I'd suggest A) all-caps, maybe a different typeface top & bottom of equals sign should line up with top and bottom of text. C) Move Equals sign closer to text - try to match that space with the spaces between the lines of text Otherwise, nice simple design. I sometimes forget how hard design is for people who haven't had years of schooling like I have.

I use them in situations where it's important to have an engine of some sort, but not necessarily a good engine. Where a low launchpad weight is more important than a probe's delta-v. In all other probe situations I'll use the little orange Rockomax.

Designed a new atmospheric descender probe. Upon testing realized that it had way too little in terms of power generation capability. Will redesign or more likely resurrect my previous design. Still need a name for it!

Vehicle Construction in Space
moogoob replied to wolverine79936's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
You're talking about one of two things. 1. Assemble in multiple parts a craft of some sort in orbit. That's doable, but your biggest limitation's gonna be the wobblyness of the docking ports needed to assemble in orbit. 2. Launch a full vehicle, then refuel at the station, using it to do mun missions then come back to the station, never returning to kerbin except through other craft. This is much easier and more practical - I have a station around Minmus for this very reason, the re-fueling of landers. Are either of these any help? -
Have you had any mysterious or unexplainable evnts in KSP?
moogoob replied to SubzeroSpartan7's topic in KSP1 Discussion
The Kraken ate Jeb once. The game crashed to desktop during a mission (I think it was upon leaving my craft after re-entry and landing, trying to get some early-game soil sample from Kerbin) and when I rebooted - Jeb was gone. The science that his ship collected was OK, though. Bill and Bob swore off space flight for a few missions while newbies flew, just in case. -
Nearly 3 years playing KSP and the same old failures happen
moogoob replied to Boris_T_Roach's topic in KSP1 Discussion
The only reason I won't turn off "revert to vehicle assembly" is the sheer number of times I'd be launching and realize at 5km up "Oh! I forgot that Fine Print needs docking ports on its surface bases" and have to go back just to slap on a few. Still barely made any funds from that mission. -
Equipment/personnel delivery to my new career Minmus station - reusable lander (with Bob inside) and docking boom (with Monopropellent storage). Then tested the lander on a trip to the surface. Previous mission brought three crewmembers - one station commander (not Jeb, he was eaten by the Kraken) and two lab rats. The station itself was a Fine Print contract, space for nine Kerbals, a lab, power, docking ports and an antenna. It's coming in handy! Being able to reuse science bays and goo containers is astoundingly useful.

Planetary Rings
moogoob replied to Whirligig Girl's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Eve would be a very interesting planet to give a ring. Not sure though if rings would be stable that close to the sun - wouldn't solar winds destabilize the particles rather quickly? Though, this is KSP we're talking about - a system in which a small moon made of (presumably) mint ice cream doesn't melt at 1au from the sun. -
Skids in Space
moogoob replied to Moesly_Armlis's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
"What am I looking at?!? When does this happen in the movie?" -
Cameras. By that I mean visual science suites - maybe two of them. Small one for robot probes/rovers and a larger one for giving Kerbals on flybys or stuck in orbit something to do. Either treat them just like EVA reports or give the ability to look through them (with digital noise and the ability to take screenshots). Maybe make this a stock ability of cockpits with windows? I know that the ISS's cupola is commonly used for taking pictures.

Rocket Garden KSC Upgrade
moogoob replied to moogoob's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I'm sure this could be used for more than just rockets - putting landers or planes on display a-la a sort of outdoor Smithsonian might be up some players' alleys too. -
At Kennedy Space Center's Visitor Center they have something called a "Rocket Garden" (link). I have photos from when I was ten years old visiting that place and staring up in wonder at Atlas and Titan rockets. I think that might be a nice upgrade for the space centre - a place where you can put four or five rockets on display and drive rovers around them. Only issues that come to mind is memory and parts count - some of my launchers are capable of slowing my PC on their own, five of them would melt my PC. Thoughts?
-
Yup. I flew like I was playing Orbiter - and without Orbiter's HUD or orbit MFD had a bit of trouble. Eventually figured out that that was what the Navball and map view were for. Then watched a Scott Manley tutorial video or four and haven't looked back. Rockets rule.

Tier One Space Center CONFIRMED: It's a barn!
moogoob replied to Starwhip's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Really explains the names Jeb, Bill and Bob. They're rednecks! EDIT (TO AVOID DOUBLE-POSTING): I actually am really liking the barn. Early Career mode always seems slapped-together. The whole "building a space centre from the ground up" thing really fits with the progression of gameplay. I may stop starting with 60 science (to unlock the first four nodes) to do some solid launches from the barn. -
I've seen many dying and dead forums. This ain't one of them.

Interplanetary burns from polar orbits.
moogoob replied to davidpsummers's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
You could burn straight from a polar orbit. Main issue - are you facing the right direction when you hit escape velocity? IE retrograde to Duna's orbit. In an equatorial orbit, all you have to do is wait until the right time. -
Multiple docking ports?
moogoob replied to Strainborm's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I've seen it done, but it's very, very tricky. If you're slightly off, it can become impossible. Are there mods that have bigger docking ports maybe? -
100%. To quote youtuber Jacksepticeye, "SPEEED IS KEEY!" Partially joking though - I try to tweak any engines/boosters so that my wet TWR is somewhere around 1.3/1.4 so that ascent isn't too dramatic.
-
I've never blown any building up. Hope I never have to.
-
Yesterday, I opened my second career save after a crash (computer, not spacecraft. I'm a better pilot than that. ) to find out that the Kraken had eaten Jeb. Turned respawns off, too. At least I got to keep the science I'd collected before the crash. My next flight used Philgar, as neither Bill nor Bob were willing to go first.

Price rises?!? It was bad enough 10 years ago when I played. Dang, now I feel old.
-
Not individual rewards, but the Explore contracts can pay out a lot. In one trip to Jool (orbit + science), Pol and Bop (orbit, science, land, science) that's 13 separate payouts. I made millions from a robotic mission that cost barely over a hundred thousand.
-
Nope. Well, one really heavy lifter design I use does wire up one set of liquid boosters this way, but it'd function pretty similar even if I didn't

The "You know you're playing a lot of KSP when..." thread
moogoob replied to Phenom Anon X's topic in KSP1 Discussion
When you're heading out to meet up with someone and text them that you're "on final approach". -
I'd think there'd be a good number of Android fans here. (I'm an Android guy myself - Samsung Galaxy SIII)
