  1. orbit - 2 mun - 4 minmus - 4 no other systems - 0 docked - 10 no asteroids yet, contraptions in the making - 0 I use difficutly reducing mods - 0 I quicksave - 0 no other systems, yet - 0 20/20=1. I get a score of 1. I've got vessels on the way to other systems, jool, duna and eve - but i dont time warp, too much. I've spent far too much time on this game. I have done probably about 20 - 40 landings on mun and minmus with detachable stuff upto 80 tonnes, If i was to subtract for mods like mechjeb, kethane, orbital science etc i use that make it easier (control, fuel, science etc) my score might be something like .5 lol I did a seisemic test on teh mun with interstellar the other day and got waaaaaaaay nuff science. Shame i had to reload as it didnt tick the contract, but yea would have made it easier.
  2. This is awe inspiring amazing goodness. Well played sir! For the time being im using a dedicated landing vehicle that can either support or suspend the payload, it lands, lets go of cargo and either takes off again immediately or will a touch and go and land nearby. Nothing compaired to that. I likes EDIT: Your not using kerbal attachment system! what the... You've done this is stock. I see kerbodyn engines but.. but.. no kas. That is even more of a breathtakingly remarkable creation.
  3. I have never been able to make a plane that takes off right. I've never been able to land a plane. I've tried space planes, never got out of the atmosphere, so failed there also - obviously. Been playing at least a year now, just sent a ship to jool system - my goodness how it wobbled and flexed. Had to do 3 burns, disable engines and work at about 2m/s acceleration. took about 3 kerbal (kerbol?) days. I've just made this stupid little light stand thing that i was going to put under the arch on the mun, cant get the damn thing to stand up.
  4. Thats exactly what I did, I did many contracts rewarding money and science, i went for minmus and my first recovered land from teh mun topped me up with my last batch of science. Its been sat there ever since, all other science since then went into money. I dont mind the tech tree, its bound to get done sooner or later, and making everything more expensive is going to turn it into more grind. Now im chillin building and sending craft wherever I want, picking up contracts as they suit me :s
  5. Nice to meet valentina, and nice looking resources thing. cant say i'm overly excited for the new aero thing, but i'm sure it'll be great
  6. I am yet to try excavate a monument bring bring it back to the KSC.
  7. nice touches exactly how i thought it would look
  8. Interstellar mod is the most long winded mod i have ever seen for this game but its well worth it.
  9. im not 100% sure, but i spend more time building things than actually flying things. Launching ships to do various tasks and get to play around, docking, Finding things on planets like arches, Getting is all back home etc Asteroids was a brilliant implimentation into the game, havnt caught one yet tho Whatever it is, its nice.
  10. Hit it right on the button there. Yus. With kethane is its way way too fast to deplete. I can complete some deposit regions in just 2 mining excursions. Even the more dense ones wouldnt take much more than that, probably.. roughly. Though i havn't been far. Havn't actually used karbonite yet, but im really liking the sound of unlimited and scansat intergration, and background activity. I do prefer that green to that red
  11. No not really. I voted yes having certain personality because once or twice I either liked the name of the kerbal or was stuck with a very long mission and tried to give them roles, and its not that i dont care about them i dont like to see them die but i have never given any of them a "role" as such. I just end up remembering who is on what mission, and am joyful to see a familiar "face". They are all expendable. My space program is a total business.
  12. it would be nice to be able to leave my rover on a low speed and direction and go manage something else for a few days while it drives past where i wanted to be. I've used rover autopilot on mechjeb and some other mod. Now then, unless i've done it wrong, the thing will usually blow itself up very shortly after i engage autopilot. Seems the steering direction, throttle control and BRAKES are a bit - all or nothing. Auto pilot for rovers are WORSE at stopping, slowing down, keeping the thing level, climbing hills, moving accross gradients. etc. without constant adult supervision. Once a wheel leaves the ground, that autopilot goes into ... mode and guarentees disaster. Unless your doing 2m/s or less. Then if you go 0.1 over the designated speed, it slams on brakes full so your doing cartwheels in the bloody rover, i wouldn't recomend autopilot. I did find using waypoints made driving a bit easier, it helps to navigate around terrain, and end up exactly where you want but not actually letting the autopilot take control of anything and i'm 100% more likely to live. Rovers dont suck I think they're brilliant! Not easy and not much point for the time being but STILL. I see this thread, i think you should re-name to "why rovers kick ass" All points are still valid. Most of my ground rover missions have turned out to be 100% manually controlled full on missions from A to B. The longest drive i've done was in a kethane mining lorry thing on minmus, i did 90km. Quicksaved every 5-10km, few hiccups more or less should have been a first time success. WAsn't easy driving, controlling, (landing again) but the hardest part was the patience. The gamble on weather to go faster sometimes paid off, other times cost me to re-load :/ That Idea about using the motors as regenerative brakes is good, i'd like to see that. Maybe as a customisable, I wouldn't want that on all the time.
