1. When You already have a Kerbal on EVA, move him a bit away from "hatch" area, then use [ or ] to switch back to the ship. And You can take another Kerbal out (to a prom?) EDIT: Welcome to the forum! Many good landings
2. Less struts. Don't take off with full throttle. EDIT: Engine exhaust can destroy the tank it is next to. Don't burn along the body of Your rocket. Like those side-mounted tanks You have there.
3. The retrograde indicator should be perfectly on vertical point on the navball. Just achieve that ~5km above the surface, and You'll be fine, Your horizontal velocity will be 0.
4. Harv did spoke on this subject just last week on FLOB livestream. He was pretty clear... But those 3 always had orange suits inside the capsule.
5. That the yellow part on the left, behind the instruments, looks like the small ladder part viewed from beneath.
6. The electrical mods have to do with the ships themselves, not satellites AFAIK. BUT there is a mod of likes You are looking for my friend. Wait a moment while I look for a link for You. Edit: Here You go.Enjoy!
7. Indeed it does look promising. I'm all for life support! But I feel like this is just a "filler" so that there's less space and even number of buttons(?) rather than an indicator of some in-game mechanic...
8. Short answer - probably not... They don't want to add it, yet at least. Or maybe the devs had a change of heart?
9. My tip would be to make sure that when You are below 10Km 1) You don't have any horizontal velocity, 2) Your vertical speed is <300m/s Then Burn/free-fall until You get to ~1000 (assuming You don't want to land on a mountain), keep speed uner 100m/s and keep slowing down until touch-down at ~2-1m/s One long burn is not really possible since we don't know at what alt. we are landing... And You would need to be able to do an enormous amount of maths in Your head anyway.
10. I imagine that the second one is true. Makes sense too. The altimeter doesn't have negative values, not even when You crash land in Kerbins ocean and go below the surface for a moment, it shows 000000m
11. I second that. All descriptions so far create an images in my head, of Kessel from SW...
12. The new parts set is not complete yet. You're not doing anything wrong - it's just that we don't yet have all the tools. As for big parachute falling off - I have it too (also because of ASAS), but there is a workaround. Just take 2 normal (small) parachutes and attach them on pods wall close to the tip (not on the ASAS; on the pod itself), and make sure they deploy BEFORE the big one. If You want to use new parts, then use them in conjunction with Novas pack - they are compatible in size, because new parts are based of that pack. click it to enlarge
13. That is uber-cool Nova. I can't make out what it is, and where is its front/rear end, but it's still cool!
14. How? If it's made of propane then You'd have to first get the oxygen to it to have an explosion. We don't usually think of oxygen being explosive and propane we do. But in propane atmosphere it's the oxygen that's the flammable, explosive gas. A propane atmosphere is no more dangerous than oxygen atmosphere. Together... well that's when the fun begins!
15. I just embrace the idea of "PANIC button" as spacebar. When something goes wrong, I panic and start spamming it... Works like a charm 9/10* incidents. *not actually supported by any raw data. I take no responsibility for loss of life and/or equipement due to employing this method. This advertisement is sponsored by "Kerbalington National Cementary for Kerbonauts" Inc. Tm.
16. Not really. Using liquid stages instead of solids is just a choice. They can last longer and help with control, but don't have that good power to weight ratio as boosters. I'd still put one set of boosters just to push me of the ground just for convenience. But that's not really required, unless Your rocket has slow ascend speed. As to wooblines - too many SAS units in different parts of rocket can cause that as well as too much force. Try to keep g-force not higher than the middle on the display, but higher then the green zone. Also, if You have the main stage, it's typically a good idea to have 1/3 of engines gimbaled and the rest standard. So You don't get over-control. Try making a single "core" of command pod;decoupler;ASAS,1SAS,RCS tanks, one fuel, gimbal engine;decoupler;3 fueltanks, gimbal engine;decoupler;6fuel tanks, gimbal engine. Then put 4 radial decouplers on bottom stage and add those liquid stages with normal engines. Then if You want a row of solids on the outside. Then add struts where they should be. And Your generally set to go minus some minor adjustments. This is not a spoiler, just an example of how I would do it but there are many different ways...
17. In my experience You shouldn't really use solid rocket beyond the thickest part of the atmosphere. One thing You cannot stop them, and second they disrupt manoeuvring ability. So initial stage (but in 2-3 rows firing in sequence).
18. All of them AFAIK. The main trio is just another name in the queue to be chosen. You just need to murder enough kerbals and the clones will show up when the pool name dry out
19. One tip to rule them all (orbits): MOAR BOOSTERS. Seriously, that was like a golden rule to me in my first attempts to orbit Kerbin
20. One more way is to be patient. Eventually they all re-appear in game, all on their own (the new clone grows of age)...
21. I'd like to share an observation with You guys. When I first bought KSP it had the scent of novelty. I played it every free moment of my life until next update. I THINK it was .11 Then when the 'shiny new toy' stopped being new (still shiny thou), I've played maybe every 4-5 days. Just for fun, to relax. And here's the observation: That ratio is growing. We are on .16 and there are hardly any days I don't play KSP. Conclusion is simple. weter You guys are doing this on purpose or not, KSP is becoming MOAR addictive by the update. And that's what I would like to thank You SQUAD. You've managed to cure my Minecraft addiction by replacing it with (clearly better) KSP addiction So Thank YOU! And Happy New Easter!
23. I must say that at least that cockpit view is very immersive. I watched it in full screen, and felt like it was me failing at landing IRL
24. A question: does rep works backwards? I mean, does it take into account anything that happened prior to implementing it? Because it seems like it doesn't.
