  1. In theory, yes, in practice, not always. If you can get your heading set and no drift, turn on and it will do it's best to hold course. Until we get real piloting modules, we have to make do with what we got. If you check the Projects and Releases forum you can find an SAS that someone has tuned for better control. Just remember, the more force and size your rocket has, the less help the SAS modules will be. At some point you can't add enough modules to overcome the power of the rocket without degrading it's performance to useless. Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  2. Welcome to the KSP Forums! The yellow/green icons are your prograde velocity vector and the one with the x is the retrograde velocity vector. i.e. where you're going and the opposite. The purple indicator is the location of the KSC and the one with the x is the opposite side of where KSC is. The SAS is just an attitude hold. It's not really meant to steer the craft. If you craft goes off course a lot when it's on, you may need to add more of them. Happy Launching! Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  3. Because I put it there, yet people are STILL making this mistake k:( Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  4. Two things, first, remove the underscores from the name attribute, everything after the first one is ignored. Secondly, you can delete the .mtl and .obj files as they are unneeded. Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  5. I was about 5 when my father had a telescope experiment go up on one of the Apollo missions. All I can remember is the sound making my chest feel like it was going to explode. Nothing quite as beautiful as a rocket launch, model or real. Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  6. My father worked for NASA, so I got a lot of the real thing when I was a kid. Who needs a hobby when you got the real deal. k8) Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  7. I'll never forget my first D engine rocket, the Renegade. Was 3' tall and burned the asbestos clean off my homemade launching pad. Man, makes me want to go out and buy some shit and do some launches! Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  8. Is my memory failing or weren't the stripes day-glo safety orange? Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  9. Out of the frying pan and into the fire. The Select Directory button is fubar now. It's also not showing the current path under that as it did before. Also, double clicking the jar launches the program fine, but exiting it leaves the java process alive. Each time you restart, a new one is created. Had to use Task Manager to whack four instances before I could delete old version. Grabbing screenie of command window. This is what I got when I clicking on the Select Directory button.
  10. I believe it was stated by Harv that the next major version of the engine will support animation. Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  11. Check out my Beefy Mk III It was just a test of the couplers so there's no real orbital parts, just a DeCoup, SAS and Cmd Pod.
  12. Ok, the UI elements don't disappear, but I still don't see custom parts and the settings dialog still defaults to My Docs and not the current setting. The UI elements are missing from the Add Stage dialog in the Multi Stage Calculator though. Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  13. It's saving the path to the config correctly, it just doesn't seem to like reading the value. I wonder if it has to do with slashes, maybe they need to be escaped or something. I've never used Java so I gots no ideas there. I'm on the IRC channel if you need to talk shop. Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  14. Welcome to the KSP Forums! Happy Launching! Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  15. Nope, it's all bugged up. Now I get a blank space on the Stage Calculator tab where the UI bits were. Also, if I go back to set my program directory, it defaults to the original My Docs location instead of the folder I had set it to, i.e. my program directory E:\KSP Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  16. How to use with custom parts or am I missing something obvious? ??? Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  17. Satellites are kinda sucky atm because we don't have animation available yet. It doesn't quite look right launching a satellite with deployed solar panels. Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  18. Welcome to the KSP Forums! Happy Launching! Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  19. You aren't suggesting our members do anything illegal now Darrknox, are you? k:o Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  20. Yup, just tested it. Stuck a LFT under a command pod, strapped some of these to the side of the LFT, put engines on it and away it went. Very cool! Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  21. Sunday, about your RCS Module, is there any reason why it's type is CommandPod and not SASModule? It seems to be causing Kerbals to die from the multiple Command Pod issue. It's been brought up in this thread: http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?topic=1408.0 Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  22. Downloading this bad boy now! This opens a whole new world of design options. Great work! Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  23. Wow, many memories of these things melting from a misfire. Excellent work. k8) Makes me want to model a Mosquito. k;P Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  24. LOL The game already loads slow enough, imagine how much slower it would run if it had to unzip mods before loading parts. I've had no issues and simple one-click installs/uninstalls using GME. Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
  25. What? No endorsement from Admiral Sheppard? I am disappoint! Arrr! Capt'n Skunky