  13. I like building big heavy things, i dont move them around much, but when i have done, they have been real "missions" like any other flight, full of surprises, and totally unpredictable in different gravitys
  14. I wasn't expecting squad to do that, and i was avoiding those mods that affected that stuff in terms of aerodynamics or physics alerting but if that was the plan then why not! It would be nice to see some procedural wings and more customisables on the right click menus, I wouldn;t mind some more creative engines, - tbh wouldn't mind more of everything, wheels, landing gears, structurals, adapters, engines, sciency gizmos, space stationy things right click customisables, length, height, etc etc I know mods mods its all good. ACTUALLY re-entry heat. In terms of realism, every land i have ever done will be rendered invalid, I rather enjoy believing the faster and more red glowy stuff comes off the ship and the harder the aerobreak and the higher the G force the more fun it will be. So long as they land right? Dont they make their stuff (everything except solar panels) out of really solid stuff? Least thats what I thought
  15. Damn, im still on .25 with interstellar, it was so long ago i cant remember if i even did any patching and whatnot. Seems to be ok? Havnt tried anything crazy yet but totally love the idea of "beaming energy" and had loads of fun setting relays and having tested them they work! havn't actually put it to any good use yet, sent a v... ve... the big half a million credits engine to the sun with a probe, that was nice but just mucking around. Spent a rediculous amount longer looking at the loading screen, aswell as many (unrelated?) crashed, spent a stupid amount of time trying to understand the differnt reactors, fuels, engines, recources, etc etc . Still dont have a clue (i swear theres nothing wrong with me :E) Was wondering myself weather to remove it but that relay beaming energy thing kept me, and maybe slowly i'll get my head around the other "fun" crazyness and total lack of usefull introductions/what does what documentation. The wiki just blags my head. But yea glad to see it working for .9! Hope it rolls through to v1
  16. i think the graphics are fine, mighty fine. I've been playing this game for donkeys but my little bro walked in on me a couple week ago and told me ksp looks like PS2 graphics. My jaw hit the floor, astonished he was sent away and I was left alone to reflect. You know when you like a game, and the graphics just cant be any other way. Its like that. Im not saying, imagine battlefield 4 in the minecraft engine or visa versa but seriously, with the part counts that only stack and stack and fps gets worse and worse, along with textures and whatnot, if the graphics were to change, what would you do? I am very much liking the mod that adds clouds, and dust and what not on planets and moons but i have too many mods already. The graphics are mighty fine
  17. The term rover is so undermining. I also think throttle should be for wheels energy / speed /power for land vehicles. I ALso think that the wheels and legs should have adjustable height and suspension. I enjoyed making land vehicles, never really tested them much at kerbin, but got it to minmus or something then have fun. I hear ya on the brakes thing, its a fine balance, depends on the vehicle, like a big 40 tonne thing will take longer to slow down then the wheels will lock, but a little "rover" will stop more or less immediately, I'd press W to slow down first if your going fast then just mostly using the brakes to keep it still. I made some long vehicles that could tow each other, it turned into a 200 tonne rolling train, but could get to 30m/s on minmus flats. Again that was with mods modular multiwheels or something like that, made some wicked lorry wheels. Making a crane thing now using stock wheels, just a little disappointed about the adjustables :/
  18. I've been playing with kethane since i started playing ksp at .18 or 19 - im probably not going to update till v1. and then i'll switch to karbonite. Kethane satelites dont scan when your busy elsewhere - and things dont mine aswell, as well as forever having to move the kethane base is alot to do to keep it going :/
  19. There have been times I have removed my SHIPS accidentally leaving the debris, the most expensive annoyance ever.
  20. im not very creative with names, the crap i come out with is things like "Science space station" or "kethane2spacelanderV8" or "35tlauncherv3" basically 2 words why i built the thing and a version for how many times i had to mess around with it to do what i wanted it to do :/ but the list is extensive and is ever growing bigger, when it gets mad long list i delete early versions
