin atmosphere would be right up my alley. Something I would like to see, although it is unlikely to happen, is a moon with a thin (half-two thirds that of Dunas) oxygenated atmosphere with surface gravity of about 0.5-0.6G. That would be my ideal place Also Urlum is my favorite gas giant added in this mod so if it were to orbit Urlum I would be literally over the moon. On an unrelated note, CaptRobau and Eudae55, I was just discussing with a friends earlier and we both came to the conclusion that if we could only ever install one mod to KSP, it would definitely be OPM, I really appreciate the work you've done here and there is still much more to come

Again, really fantastic work here, I love the combination of both interesting aspects of Iapetus and Miranda that make up Wal - it seems truly unique! It's good to see that you are also refraining from releasing the fourth moon to improvements quality. These three seem incredibly detailed and would gladly wait longer to have a nicely rounded system! (Hopefully it will have some sort of atmosphere?)

Haha, don't worry, I know. Obviously, since current stock KSP doesn't implement G-Force damage, the G experienced is not what is causing the parts to break up. However, the part flexing, which is, as you said, what caused the breaking, is due to the immense amounts of drag acting on the parts.
-
I've been experimenting with the 'interesting' drag model in KSP by smashing rockets into the atmosphere at up to 22,000 m/s! In version 0.10 of KSP, the atmosphere stopped suddenly at 34.5km above Kerbins surface. At high speeds, the atmosphere acted as a brick wall, tearing rockets apart in crazy, glitchy explosions! I've been playing around with this and at one point, my poor kerbalnauts were subjected to 411.5G!!

I'm planning on performing a Tekto return mission in an SSTO and I know your struggle. Tektos atmosphere extendes so far up that your engines need to fire for ages... Still, I think I can get back to Kerbin using a slate gravity assist. I will be making a video about it considering getting an SSTO that far is somewhat of an achievement
-
Finally, I have made some progress on a ludicrously difficult mission I have been working on. I can not upload pictures at the moment but the whole thing is being recorded an will end up as a brief 8-9 minute video. Essentially, I take an SSTO to Tekto (one of the moons in the Outer Planets mod), which has a thick, oxygen-less atmosphere and low gravity. The moon orbits a gas giant way out past Jool so getting there an back in an SSTO required 3 gravity assists on the way and immaculate planning!
-
I know that idea got tossed around a little bit but I have no idea whether it will be implemented. One thing that I would love to see is a moon with a thin atmosphere (like half of Dunas) but with oxygen. I don't mind on the size of the moon, anything between the Mun and Laythe could be cool! Anyway, this would mean that jet engines would function at high speeds although the wouldn't produce as much thrust as on Kerbin. Preferably I would like to see this around Urlum but who knows I'm glad everything worked out in the end and that I could help!

I see OP+ as a temporary addition to give the remaining gas giants moons whilst we wait for OPM to develop and finish them. The quality of OPM far succeeds that of OP+ so I doubt the two will merge in the future. I might be right in thinking OP+ adds other objects to orbit the sun though, so possibly its creators could add those to a separate mod that can be installed with OPM? Nice - I like the look of the terrain! I wonder what sort of size that is though.
-
I ran into a similar problem myself but was not bothered by it because I made my own, bespoke config for the outer planets anyway. However, one this that I did notice worked was copying the contents of the Tekto config file and pasting it at the end of the 'cloudLayers-Astronomer'sVisualPack' config file in the same sub-folder. That should at least get clouds for Tekto working!

Yeah, following on from what CaptRobau said, version 1.3 of this mod (which added the first moons to Sarnus) came out of the 11th of January and the Sarnus system has only just been finished - in broad terms. Although I heard CaptRobau mentioning that the moons for Urlum are actually rather well developed already, I think it will still be a while yet until both the Urlum and Neidon system are in a state that the developers would call finished. So even if it sounds quite far away, the mod has many major updates to come in the mean time! Also, I'm happy with the rate OPM is progressing. I would rather wait longer in order to have the same high quality additions so far brought to us - although sometimes I am still pleasantly surprised when I see an update before I expected!

Who is the biggest KSP video maker on Youtube?
hazard-ish replied to Duckytrask's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Yeah, for me it would have to be Scott Manley or Kurtjmac. I love Danny but his uploads are rather sparse currently... -
Yes, I agree that SSTOs are overpowered. I would highly recommend checking out 'MrOverfloater' if you haven't already. I have taken a several tonne cargo to Minmus using an SSTO too on my channel and am planning on going to the Sarnus system and back in one soon. However, as has been discussed previously here, building a nice looking and well flying SSTO is hard and from my experience SSTO missions are harder than standard rocket ones.
