Hi all, This really is a trial, a first cinematic - hence no music (a silent film?), even a dream of mine to tell a particular story. Roree Kerman is practising entering the capsule. He seems to have forgotten something... I would appreciate any pointers. There is a plan for this to be part of a longer cinematic progression. Peace.

Thanks for investigating this Shaw, really appreciate your time looking into it. If only the kerbal head had been modelled separately and just plonked on top! Perhaps one option for a 3D modeller would be to simply extract the kerbal model and prod it to a shape we would want, but I also seem to remember that this is against the EULA. I'm not sure. I did PM @shaw but I haven't heard - I'm guessing he is quite busy if he is updating Texture Replacer. He may be adding it in to that but again, I have no idea. Are you offering? That would be so cool. My guess though is that he ran a kOS script that did the burn then quickloaded and ran the script again in map view then imposed the map view recording over the terminal window in post production. But I'd be very happy to be wrong. Peace. Edit - it appears I am correct but was ninjad by 4 hours by the kos subreddit where you also asked. My answer was a little more detail though Peace out. -
Just a game... are you sure? KSP is a lifestyle choice.

That's my go to site as well @DStaal I've been thinking though about Kerbal dizziness with the rotation. Aren't they are only 1 metre high? If so then the differential between their heads and feet is significantly less. On the lighter side though they do seem to spend most of their time sitting down when on board craft... Peace.

Thanks for the response. The reason I asked was the experienced acceleration force from the rotational speed and your suggested diameter. 2 RPM is quite low at a radius of ~15m, 4 rpm would be around Munar gravity. If the RPM is adjustable in the cfg then all the more awesome! I thought that you had developed your own plugin, I just wasn't sure. Peace.

Looks so amazing! Questions for my own satisfaction... What is the speed of rotation planned to be, and will that be adjustable? Are you using your own plugin for the rotation or will it be one of the many - IR, Firespitter, USI Tools or Kerbalism? Also, the texture your latest post looks very balloon like. Awesome! Peace.

Okay everyone, I'll update the OP for a request to do two things: Write the code .dll that would put replace the head of a Kerbal using an object made in an accessible 3d modeling programme. (I'm not suggesting that 3d modelling is easy, but if anyone wants to have a go, then open source such as Blender might be a good option unless others are easier to use and are cheap!) Have others (or the same) create some alternate kerbal heads or offer themselves for requests (or commissions). Thanks for your feedback, especially @JPLRepo for pointing out that this is now actually a possibility! rbray89 It s a shame @shaw and @rbray89 aren't currently active as they might be able to do something with Texture Replacer. Thanks @kerbiloid, @SpannerMonkey(smce), @Dr. Jet. This is obviously possible, how difficult would it be for a modder to achieve? What I was hoping for is for a semi easily manipulative model (in blender) that I can adjust so I can put my kids faces into the game even if the uncanny valley is completely awful. Alternately making the head smaller so I can photoshop faces in easier. Peace.- 29 replies

Calling all modders! As JPLRepo has pointed out in a post below, there is now the possibility of replacing the infamous Kerbal heads with different 3D models. The KSP code now allows this. The request is really two parts, if someone(s) is/are able to assist with either of them that would be great! What I really want to know is how Veon managed to change the head model, and if someone knows how to contact Veon whether they would be up for a request. Or if someone else was up for a challenge request. Or if I could be pointed in the right direction on how to go about it myself if I learnt 3D modelling. Peace.

Off topic: William Pickering worked for JPL form the end of WWII until just before the Voyager launches. I'd need to wikipedia it to be sure. I think he led JPL during most of that time too. Off topic: 10.40pm are you getting up for the rugby? Sorry to hear about your MS. That is a huge thing to have to deal with each day.
