F2 disables part glow.
Higgs replied to Spartwo's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
To be fair, if you dont like the glow, dont mouse over it when you have the UI shut off. It really is that simple. Barring that, why not just edit the code to make it do what your asking? or make a mod for it? It personally does not bother me at all when I shut the UI down. I just shove my pointer off screen for pics like that any way lol. just sayin -
Anyone else want to like career mode but just can't?
Higgs replied to Fourjays's topic in KSP1 Discussion
i want to like career mode, and i do with some reservations about it. I want substance and story to my "campaigns" and what career mode gives me now, with the contracts is pure gibberish. Oh sure, it has something that LOOKS like a story, but really isnt. It is my sincerest HOPE that .90 revamps that. Otherwise, I will stay where I started: in my sand box with my shovel and pale pretending to be Godzilla. image is owned by Bill Watterson and Andrews McMeel Publishing. -
Okay, this is for fun to see how we all do things. It is a simple question: Do you just throttle up THEN fire the motors, then, decouple clamps? Do you Fire the motors, throttle up and release clamps all at once? Or do you do some combo other than what I listed? I myself, tend to slam on the gas, light the candle and blow my clamps lose in ONE step. Im like Jeb, impatient XD. Now, how do YOU do it?

words failed me a while back lol. this thing is just staggeringly beautiful

Q. How do I re-kindle my interest in KSP
Higgs replied to KandoKris's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Okay, I was going to address our OP first, BUT, that shuttle makes me want to ask Zekes first: WHAT MOD IS THAT? <the tanks specifically as well as the engine bells on the shuttle>. With that done. I will turn to our OP. What I would suggest is this: Put no stock in what the most prolific posters say, do, dont say, dont do. its just not worth the head ache. All that matters is what YOU think. I would suggest, take a break from KSP. Wait for .90 to drop and come back and see what comes up with that. Do not beat yourself up on what the prolific posters think or do, again, just not worth it. The sad truth is, that, it seems like, those with 1000, 2000 or MORE posts are seen as authorities on the forum and almost sin like to be different than them. It has sparked fights on this board, when say, mr 5000 posts says one thing, and you, with 10 posts says something that is 180 degrees off of what they said, and you get flatly ignored. It stinks, and its wrong. We are ALL valuable and equal imho. BUT, take a break not only from the game, but the forum as well. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, or so they say. -
i have yet to name this thing. Its an all stock 99 part SSTO. If you watch Das Valdez's streams you may have seen him working on this ship, i submitted it to him, because I just couldnt figure out what the heck was wrong with it. turned out, needed some very small tweaks, and now, well, flies like a champ! Btw, this thing, as Das Valdez proved, has one HECK of a glide slope!

ive a few abandoned craft roaming the solar system. a rover on the mun, a munar lander test craft, a few satellites in orbit of the sun that performed various missions and have since been put into dormancy. You know how it goes lol.

A Pause Button
Higgs replied to Kingofawesome13's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
shouldnt just hitting ESC be sufficient for a pause, seeing as it pauses the game? -
100% stock. 99 parts. In orbit. SSTO.

My version is the steam version, mostly because that's how I discovered the game. I run off the included .exe from the DL so I don't have the overlay. It still tracks game time and auto updates. That being said the real difference between ksp.com version and steam is auto-updates from steam, time tracking (how long you have used the game) and that's it. Same game either way, just the source of where you get it is different. Think of it like this, it's like buying a movie at a discount store versus buying the same movie at a dedicated movie retailer. Same thing different place.

the current airframes of the F-15 are showing signs of aging. Some of the global militaries that USE the Eagle are being forced to ground many of them due to age. The cockpit/nose section of the bird <ahead of the intakes> has structural issues that a few years ago brought several aircraft out of the sky and forced the aforementioned grounding of about HALF of ALL F-15s world wide. While, the Eagle WAS a superior fighter in its day, and still packs a punch, its days of seeing use may be drawing to an end. As to the F-35, when you build 1 air frame that can handle STOL/VTOL and naval operations, you of course LIMIT the task specific capabilities of the bird. The F-35 is a victim of "Jack of all trades, master of none" syndrome. If you want a truly superior fighter, then design it for that ROLE for a specific BRANCH of the military. Do NOT design 1 bird for the airforce and then TRY to make it fit the needs of the Marine Corp AND the Navy all at once. The Navy btw, is a superior fighting force. Id like to see the USAF take its airbases and plop one in the middle of the ocean in a few hours notice. The Navy can do just that. Navy is superior at its tasks, the Airforce for its. So on and so forth. Lets be real, they all Serve and Protect America, and they should get the respect they are do. Any current or former Military on this forum, you have my thanks for your service.

Too many parts - Any Way to save some of them FPS?
Higgs replied to Kobymaru's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
all i know is, until they do something <squad OR unity> we are stuck with what we have. and for MOST OF US, 64 bit just isnt stable enough to play the game enjoyably on windows. -
32 bit support memory limits stink, but unity is not very friendly <by and large, yes i know SOME seems to run 64 bit on windows just fine, i for one, am not one of those lucky folk> with 64 bit windows. Until Unity devs make a stable supported 64 bit unity engine, we are by and large <see prior sentence> stuck in 32 bit, which, has that fun 4 gig limit. i know, other stated it too, but, i wanted to chime in too lol

Too many parts - Any Way to save some of them FPS?
Higgs replied to Kobymaru's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
If you are running this on 32 bit you are limited to a max of like 4 gig ram. That said, may I suggest not scaling your mission down, BUT sending it in multiple series of ships to scale back the strain on your rig itself. End result of same big mission taken in smaller bytes so to speak. -
honestly, id recommend you add more SAS modules to the craft for one. 2. idk your power situation <batteries/rtg's> but, you may be running out of power faster than the ship can cope with, so, add more power generation either batteries or RTGs. 3. perhaps you may want more engines or possibly bigger ones in place of the 4 you have now. Those are just my suggestions of course. best of luck side note: i thought of this as I hit post lol. what about the vernor engines? have you tried using those? also, as suggested above, check thrust limiting AND fuel flows, something may be wonky. best of luck XD

HyperEdit is way too much fun! It lets me do fun stuff
Higgs replied to theguyinthemines's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
I am not one to call this mod or that mod a cheat, but, HyperEdit is the ONE mod, that to ME is 100% CHEATING. I think, and this is me, that the point of this game, is to go about this whole space program thing, with a sense of realism, in that, you must fly to this place or that in order to achieve a mission. Bringing the mission target to you, well, thats just cheating. Again, thats my personal opinion, yours decidedly differs from mine. NOW, lets all hold hands and sing the la la la song as we all dance harmoniously flinging kerbals this way and that. -
Battlesloth im not usually one to complain about walls of text, but, man, that could use some serious spacing, cuz that made my eyes hurt. And its not Hoffman, its Hohmann. Sorry had to correct that, as I couldnt stop seeing Phillip Seymore Hoffman's face cropping up in my mind. That being said, welcome to the fun
-
Ferret, that makes a scary line. Goo funding funds... I think it's hinted that the goo is kerbals.... Just scary
-
this, so much of this. I wish theyd call it something more clever, and perhaps down the road they might, but for now, the above stands true.

....but but what about time warp?
