Wow! I like how you made the rover with the wheel mounts and solar panels! Looks class! Was it difficult to get to Duna?
-
Np xD Oh I see... well, it might be a bit too "Laythe" for that... it's designed for Laythe and since the atmosphere is thinner it probably won't be as much of a fiery reentry, and it survived Kerbin reentry so I think I'm grand. And I'm also scared to change the design in case it won't work again. Anyone like my pun? No? Ok....

During the Duna mission I concocted, I got a female scientist.... Called ELITE KERMAN. Needless to say, she's the MLG pro out of the four. xD
-
Sorry, I couldn't answer because I was asleep. Timezones suck, man. xD But yes, as @Starman4308 said the mod is by the fantastic Necrobones. And pretty much all of his mods are awesome.
-
Well, all good things come to an end... Except that was not good. xD Too be honest the mission wasnt that exciting but it will forever be remember in Kerbal history. Elite Kerman - Theofurt Kerman - Bartster Kerman - Svetlana Kerman .... You know what? Scrap all the bad stuff I said before, it was definetly worth it.

It's time to bring the crew home... the mission was cut short due to disappearing KIS items (although it was my fault since in the VAB I put them in the seat inventories of empty pods) but we still got a hefty amount of science so it's time to return it.

Started my Duna Project!

[1.1.2] EVA Follower [v1.035, 20 May 2016]
SmashingKirby148 replied to MSD's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
He hasn't been here since May 26th sooooo... But it's still good to know it works at least somewhat decently. I really hope someone picks up the duty of continuing this because this is probably something needed in stock to make EVA's more fun. Oh wait, that was for 1.1.3, not 1.2... Yeah, I have just tested and it doesn't work in 1.2 so, anyone willing to recompile this? -
Wait, really?... crap. Well, I'll have to say goodbye to OPM for a couple of hours, days or whatever it will be. As for me though I have a begun constructing modules of a base for a Kerballed Duna landing. The base will hopefully be at the edge of two biomes, so the kerbals land at the base and inflate the modules and live there for half a year. during that time they will be driving a rover to the other biome and gathering science. They will come back and when the time comes, they will board the DAV (Duna Ascent Vehicle) and head home. So yeah, for those wondering, my SSTO is the crew transfer for an eventual Permanent Laythe Base.

Yikes! One time for a manned Duna mission I made it way more complicated than it should have been where I had a rover, a habitat and a launch vehicle. There were many quicksaves, and ultimately the crew were screwed until I somehow messed with a quicksave I had which brought them back, and I realised that was useless, but I was using Alt F5 + F9 which meant I could jump FOWARD in time, and I don't know what I did, but the crew lived. xD

The only thing that actually heated up for was, like you said, the cockpit. It went to 3/4ths of heat tolerance but everything else was grand. If anything my ascent was worse as 1 part blew up (it was only a flag decal) and a lot of others warmed up. Wait, how do I actually change the size of the wing?
-
Another question, should rudders go on the tilted part as well?
-
Ok, I'll try them out.
-
Oooh! Ok! I'll try that with future designs, since ever since I managed to not destroy my first one I feel like I have a chance. Wai, what wings are those? They look stock, but are a strange shape.
-
I actually managed deeper than that. After the periapsis vanished I instantly cut the engines.
-
I think I'm about to die from a panic attack. My SSTO survived re-entry. I am absolutely baffled at this SSTO's fantastic performance. Only one part broke and that was a radially attached flag that could only survive 1000K worth of heat. Everything else, A-OK. It used pretty much all of it's fuel, so an ISRU base will be needed. I also need to give it solar panels and a docking port, maybe a few chutes too and then it's finished!
-
Oh... Whoops xD Yeah, taking off is different. But I imagine that there would be a base at the shore, and the plane can taxi over, maybe refuel, and then take off. It does. I've seen a lot of designs from amazing SSTO people ( @Matt Lowne and @Thrimm , those two are fantastic (and believe me, there are more) ) that have the wings lower down instead of snap dead in the middle, does this help with reentry and do the wings have a higher heat tolerance?
-
Omg, I am completely out of words. I just built a working space plane. That survived getting to orbit. I haven't tested bringing it back yet, and I'm really nervous and hope it goes smoothly. Any tips for landing in water from orbit? It's for Laythe which is why I chose the water.
-
Oh... Strange
-
Wait, what? A quicksave didn't fix it for me ._.
-
Yes! I'm not the only one! I now know this is an actual bug and not my misfortune! No, I'm not happy your ship is messed up. Pretty sad actually. But I'm just happy that I now know this is an actual bug which could most likely be fixed. I posted it already on the IR thread, so don't worry about that.

Finally found the Duna Face! I had attempted several times before, but never actually found it. I knew the general area, just wasn't sure where precisely. But I found it today!
