  1. The mouse slipped! Would it really be that hard to have a "terminate all debris" button in the tracking station? Or at least have a picture of a kerbal on the vessel item in the list (for vessels that have crew on board)? This kind of senseless killing must stop. Valentina's KIA and I blame Squad. I hope they can love with themselves, for I am consumed with guilt. She will be remembered (until I accidentally murder another valiant space hero).
  2. The "Earth" construct we have recently got wind of is unrealistic because the ground scatter comprises trees and what appears to numerous kinds of dwellings in such numbers as to be unfavorable to practical rendering distances. Also, humans may clog up your air intakes if your fly too low in unauthorized areas.
  3. "GIMP" I don't know why other free image editors exist. GIMP does it all* *that's not even remotely true but I like to pretend.
  4. Human Resources personnel can be made culpable for practically anything. Just say that the new HR assistant secretary was jammed in the final stage decoupler, leaving the craft unstable.
  5. Dogs as pilots. So we can do Sputnik II missions. They would have to be green dogs obviously. The space suits (for EVA) would be adorable. The badS flag would have to be set by default for all doggy kerbonauts, just like in real life.
  6. Perhaps she can't remember if she left the gas on at home.
  7. THIS but using the Prograde and Retrograde symbols from the NavBall instead of the words. That would be a pretty sweet in-joke.
  8. Spent over 2 hours playing with RemoteTech (I'm new to that particular mod), and managed to get my Comms satellite into a perfect 6 hour keosync orbit over the KSC. I was satisfied and very pleased with myself so I decided to decouple the satellite from the manned tugboat that pushed it up there in the first place, so I could bring the tug back to Kerbin to fetch satellite number 2... Awesome! Decouple successful... hit F5... realise that Jeb is actually chilling by the pool back at KSC and not in fact in the capsule of the tugboat which now drifts gracefully but emptily dangerously close to my carefully situated and rather expensive commsat. Panic hit F9... ohhhhh. Dang.
  9. As unrealistic as controlling a space ship with a keyboard and mouse? I'm inclined to agree. I bought the simplest model for 100 Euros as a good compromise.
  10. 3dConnexion make some nice hardware. I bought a SpaceNavigator and it works brilliantly in KSP for EVA, RCS maneuvers, docking and flying planes in an atmosphere. The RCS and EVA thrusters work proportionally with the amount of pressure you apply to the controller. This makes it possible to glide around smoothly like a pro! You can even hover a few feet over the Mun without hammering keys. Very cool. The top level units have many configurable buttons but I have the simple mushroom type controller. The hardware build quality is top-notch and you can always use it for CAD design work (sketchup or solidworks). I'm trying to get work to buy me one for solidworks.
  11. The only safe thing to do is *imagine* playing KSP (without any mods) in the safety of your own head while whistling the Windows boot-up music over and over. If at any time you think you can hear smooth jazz or lounge music, this is an indication that the NSA are implanting untested spy rocket designs into your thoughts for simulation flights in your squishy human brain. This is also covered in the EULA, so that's alright. There is no fairing.
  12. Just a few minutes ago, I landed in a steep valley in a ship with no RCS. Jeb still seemed chipper about it all though. Val will once again have to rescue Jeb from dire circumstances.
  13. Started a new 1.0.2 career mode (normal settings) and got as far as a 2.8Mm keostationary orbital satellite (with Line of Sight on a ground station)* contract without patched conics being unlocked! My robotic probe core feels like such a badS right now, as it burns up in Kerbin's unforgiving atmosphere. *astonishingly, this mission can be completed with a craft costing less than 9000 Funds.
  14. I have never had a helical encounter before. I didn't even know it was possible... http://imgur.com/gallery/xeezZ3J That's the patched conical madness that has just confronted me. I'm tempted to just abort my mission and see where this crazy trajectory takes me.
  15. Normally I do repair electronics where possible, but this dead mouse of mine is a rebranded low quality POS and came bundled with my PC. It's not worth £3 new, so I bought one of these as a replacement... http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00KXYV6YW
  16. An astute question. I cannot be sure of the technology behind my newly procured pointing mechanism. I can only surmise that there is some kind of exotic quantum anomaly being harnessed for the furtherment of Kerbalkind. My guess would be that it exploits a variant of the Casimir effect to detect Chandrasekhar limit displacement uncertainty within high proximity metallic ionization zones. Some might call it a switch, I suppose.
  17. You are being indoctrinated by the Kraken. RESIST!!!
  18. The right click microswitch on my mouse is beginning to fail. Since I use this PC for little else but KSP there can only be one explanation... Our Glorious Space Kraken Overlord is now able to reach out beyond the Kerbin space/time continuum and physically affect the unseen beings that guide our valiant Kerbonauts toward the stars. This is dire news indeed. Said unseen being has bought a new mouse (a Kraken proof one).
  19. Sounds like fun. I'll try it once it's been drained of resources.
  20. Nice! Those are great. How did you land them, Klaws and parachutes? If so, how many chutes do you need?
  21. By far, this is the most epic set of missions I've done so far. Grab an A-class asteroid, haul it back to Kerbin, drill a hole in it, extract the precious fuels. http://imgur.com/gallery/Ihelsfo This makes career mode my favourite way to play 4 flights: Flight 1 to capture and return the asteroid to a horribly eccentric and inclined orbit of Kerbin. Flight 2 to almost fix the broken orbit. Flight 3 to make the orbit perfect 120km circular with 0.000 eccentricity. (This is the smaller ship hanging off the side of the mining rig). Flight 4 to bring Bob and the mining gear up to exploit the valuable minerals! This whole set of missions cost about 800,000 to undertake. No fatalities, this was a good day for Kerbalkind. Oh, and I called it "Texako Station" .
  22. I was disappointed to find the ion engines were nerfed so they are unusable in Kerbin's atmosphere. Before 1.0 there was a terrific Challenge which had a huge amount of interest (get to the Insular Runway in the shortest time using only ion engines as propulsion) which I and many others enjoyed immensely.
  23. The wiki is probably the closest thing to a manual. Although it is rather unfortunate that every single human being interested in KSP is more absorbed in playing the game rather than documenting it. This could be the very definition of success in video game design. Alas, the wiki is a dessicated, frozen tumbleweed bouncing across the surface of eeloo, someone must retrieve it and return it to Kerbin, that is why we're here.
